Devastated to discover the video of his performance of this at Glyndebourne has been removed from UA-cam. No other rendition approaches it. Why. oh why????????
I mean the one with the dark makeup, a picture and suitcase. The one that the audience waited some seconds to begin clapping after he finished. The performance that was so emotional and musically exquisite that this video still here sounds mechanical and cleaned up in comparison, not to mention he threw in a few unnecessary notes here to elaborate what didn't need elaboration. I miss the other video so bad!!!!!
@@vaemcdowell6205 At least we had the chance to see it at one point. Even his acclaimed idol, James Bowman, said that no one approaches his rendition of Dove Sei (or so I've heard).
@@davidpayne697 I found it at the Glyndebourne shop, the last dvd (at the bottom) Rodelinda 1998, and of COURSE I ordered it! My life is again complete. I have heard four of his versions but the one on that dvd is not just great, but exquisite, and having heard that one, that's the one I want to go to again and again. In no way am I criticising anything that Scholl ever sang, which would be outrageous; I just know what I love.
