- I made this soap as a (hopefully) pleasant surprise to send to someone. Luckily, they loved it when they received it. My plan was to take the logo of the business and turned it into soap, well there were quite a lot of embeds needed.

Although my cold process soap making tutorials are of a tutorial nature, they are intended for people who have a good understanding of making cold process soap. The information given is based on what works for me, however, there are lots of variables associated with cold process soap making and I therefore, take no responsibility for the results achieved when using the techniques or methods explained in these tutorials. Cold process soap involves the necessary use of sodium Hydroxide (lye) which is a very dangerous substance. Lisa what an amazing friend you are. The government make it so hard for small soap and body product businesses and also the suppliers in the UK to exist, it isn't fair as the rest of the bigger continents don't have such rigorous hoops to jump through to make a living. He, he, thanks Teresa - ooh well... I've bought a shed, I needed extra space for things like my silicone moulds etc (the ones I sell). It's a 12ft by 8ft shed, and I've fitted it all out with heavy duty shelving. So anything temperature stable, like moulds (shop ones and my own) soap cutters, things I use for fairs etc are all in there and it fantastic, leaving room for my extra supplies inside the house

Lisa. Isn’t it sad when restrictions result in a good company closing. It sounds so hard in the UK and Europe for cottage industry, I’m new to making soap and similar products, for our use and gifts. Although you can give soap without running the regulations just the thought should I want to sell it would put me off even making for gifts. Although I do believe in high health and safety standards/regulations the loopholes and cost stops many from starting.
Hey Tassie Girl, it can be tough but I guess when you get use to the regulations it's a bit easier. Not sure where you are but here we cannot even give or donate soap without it having a cosmetic safety report and following the regulations unless it's to very close family only
@@IDreamInSoap in Australia Lisa we are permitted to give as a gift without any regulation applying. Next year I want to at least register as a co it’s not expensive for small one. I do my best to adhere to H&S regs as I was a nurse I have a good understanding of their worth and usage rates. The last thing I want is to produce a product which would cause potential harm to a user.
Lisa did you 3-D print that blue scraper you used for the purple layer and the white layer after your butterflies, could you tell us where or how you got it please

HI Michael, I did make the scrapers. They're not on the website as it was made specifically for this soap which was to represent someone's logo, so I don't think it would be right so sell them. But I certainly can add something similar to the shop, I'll put it on my to do list
What size do you cut your bars in. Is it 1by 3 inches?
Hi Susan, it depends on the mould size, these are cut at 2.5cm thick, they are 9cm wide and just over 8cm tall
