He told us that after three days and a few refueling the engine still run, so the garrison commender decided that this is just a waste of fuel, and ordered to stop the engine. Around 40 years later in the early 2000s the piedestal needed renovation and the garrison commander at that time ordered to move the T-34. The tank battalion commander ordered the mechanics to fill up the engine with oil, coolant, bring in a battery, check the electronics and start the tank. They succeeded at first. And the tank moved on it's own power from the piedestal, and after the renovation back to the piedestal. It is still there, ready to roll out.

After coop in Ukraine in 2014 DNR and LNR used tanks from monuments to fight against new and not legitimate government of Ukraine. That were only tanks they had at the beginning. If I am not mistaken this tank was first what was used. The tank cannon was not operational but they mounted some machineguns on top of the turret.

У нас в Новокузнецке на постаменте стоит Т-34 примерно с 60-х годов. Несколько лет назад его завели и теперь каждый День Победы его снимают с постамента и этот танк участвует в параде, потом его опять поднимают на постамент до следующего года 👍

ww2 soviet tank in general were too cramped, unreliable transmission (see t-34 losses on breaking vs losses due to fighting), no radio (poor tactics), meatshields, brittle armor and shells, poor reloading (basically moving the gun up to reload), poor optics in early war and more
and yet ironic they won the war due to sheer numbers, good armor design (slope armor), and ofc, logistics and resources which german lacks

ИС-3 стоял на постаменте в селе Александро-Калиново, что южнее Константиновки (Донбасс). Примерно в середине июня 2014-го года машину решили отправить свой последний бой. Проблема заключалась в том, что снаряды от 122-мм орудия уже не найти, особенно тогда, да и сейчас, даже осколочно-фугасные снаряды от орудия А-19 или его танкового варианта Д-25Т значительная редкость. Пришлось вооружать технику пулеметом ДШК, и именно в таком урезанном состоянии она и вступила в схватку с противником. Это произошло 30-го июня, в районе Ульяновки, там части ВСУ должны были создать блокпост, в результате чего были контратакованы ополчением, с применением танка.

Дело было не в том что невозможнонайти снаряды, а в том что башня танка была демилитаризованна и что бы еë использовать нужно было заменить ствол
У нас в Новокузнецке на постаменте стоит Т-34 примерно с 60-х годов. Несколько лет назад его завели и теперь каждый День Победы его снимают с постамента и этот танк участвует в параде, потом его опять поднимают на постамент до следующего года 👍
У нас на юности стоит 34ка, на постаменте с 56го года. Раз в 5-7 лет еë заводят.

Танку давалось 15 минут жизни в бою- в старые времена, думаю за это время мало что поменялось. Лучше когда танк всё-же есть ,чем когда его нет)

Its been regularly maintained througout the years. There are other IS3s monuments out there that will not start unless you scrap and rebuild it.
