I tried this last sunday. My husband was like fish stew with hake no use another fish and I insisted after tasting the stew he gave me a hand shake. Sisi Yemmie I always try your recipes to impress my husband and they work like a charm. Thank you so much.
This is one of my favorite fishes for stew. it’s very easy to clean and doesn’t have much bones. We call it Whiting though but they are pretty much the same. I’ve just learnt the other name now. Looks so delicious
Am laughing out loud with “leave the fish alone”😃😃😃😃 your right iooooo. I’m sure that the aroma from that fish stew is awesome. Thanks for always sharing with us delicious and healthy food recipes. I enjoyed watching
thanks for the video. When I am in Nigeria I have fish more than any other dish - usually croaker fried/grilled with a tomato sauce poured on top...I am not Nigerian so always wondered how to make this tomato base sauce... its funny as I grew up not enjoying fish meals because we used to have to clean fish whenever it was bought for us to bag it and freeze it. In a different way I appreciate UA-cam as well coz I now see different ways of making Nigerian tomato base-sauce. Thank you for sharing yours and more generally for your really funny videos which remind me so much of my Nigeria trips. I can't wait to start travelling to West Africa again when things settle down again
This looks delicious! I will try to cook this dish soon , i randomly woke up craving this even though i have never eaten this before so i’m teaching myself from this video 😅😍😍😍😍
I prepared this stew once and my family love it and I will definitely make it again. I also struggle with frying fish,I hardly leave my fish alone I will follow sisi’s method of fish frying
My mum is currently into this hake fish so it's a relief to have this video. No more unnecessary splashing of fish on my face when frying. Thank you Sisi Yemmie 🤍
Looks yummy, though I don’t eat fish! Would you mind doing a video on the differences of using bell peppers or tomatoes, etc for stews and why some folks use some over the other or why they use both when they do? I hope I’m making sense lol. I’d like to get a better understanding please.
I made this yesterday and it tasted amazing plus your rice and beans. Good food just makes me happy. Glad i also have the casserole dish too. Thanks for sharing your amazing recipes with us.
SISI YEMMIEEEEE thank you very much , that hake fish stew is on point, the spices used are perfectly combined 👌😘😘, it’s my first time to use hake fish I normally run from it because of its look but that video encouraged me ,
Thank you for this recipe. been looking for a way to incorporate fish in my stew for my kids I just don't like the texture of other fishes like Titus fish.. Its quite hard to hold its form while cooking...e too dey scatter...I'll try this hake fish it looks like it will hold its form.
hahahahahaha sisiyemi u are right as i grow older i learnt that u need to allow the fish to fry better before flipping it, then it was was because the fish scatters every now and then chai its good to grow older to understand many kitchen Technics

@SisiYemmie, I notice you don't use tomato paste on your stews, That's the way I usually cook my stew and i like the taste, what do you recommend?
Did you use groundnut to fry the fish??
But it looks like palm oil was added at the later stage.
What of Maggi or any other spices
