Wow. Amazing. I never realized how essential or might I say what an important role the making and keeping the covenant of the priesthood plays in our obtaining all the blessings of eternity (Gods blessings) or what a honor and a privilege and sacred responsibility it is to bear this priesthood.
What things does an aaronic priesthood holder do? What are the duties... Also may I get clarification about what its like if you fail to live up to a priesthood.. What happens to one if they are unable to live up to the covenant?
Hi Frank, thanks for your question. The Aaronic Priesthood quorum theme helps answer your question about the duties of a priesthood holder: "“I am a beloved son of God, and He has a work for me to do. With all my heart, might, mind, and strength, I will love God, keep my covenants, and use His priesthood to serve others, beginning in my own home. As I strive to serve, exercise faith, repent, and improve each day, I will qualify to receive temple blessings and the enduring joy of the gospel. I will prepare to become a diligent missionary, loyal husband, and loving father by being a true disciple of Jesus Christ. I will help prepare the world for the Savior’s return by inviting all to come unto Christ and receive the blessings of His Atonement.” You can learn more about the duties of an Aaronic Priesthood holder here: www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/general-handbook/10-aaronic-priesthood?lang=eng You'll notice the theme emphasizes repentance, an important part of every disciple's journey. None of us are perfect; we all need the Savior's Atonement and repentance each day. We encourage you to talk with your local leaders or a trusted family member or adult to learn more. Take care! We're glad you're here.
Tipton Smartt doctrine and covenants 84: 33 For whoso is faithful unto the obtaining these two priesthoods of which I have spoken, and the magnifying their calling, are sanctified by the Spirit unto the renewing of their bodies. 34 They become the sons of Moses and of Aaron and the seed of Abraham, and the church and kingdom, and the elect of God. 35 And also all they who receive this priesthood receive me, saith the Lord; 36 For he that receiveth my servants receiveth me; 37 And he that receiveth me receiveth my Father; 38 And he that receiveth my Father receiveth my Father’s kingdom; therefore all that my Father hath shall be given unto him. 39 And this is according to the oath and covenant which belongeth to the priesthood. 40 Therefore, all those who receive the priesthood, receive this oath and covenant of my Father, which he cannot break, neither can it be moved.
Tipton Smartt the covenant is that we seek to obtain the priesthood’s by receiving the priesthood and then use it as Christ would use it. Check out section 120. The Holy Ghost helps us to know how to use it. Then we are able to become like God through the ordinances.

what is the covenant
Tipton Smartt doctrine and covenants 84: 33 For whoso is faithful unto the obtaining these two priesthoods of which I have spoken, and the magnifying their calling, are sanctified by the Spirit unto the renewing of their bodies.
34 They become the sons of Moses and of Aaron and the seed of Abraham, and the church and kingdom, and the elect of God.
35 And also all they who receive this priesthood receive me, saith the Lord;
36 For he that receiveth my servants receiveth me;
37 And he that receiveth me receiveth my Father;
38 And he that receiveth my Father receiveth my Father’s kingdom; therefore all that my Father hath shall be given unto him.
39 And this is according to the oath and covenant which belongeth to the priesthood.
40 Therefore, all those who receive the priesthood, receive this oath and covenant of my Father, which he cannot break, neither can it be moved.
