Yeah it does help especially when your the last racer and you have a few cops after you still, the sirens make it more tense. Although I can understand that some people find them annoying.
this game is my 2nd favorite, only NFS Most Wanted, the original one for PS2 ranks higher. I remember playing this online so much, never got caught in these racers vs cops things out of those things I did, as far as I remember.

The second is when you are running behind the runners, you should keep your distance y always stay waiting for the spikes. You can´t attack as easy as you do. It´s only a recomendation. Bye.

I prefer The Run for it's vehicles and features. But on the other hand, Hot Pursuit is good for it's online and free-roam.
