Our ride operateer used to play the song blind by korn then he would start the ride going really fast when they yelled are you ready. 😅 Fun times back in the day.
I'm black and it's especially because of the Gravatron in the 90's I can seriously appreciate metal and long hair. (The reason I'm growing mine out) 🤟🏾💯
I accompanied comedian Freddy Lewis on The Gravitron back in '87. The Gravitron conductor played "Do You Remember Rock & Roll Radio?" by The Ramones. Lewis alleged that he died, went to Heaven, snorted cocaine with Phil Lynott and came back to life ...upside down on the wall of The Gravitron. True story.
Little known fact: Comedian Freddy Lewis was a Gravitron operator briefly. He was fired because instead of playing music he would do his comedy routine. xoxo The Clarences
I'm 33 years old currently. Born and raised , in New Orleans, Louisiana and have been on the Gravitron /Starship 2000 numerous tiimes since the 1990s. 1996 to be exact. Before 1996, I saw the Gravitron a few years before in person. If I ever get a Gravitron ride, soon or later, I'm just going to play Rock/Heavy Metal music.
My poor 11-year-old son couldn't quite figure out what I was talking about with Gravitrons in the early 90s...this video helped a lot :) Thanks for uploading!
Wow! Memories. This ride was dope in the 90's I remember riding this ride a thousand times with my cousins @ clementine park in new Jersey. The good ole days. Oh and the DJ was awesome, he played rock, hip hop & r&b
That poor asian dude at the end! I thought it was his younger brothers freaking out and clinging to him during the ride. Was actually him hanging onto them for dear life! The one kid flailing by his neck makes more sense now. XD
I know, right? These days some of them send you up only once and then they end the ride after that and I’m like are you kidding? But these days they don’t want to risk making anybody sick. And you can’t go upside down anymore.
Wow!! This is EXACTLY what it was like in the early 90s riding the Gravitron. Music blasing just as I remember it. Thank you for preserving this piece of my childhood. The early 90s were such an amazing time to be alive compared to this shit show we're living in today.
When I went to the Orleans County 4-H Fair in 2003, I had gone on the Gravitron on a Saturday night (the last night of the fair). Anyways, one of the times I went on the Gravitron, it was sometime past 9:00 PM, and the ride suddenly stopped, and the lights inside had powered off. I didn’t know what had happened until I got off the ride, and it turned out the generators that ran the rides at the midway had conked out. Thankfully, the generators were back up and going. However, they conked out when my ride on the Wipeout (similar to a Trabant) was about to end. Luckily, it was only for a few seconds. Hey, I got a second ride as a result. It was still some scary shit, though. What’s crazy is that the people who were trying to get people off the ferris wheel told them to “jump off” out of their car. Those people were off their damn rocker to do that!
Wow that brings back memories 1996-2006 when I was in school.. They always had rbr hardest hitting bass.. And people was all over the place jamming! That shit was so awesome, that was the ride at the West Virginia Black Walnut festival
WOW! We never had a badass gravitron like this! I first rode a gravitron toward the end of the 90's.. we all just laid there against the wall... no climbing.. no sliding panels, no music, no flashing lights, nothing. about the most fun you could do was see if you could stick and arm out and get it pinned up or something... seriously, like nothing went on. I liked it, but it was NOTHING like this.
Gravitrons were more authentic in my opinion back in those days. Today many of them have kind of lost their luster. And many of them have more rules because of the sue-happy society we live in.
@@MyUncleWorksForNintendo what I meant is some of those old ones the lights don’t work anymore and they don’t play music in some of them. And the mats don’t work very well in some of the old ones anymore.
Sometimes you can get away with ignoring those rules if the operator is not paying attention or still doesn’t care. But be careful. The operator can stop the ride and kick you out if he wanted to.
What's funny is at the past few years I'd been to the 4-H Fair in my county, there was a fun house that would play polka music, often playing the Chicken Dance or Weird Al Yankovic's polka medleys.
Back the 90s the Gravitron used to play nothing but metal
Our ride operateer used to play the song blind by korn then he would start the ride going really fast when they yelled are you ready. 😅 Fun times back in the day.
The gravitron in my area played freestyle 😂
Back in the 90’s every single time I rode it, they played “Def Leppard- Let’s Get Rocked” those were the days…
Nothing but, how boring 🙄.
Now it's slow teen music
the 80s metal comeing from this ride i love this ride
The only way to ride one haha
I love this song 83 born
This is how I remember riding this, with 80s rock blasting!
It was the same for me in 2000s when nu metal was popular. Ride operators seemed more fun back in the day.
Thank you for preserving this important piece of early 90s history.
lmao..

I’m 34 now but I first rode this back in 92’ with my cousins and this
Is exactly what it was like ! I miss the early 90’s 😌
Me too. Life was a lot easier.
You were 4 riding this?
As a 90’s baby(26 now) the music seems more enjoyable than the crap we are forced to listen to on the radio now.
Little known fact: Comedian Freddy Lewis was a Gravitron operator briefly. He was fired because instead of playing music he would do his comedy routine. xoxo The Clarences
I’m 38 and when I was a kid I always rode the Gravitron upside down like a real man 😂
that was my Gravitron in the late 80s.....cool
Woooooow look how different everything and all those kids looked back then

It's a fun ride. I haven't been on one in years.
I wish I could go back to the '80s and experience everything and I really wish I was born in that time so I could get to experience all the fun things
I gotta say there’s always gonna be that one ride at the carnival that will be more funner than the rest of them

This is such a blast from the past. Loved the 90s hair near the end. Baggy jeans and tucked in tee shirts too. Thanks for the memories!
I loved this ride at the memorial day weekend carnival in front of Sears I Kenosha WI, with the loud metal music and everything!!!😁
I remember when they played pure rock music on that ride in the 90s but now they play pop, rap, and country music.
awesome music fun times
I heard so much great music on that ride when the fair came to Savannah,ga
Great video! I never knew being nostalgic could be so bittersweet.. I need a time machine

Nostalgic!!!
bro i need all these songs

Spinning around to the Scorpions
Epic!
This scared the ish out of me as a lil girl in the early 90s I was not expecting to get stuck the whole ride! Have t been on a ride since
8 minutes?! Wish they would do that instead of the 2 minute ride time we have.

Cool.
This is in Ocean City, MD! I can tell by the signs!
I’m going next week
@@Sparky19124 Awesome, we are going in August haha. I remember seeing a Gravitron on the Pier back in the day.

I wonder how he was allowed to get in there with the big shoulder camera?
It was a palmcorder. Super VHSc
Oh the good old days...
This might be before I was born, but I can smell how sweaty it is
Smelled more like Axel Grease.

I wonder if the operator ever gets dizzy?
actually no it feels different and weird but no. If you look up however your head turns in the direction its spinning in
I know like how can he spin all these times, I’d barf 🤮 and get a headache.
This ride lasted almost 10 minutes??? Nowadays it’s like 2-3 minutes lol
the gravitrons so fun
just thinking about it most of them are over 40yrs old
Can someone tell me a list of all the songs that are played during this ride?
Oh yes Starship 2000

How do you have a gravitron with NO MUSIC?

I came here to see the spew =(
Someone was in there with a whole ass camcorder lol
That was me. 30 years later I use a 22 lb camera every day for my career.
This is awesome! Now all we do is just stick to wall because of dumb rules. What's the point of the Gravitron if you can't move around in it?
Exactly!
You need spacesuit to move around lol
You can someday.... In the Earth's orbit while spending over $100K.
Could you imagine getting thrashed to death inside this thing as this classic rock bullshit played
Looks like a horror movie
OMG I was only 9
Scorpions! These days a similar ride would be a merry go round and play Justin Beiber or Lady Gaga.
I did the opposite. I played merry go round music on a gravitron. The video is in my channel
Adolph Zuckerjew Those singers are almost 10 years dated. You’re showing your age. Lol

De flock to da glock

So it is possible to have too much distortion.
That camera had a shitty mic on it. Any loud music was distorted.
