I used to sell used paperbacks on Amazon...That was untill E-Books came out and my sources (thrift stores) bumped the prices up. So paperbacks became 50 to a $ instead of a grocery bag (plastic) full for a $. I certain the are still recyclers that will take books instead of dumping them in a landfill.
We took 5 boxes of mostly kids books to our shop to give away. We simply do not have the room to keep them long enough to give them away I called 5 places nobody wanted them. The theme is books don't sell very well.
This was an amazing building cleanout with so much great stuff to resell. I totally get what you're talking about that there is no place that wants or needs the books, which is truly sad! Working with an elementary school library I cringed with every box of books that feel into the dumpster. But it is what it is, just an over abundant number of books. I'd like to know what these people paid for all of these books and everything to run this operation. But, mostly, how in the world could they just walk away from it, who knows how much money they lost, but guess it didn't matter! I do wish you all would have been able to keep all the Dr. Seuss books I saw fall into that dumpster and donate them. Those Dr. Seuss books of all the books in that place are always, always in demand with parents, schools, and libraries. But it's too late! Anyway, probably some of the greatest and probably newest items you have gotten to resale in a long time. Keep the videos coming!
We were able to keep an unbelievable amount of the Doctor Suess books. They were donated for people who came to pick them up.We were advertising on facebook that they were available to come and get for free.
Man they left lots of good stuff on this. I got a buddy that buys books from Goodwill and thrift shops and sells them on EBay. He's got about 1500-2000 listings at any time. He actually does pretty damn good profit margins for a side hustle. But like you said sometimes something sells quick and most of the time it takes months or years for a buyer to come up

Holy Crap!!! Can these boxes of books (or some of…) be donated to an area library system? Many libraries will sell books to generate revenue. So, this could be a huge windfall for them, Dave. PS - if you come across any books on Tiki, Tiki bars, Polynesia/Hawaii, or any good bar books…I’ll buy!!!

Do you have a Half Price Books? They do used book resale here in Washington State. We use them all the time. Florida has to have something similar. What a waste to dump them all.
Dave, I'd talk to a librarian and explain your situation and see what they say. Also, what if you could find a place to rent short term where you are able to display as many books as you can and invite the public in and sell the books for $1.00 a piece. Just brainstorming!

Those speedboxes would be great to store the #1 Ghetto Gold in, aka(copper wire). Also you have bulk storage racks. This is like starting a long term savings vault bank. Dave, first edition books, are all that sells first on E-Bay, all others are worthless as far as collectibilitiy and value.
