I have owned every generation of the Glock. I had a LNIB G17 Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 3, Gen 4, 19M, and Gen 5. If Glock said tomorrow that they will never produce any previous generation again and that Gen 5 was to become the permanent iteration of the Glock, I would be 100% content with that. The Gen 5 is absolutely hands down the best they've ever done. Its not perfect, but its strides better than anything they have made before. Gen 1 was full of problems. Weak frames, drop safe issues, slippery grip, non drop free mags. Gen 2 had similar issues to Gen 1 but were resolved with time. But even then, Gen 2 and Gen 3 both suffer from inadequate grip texturing, cracking slides, and some funky design flaws such as the undersized mag release and poor ejection. Generation 4 was a slight upgrade from 3, but not enough. The 19M and subsequently Gen 5? Totally different ball game. Strong ejections, extremely hard unbreakable slides, fantastic ergonomics, versatility, simple design, and so much more. Glock may not be perfect but they sure are close to it.
Your serial number begins with mp and ends with dc which I believe stands for metropolitan police District of Columbia. I’m not 100% sure, but I have read that online.
Yes, about a year ago a big batch came on the market and were sent to numerous retailers. Some listings mentioned they were Metropolitan Police Department guns and some didn't.
I sold all my G's cause there's Way Better choices now.. Although I kept my gen. 5 G-19 MOS cause they have better barrels n I have a R.D. on the slide.. be well.
