My '90 Toyota pickup lasted 20 years, best truck ever. Sold it to a kid that got in an accident. Kid was ok, truck never made it. I wish Toyota still made this good looking little truck.
Nice truck! Very clean lines, nice paint, interior looks great too! Iconic symbol with that pine tree air freshener, I remember those, lol! That's a great stance with those wheels and tires combo! My brother had a 4x4, close to that year, 6 inch lift and big ass knobby tires but then he sold it. Great video and thanks for sharing!!
Beautiful truck. I have a 1995 4x4 xrta cab 22RE with a hair over 150,000 miles, no rust and a straight body besides normal dings and such. Late wife and I bought it new in March 1995 with 13 miles on the odometer. It was one of 5 or 6 left in a lot full of new Tacomas. It stopped running a couple of weeks ago, engine is currently being diagnosed. Interior needs to be replaced plus some minor body work and new paint. It's well worth spending the money to have restored. Many haven't a clue on how collectable they've become. Wish I could do most of the work myself, but those days are behind me.
My dad still has an 89 just like this, it was originally red but now it’s dark green. It’s the only thing he used to drive, but now it just sits and the rockers are rusting and the tires are flat. This was super cool to see
Very nice. My very basic '89 was 2WD, silver, and had the 22R carbureted engine and a 4 speed manual. Second to last year for the 22R and last year for the 4 speed manual, yet it had A/C. The 22RE carried on for years. Great engine except for the plastic chain tensioner and the chain guides. Best, most durable vehicle I ever owned. I still remember how small it was and how tiny the interior was. My '02 S10 seemed big compared to this.
Very nice, my is the same color and same year. I'll never sell my, my truck is part of me. Very few cars/ trucks in this world creates such devotion and commitment to keep them for a life time, from their owners, like this little Toyota's has manage to do. Cheers from latin america.
The front grille, lights suggest this is a 92-94. The 94's had the 3rd brake light on the roof, and the 89-91 grille and lights, valance were bigger. Still a beauty.
I learned to drive stick in a '89 4x4 reg cab. My dads wife bought brand new. Red with the gray graphics on the side. I was in absolutely in love with that truck. She racked on over 300k miles before trading it in on a Cherokee. Miss that truck
I had a 1987 2WD model single cab bought it brand new, taught my daughter to drive a stick in it. She named it Morty. A drug addict stole it in 2016. It was recovered, but really fucked up, so I looked at little pick ups and they just don't exist anymore. I tried to by a new Nissan Frontier, glad I didn't, because I found and bought a 2002 Tacoma TRD 2WD 6 cylinder and it is a real upgrade from that '87. The Tacoma only had 75K miles I got it for 11K in 2016, still have it and love it. My daughter really misses that old Toyota Pick Up. The cops had a hard time believing that the truck did not have a model name like "Tacoma, Tundra, or Corolla" just "Toyota Pick Up."
this is bad ass, my dad used to have a red one that I earned my license with. he got rid of it and bought a brand new 2002 trd which he still has today.
They didn't change these trucks too often as my 1980 looked very similar to this one. The main difference is mine had the solid front axial with leaf springs. The first and best off roading vehicle I ever owned.
My dad owned an 89 just like this one and wouldn't let me have it (I don't blame him. I wanted him to upgrade so I could have his) so I bought one for myself. I'm super excited because I know what they are capable of. The one I bought was an '89 V6 access cab with only 96,500 miles on it. I've been loyal to Toyota since I was 5 and I don't think I'll ever change. If your curious, go check out my Toyota for yourself on my channel.
Nice truck again..I really need to lift mines..haven’t been using my truck as much..my 88 2wd has been getting the attention because I have an bed on it..and my other one has a topper
Nice truck!!! I'm betting this was pretty nice(aka not a rust bucket) before you did all the body work. I also like all the custom work on the interior, as I'm betting this came originally with a 1 piece fixed back bench seat and crank windows(that's how my 1993 De-lux trim reg cab was equipped). Anyways, super nice truck, l'm also digging the period correct wheels/lift/white letter tires, that "day 2" look is starting to become real popular, especially with vintage trucks.
im workin on a 3vz, can you help me with this: how tall is the rear lift? how did you lift the front? what size are the tires? i would apreciate your help so much
Had an 89 in 97, unfortunately the previous owner did a bunch of poorly done mods & towed over capacity. It died a year after I got it & I was too young/broke to repair it. Last year I had a chance to pick up a 93 sr5 v6 with only 86k & all maintenance done at a dealership. Drive it more than my sti. Just need to get the steering a bit tighter.
Nice truck! Mine looks identical give or take a few parts here and there. Check mine out when you got some time. I wanted the Toyota pickup since high school and when I got the money to throw at it I really went through it!
Yeah, have a fat bank account if you want to restore your truck to this level. I just spent a small fortune restoring my 1994 and I did all the work myself. Interior trim parts, bumpers, suspension are not cheap especially if you go OEM. Plus, many trim pieces have been discontinued by Toyota.
Beautiful restoration! Where can I find a center console like that? I have a 91 Toyota Pickup single cab and have really been looking for a good center console with that OE look.
Beautiful truck! I have a 1990 ext cab pickup with the blue interior and I’m looking to do the same interior mods like you have, you got all the interior parts from a same gen 4Runner? Door panels, seats, center console? And guidance would be greatly appreciated
Man what an awesome truck. Beautiful restore. One of the most reliable vehicles ever built IMO. Great work my friend
Had an 89 for almost 20 years. Sold it to a Buddy for his Daughter's 16th birthday. She wrecked it in two months. I miss that Truck everyday.
Keith Fortson that’s just wrong for her to do
This is why you dont let women drive real cars
"Real cars"? Dude, it's a pickup truck. Not a fuckin' Corvette.
EminentLine it’s a special pickup truck, these are basically antiques and it was also in back to the future
@@EminentLine Corvette's are the only real cars to you? Lmao, foh.
Bought my 94 new . never selling it. Most reliable truck ( or car for that matter). I've ever owned. 22re with five speed manuel. 201,000 miles.
glen gerdes still going strong 💪
My '90 Toyota pickup lasted 20 years, best truck ever. Sold it to a kid that got in an accident. Kid was ok, truck never made it. I wish Toyota still made this good looking little truck.
Dad had an '86, also a dark blue 4x4. I learned how to drive a manual transmission on that truck. Great job, thanks for the memories.
That thing is a beast.. love it. Just bought a 2019 TRD 4x4 , love them all.
Gorgeous!! One of the best and most reliable vehicles ever made. These made Toyota's reputation what it is today.

I have 4 of these all with the 22REs 87, 90 4runner 4x4, 91 ext cab 4x4, and 94.... love them...
Nice looking truck, buddy. I had an 88” I bought in 89”. I drove it for 10 years. I sold it with 270k with the front seals leaking for $2,600.
My dad still has an 89 just like this, it was originally red but now it’s dark green. It’s the only thing he used to drive, but now it just sits and the rockers are rusting and the tires are flat. This was super cool to see
Gavin Throop does he sell it ?
I love it. Mine is a 25 year old 94 toyota 4 x 4. Great video.
I just bought an old black 89 with a roll bar and KC light pods. Looks like Marty McFly’s truck. I love it.
what a beauty!
Great looking truck!
I always wanted one of those truck’s! A couple of my buddies did. Love them. That’s a damn good looking one.
Over 300k miles... Truck's finally broken in. Time to enjoy it to the fullest lol
You made my day
Nice truck....well done and enjoy it.It will most likely outlive you.
Sweet! Have a ‘92 Xtra Cab and love these trucks even though I have the 3VZE, lol
Good work greetings from the south of chile
Nice, I have an 1988 Toyota 4x4. They are very reliable trucks.
Nice job! I had the 2 wd 86 with the 22r. Now have the first gen Tacoma. I’d like to restore it someday. Looks great!

Absolutely adorable, little beast. Congrats!
My dad had a 1992 one in Red. Man i miss that truck
Very nice, my is the same color and same year.
I'll never sell my, my truck is part of me.

Very nice truck. I have an '88 short bed short cab I got for hunting/fishing, but I'm tempted to fix her up like yours. There awfully cool rigs.
My bro has a 1990 Toyota pickup that I want to do some mods to more than I do to my own 2019 Tacoma. Looks clean!!
My dad owned an 89 just like this one and wouldn't let me have it (I don't blame him. I wanted him to upgrade so I could have his) so I bought one for myself. Aaron Bays actually it was rough. I saved it from the junkyard. It has a new bed etc. All new from the dealer
Beautiful !👍
Cómo se trae esa camioneta a República Dominican? Es posible?
Do you swap the whole door from a 4runner or just the door panel? I ask for the power windows ,nice truck

Awesome 👍 👍 1989 Toyota Tacoma review .

The Tacoma came out in 1995
Off road king!

What brand toolbox?
I have a 3.0 pickup. Thinking of doing a swap when the engine starts to go. Any suggestions. what engine would be easier. The 22re for the 3.4
How much the price
How much?
Beautiful restoration! Where can I find a center console like that? I have a 91 Toyota Pickup single cab and have really been looking for a good center console with that OE look.
That’s a 4runner console
What would it take to part with it?
Not gonna happen
Beautiful truck! I have a 1990 ext cab pickup with the blue interior and I’m looking to do the same interior mods like you have, you got all the interior parts from a same gen 4Runner? Door panels, seats, center console? And guidance would be greatly appreciated
Cameron Murray yes direct swap from a 4runner
Chris Toney what is your lift/rim/tire specs? Sorry for all the questions, I really like the look of your truck
Pero que la vendes o mamás la exibes si la vendes donde está
