Just changed my 4.6L intake manifold Saturday...found out this morning about this problem, luckily only a few miles from home...crazy they build this part with such a massive defect built in. I'll try this repair method and get back on the road, thanks!

Sorry to hear that. It's unbelievable that they ship them with this mickey mouse cap

Thanks for sharing your fix for this. Someone’s brain waves flatlined when they designed this. Generally epoxies and plastics don’t mix do using some epoxy that’s meant for plastic might be better and scuffing with an abrasive and cleaning with acetone might help the epoxy adhere.

Fortunately the jb weld is just reinforcing the metal plug. Seems to be holding up perfectly

I have this same intake on a F150. I might try the same fix.

There should be a recall on that intake manifold. FROD now makes a replacement manifold for the 4.6, not the 5.4. It costs you about 20 horse power. The Dorman costs you 26 HP. They should have designed an aluminum intake instead of sticking it to their customers with a piece of poop plastic intake.

@petedymond even with romping on it? My caps would blow off if I were to get on the gas pretty hard and run the rpms up to redline.

Does it hold up to high RPMs?

Well it's in an E250 work van, not a race car! But it's holding up great
