Thank you for fitting me into your guy’s super busy schedule! 100% satisfied and had an awesome day hangin out with you all. Can’t wait to hit the track!!!
Car has a gsr motor, darton sleeves, eagle rods, carillo pistons and the cams are just gsr cams, nothing crazy really just all “off the shelf stuff” And Brent said the reason why it sounds wierd is because of the design of the headers and like the way they are formed or something like that.. Smoke is from oil blow-by in the turbo, the drain hose is too long and there is no downward slope to actually drain the stuff, just need to cut the hose to length.. I bought this car with the motor already built and Nick did an AWESOME job building it but, everything else I’ve pretty much just added to it. Turbo is a borg warner S472 :)
You know what I absolutely love, that really hits at home every time for me? It's that Brent calls everything a hot rod. There was a time I would get a bit sad and depressed on how my car may look, because it doesn't necessarily look how it "should." So Brent calling everything a hot rod really put that into perspective. It doesn't matter how it looks, or how it's supposed to look. It's just an expression of us. Putting heart and soul into a build makes up for it not looking like a show car. "Not all show cars are race cars. But all race cars are show cars."
I always say the best look for a car is that it runs really well. I'd rather take a car with chipped paint fading, different colored fenders(I couldn't do without a body panel) that runs like a top than a good looking, unhealthy car. Both is always nice though
"This is piston ring to boost control... I'm breaking through the laaand. Valves are floating in a most peculiar way. Bearing clearance very different, todaaay!"
Almost sounds like a slightly cracked ceramic on the plug or possibly the porcelain. At lower rpm’s, it’s taking the path of least resistance to the head and when the voltage increases it makes the full length to the ground strap. NGK plugs are so robust and well built, they’ll run like that. I had that happen in a Grand Am and it DROVE ME NUTS trying to figure out what the miss was. Also had a car with an injector harness vibrating loose at certain rpm’s. Replaced it so it could clip all the way and problem solved.
Hang some sound deadening blocks from the roof to help soak up some of the reverb they sell them pretty cheap online it’s similar to what’s used in old lunchrooms or old recording studios
the toe in data is on point, besides more grip if you have toe in it makes the tires straight when launches,if you have cero toe or toe out when you launch, is even more and slows you down a lot
Horizon Gray Metallic is such a good OEM color. Has a purple/blue hue, and pearl in it, looks great in many lighting situations. Also a big fan of Iced Teal Pearl
Great video guys! Love the door coming up and going down.. so respectful to the neighbours! But seriously how do you guys not get away with it like Cleetus?? Crazy!
Cleetus’s shop is in an industrial park and his house is in the middle of nowhere, If you look on Google Earth PFI shop has a house quite literally almost across the road from them.
Thanks for the content as usual Brent! I'd love to learn you're tuning process and how to set up 2 step on hondata etc I think a lot of us enjoy the educational aspect of your videos as well as everything else! 😁❤️
I love the hatch, I love the gray color, I love the RPF-1's, and I love the engine (obviously). A lot of love for this car. I don't love the dancing though!
ROFL at those 'explanations' about steering geometry... Two big factors to consider are front or rear mounted steering rack, and positive or negative scrub radius. The latter isn't really a concern as with wide wheels it will be positive, so it's just down to the rack position. Front rack, slight toe in and rear rack, slight toe out. You can even observe it toeing in slightly at 11:30 as it comes on boost. The 'tire wrap' is crap - you need to have the tyres tracking straight ahead - there is a limited amount of grip and if the tyres aren't tracking true they're putting a lateral load into the contact patch and so reducing the total available. That said, some vehicles have a significant amount of bump/roll steer, intended to induce understeer (because it is 'safer') it may affect the toe as the suspension rises. I would definitely trust you chaps with tuning and fabrication, but suspension geometry not so much - checked out the rear suspension travel and articulation yet on Sho'nuff?
Now that you are permitted and are going to stay there for awhile, maybe invest in some ventilation to suck the smoke and exhaust fumes out. Even if you don't mind breathing it, eventually everything in the shop will have greasy film on it.
