Good start to the Wobbler Engine Andre. The flywheel doesn't have to be big in diameter as long as it has some weight to it. My first engine was a wobbler, and the flywheel was only 40mm in diameter, and 13mm thick, made from a bit of scrap steel. Myfordboy makes his flywheels from aluminium and zinc to give extra weight. Looking forward to part 2. Cheers Nobby
Eyup Rusty good to see you start on your passion Steam Engines, not trying to tell you how to suck eggs, far be it from me, but it will help you if you get in to the habit of keep minimum stick out of your tools in the tool post, helps with ridgidity, just my thoughts. all the best Kev
Watched this earlier then forgot to comment. I really enjoyed this video rusty. Most impressed with how much you got done. Did you "lop" the original stock with your bandsaw? Best video so far rusty. Keep it going. 💪 how are you finding the vfd on the lathe?

Thanks. Yeah well. I don’t think I’m on the same level than most, but still I want to try and give it my best.
Part 1 nicely done Mr. Rust !..Del...
Thanks.
Best practice is to reduce the tool overhang to reduce flex and give a better finish. Too much overhang in the material when milling in the lathe too.
He he you are right. I keep forgetting about it, but you are dead right.
great skill you have
Thank you
Great start Rusty :)
Thanks. Allot more work than I thought for simple operations. He he.
Keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!
well done rusty, always gets me how versatile a Myford really is. keep up the good work.👍
Thanks 👍Yeah I love the old lathe. It’s has it’s shortcomings, but it’s a good lathe.

Thanks. Yeah I have cut the aluminum with the bandsaw and metal with grinder. The VFD is great, gave me more control.
Ek het gewonder of jy 'n milling attachment het. Netjiese werk!
Dankie.
