Michael, you never cease to amaze me. This was a well done video and on a very important subject that also trickles into the area of slowing down our dogs' eating to lesson the chance of bloat. Thanks for this great video.
The first toy (the Kong) is impossible to clean if you put moist food inside. The second toy, my dog ate a hole in the yellow cover. Much easier to get the food out that way, rather than batting it around. Prolly okay if you've got a smaller dog, that can't chew through the cover
I have to say I wish I’d started thinking more into interactive, 🧠 thought provoking and challenging toys that also feed my dogs because it’s their nature to hunt or work hard for the food they provide themselves. Sadly and unintentionally we humans have removed that daily challenge therefore banishing their hunting skills; we should at least provide them something beyond a boring dish that’s unfortunately too easy to access causing our pets to become overweight, unsatisfied and bored/hyper and that’s sadly becoming the norm! I will say kibble/dry dog food no matter the brand (although some brands are far worse and disgusting health wise than others) is not a healthy long term choice! It doesn’t take a genius to put the pieces together that kibble isn’t and never was apart of their ancestral diets therefore leading to foul diseases and disorders as dogs are meant to eat raw, Whole Foods (dry kibble and even wet lack the moisture needed for our pets) like raw chicken, beef plus the bones, etc! However, I would never totally throw out kibble as it’s very easy to under feed the nutrition our dogs and cats require, meaning it’s very common ppl start a raw, whole foods diet and lack in providing all the natural vitamins, minerals, etc. needed. I would talk with your vet, of course because the vet will be much more knowledgeable on your breed of dog, it’s healthiest weight and how much and what specifically your pet needs to survive in it’s happiest form! Incase your vet is like many who rely on old textbooks and outdated beliefs on typical dry dog kibble being nutritious enough 🤦🏻♀️ (you may want to find one who’s knowledgeable in their ancestral diets) and he/she disagrees with feeding at least whole foods cooked or raw, then add in a much smaller amount of dry/wet kibble ensuring you make up for the rest with whole foods like chicken, beef, dog/cat safe veggies, etc just remember never ever ever feed your dog cooked bone!!! Doesn’t matter if it’s beef, pork, lamb or chicken it’s all dangerous and there’s risk of splinters impaling🩸 your dogs/cats gut if fed cooked bone! Beyond that if it’s too expensive then think beyond your average, daily diet and find ways of providing your dog higher quality kibble: dry/wet and provide healthy/safe table scraps such as chicken without the bone and most raw whole chickens come with gizzards inside it’s belly or butt and serve your dog healthy snacks instead of giving your pet horrible dog biscuits which equals totally inappropriate food for any animal!!! Instead give real meat that’s not from some nasty, processed can, give your dog a raw steak bone, feed them veggies that are safe and non toxic including safe herbs like rosemary, thyme, tiny amounts of garlic and onion (again small amounts!!!) eggs, even finely crushed egg shells offer calcium and again foods like that maintain a healthier, longer living and happy dog! Just always remember BALANCE!!!
