****** Spoilers ****** @Gregory This was a profound true story and you couldn’t resist admiring and respecting Robert Shawn Peace. It’s very tragic what happened to Rob and his father. I can’t believe police offers are ok with knowingly putting the wrong person in prison just to “clear the case”. Rob could have potentially cured cancer we will never get to know now. I hope the gangster that murdered Rob knows he extinguished a bright light. Rest In Peace Rob I’m pretty sure he is in a very good place.
I was very fortunate to have had a small featured part in this movie. Director/Actor Chiwetel Ejiofor picked me that day of the shoot to be Dean of the college. He was so nice and down to earth and Jay Will (who I had the quick scene with) was also friendly and nice. He is one great actor. Anyway i made the trailer at 2:10 I look up at the window in the college as we storm our way down the hall and into his dorm. Just so proud of the movie and to have this small part in it.
It is a sad reality that is common in our community. This boy has a father who had a kid mentality. His own son was so mature and realized he had to be the “ father” of the family at age 10. He had no problem placing such a big burden on a child. You are a grown man and expect ur child to be ur savior. A real father would have accepted his fate and keep his child away so he can grow properly. This child was robbed of a normal childhood and growth. He saw himself as a better man too early amd his ego took off. There was no guidance and he didnt have any elder to lean on. He thought his gift was enough. He accomplished things but it was misguided and rooted in a sense of pride and savior complex. His mother couldnt control him and nooone could because he didnt have any role model to lean on. He was headed to a road of self destruction. His friends were just followers and noone checked him. These stories are common. Most common is about Mothers placing burden on their kid to be the savior of the family. They always buy mama and grandma their house and take them out of the hood. Such is a common dream to young kids in our community. One thing that is missing is the hand of God on those kids. This movie and biography show there was no presence of God in that family. That, to me, was the missing piece. Rob would have avoided selling drugs at all cost no matter the reason he convinced himself of. He could have lived his life, reached his full potential and realize what God wanted him to do on earth with his gift. God has an original plan for us but our free will can lead to that plan or so many other different outcome depending on our action. Only the holy spirit can help you guide you to stay on the right path and fullfill your mission on earth the expand the kingdom of God on earth.
I literally just finished the movie and I didn't know his story. Literally brought tears to my eyes. Man, he was brilliant but was just forced to grow caught between an education and freeing his dad. Man.....🙏🏽 thank y'all for telling his story.

So incredibly sad. You could analyze this a thousand different ways, and never really understand how this brilliant man could come to such a tragic end and at the same time wonder at the potential that never came to fruition. It just breaks my heart.

Thought crossed my mind to type his name into UA-cam and this is the first thing that came up. I read the book in 2016 and it DEVASTATED me. Serious meditation on how much of life is up to us and how much of life is due to factors beyond our control. He was manifestly brilliant but also made a lot of dumb choices - but with his father living that drug dealer life and going to prison for double murder when he was a kid - man. It’s a lot to think about.
Lol y’all mfs becoming white at this point.. Yall rather see fake bs to give a “false sense” of reality rather than what we we’ve ACTUALLY experienced?? Hey brother you can ignore the cancer but that don’t mean it won’t kill yourself… Take pride in us and understanding that we STILL live amongst this everyday.. It won’t change just cause you ignore it…
LOL FACTS! I'm tired of watching slave and black oppression movies or hood dudes dealing. There were black pirates, explorers, artist, samurai...there's mad stories we can tell besides us at the bottom
I flew from Houston to JFK last night on a night time flight. I saw this movie on the jet. Wow. Mind blowing. This was one of the most dramatic, compelling movies I've ever seen. Chiwetel's performance is incredible. But, the main actor is outstanding. What's his name? anybody know? This movie had so many twists and turns. You felt bad for the kid. you feetl great for him whne he succeeded. I'm so glad I saw end before we deplaned at JFK!
Crazy how i saw NO PROMO FOR THIS FILM. Like i dont understand Paramount, with all the lost they have encountered you would think they would highlight this film with so many big stars and such powerful storytelling! #WAKEUP
Brother Jay Will, you are well on your way to becoming one of the greatest actors of this era! Rob Peace is a good movie; however, you killed it in Tulsa King! 👏🏾 😀 🙌🏾 👍🏾 🙏🏾
This film has been in development since shortly after the book came out… been waiting to see what they did with the story. I truly hope they do Rob’s story justice… the book was devastating but eye opening, looking forward to this one
I can’t lie the dad made me so angry his son sacrificed everything yet lost everything. I can’t stop crying 😭 he was far too brilliant I’m so angry this was the ending another tragedy why does it have to be that way
I saw this at Sundance and loved it. I am glad it is now playing in theaters so I can see it again this weekend! Mary and the cast were excellent and the true story captured me in a way that made me feel like I knew them.
She should never be cast in any Black movie after her remarks. Its so funny how Hollywood can vilify Balck actors and blacklist them, but she could be racist towards a black person and still get cast in a movie to kiss that N that she talked about.
@@SIN7ALLAH So I'm lost because I show support to an artist I follow? I didn't diminish the movie, the storyline or any other actors. "No offense" but it's all in your head.

I love Camila Cabello. I am very happy about her work as an actress and her new album "C, XOXO". Camila is multi-talented. She has demonstrated her love for art and her ability to maintain peace in any situation, despite all the provocations from some people. You are a warrior, Camila! My Latina, German friends and I are going to see the movie. 🇨🇺🇧🇪👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🫶🏾🫶🏾💪🏾👑
I see that there are a lot of people from the industry plugged in on this post to hype up Camila. I will never again buy her album because she did not like black people. She was a racist, even while using Black culture to come UP.
Such a tragic story and unfortunately I know a few like him. His father put all of that pressure on a brilliant mind and it just encouraged him to make bad decisions. You think the father guilty/innocent wanted his son to focus on his studies and get out of that neighborhood. And his mom worked 3 jobs to get him out of there. I wish I could have seen his work grow, there are too few of us black scientist.

I dont know why people are being mean, can't Camila's fans be excited about her new project! Ofcourse we are gonna talk about her cause we are here for her, that doesn't mean we are disrespecting others. So excited for the movie btw❤
Mary J. Blige is a legend and all yall keep talking about is Camilla, who is barely in the clip and not a central character. It's just unbalanced, that's all.
@@AngelMiles-b4hNot to mention the racist things she’s said about black people while using those same people to catapult her acting career. It’s a tale as old as time though.
@nik-at-nite it's giving we don't care about black people or black stories unless mediocre white artists are involved. Hollywood knows this and enables it. It's annoying. Like this story is about a real person. The film addresses real issues I can relate to as a black person, and yet the main focus of the story gets sidelined by the mere mentioned of a white artist, Latina or not. Just frustrating but not surprising. All this black excellence in the film and all a white woman had to do was flash her name and face and she takes up all the space. Chiwetle is Oscar Nominated, BAFTA winning. MJB is Grammy and Emmy winning. Make it make sense? And I saw Camila's performance in that Cinderella movie, it was not good. Billy Porter was the best part of that whole film. So I don't know what anyone is getting all excited about with Camila but go off I guess.
To my family members who read the book and will see this film, don't be upset. We know the truth, the whole truth about Shawn, Uncle Skeet and everything else. They are resting in peace and have been reborn. Don't allow Hollywood or anyone else's perception make you feel any kind of way. Remember what's real and what's not.
Watched them shoot this movie in parts of East Orange. Knowing his story beforehand and the selfishness of his daddy, makes this movie even more interesting.
If this movie didnt get nominated by any of the oscars nominations whether the best actor or suppoorting actor or best movie etc i will biycott the oscars just Jada years ago. His mother couldnt control him and nooone could because he didnt have any role model to lean on. He was headed to a road of self destruction. His friends were just followers and noone checked him. These stories are common. Most common is about Mothers placing burden on their kid to be the savior of the family. They always buy mama and grandma a house. Something father and grandfather couldnt do. Such a big burden on a child, right? The only missing piece i notice in the story is God. There was no presence of God in that family. This kid had no chance.
So incredibly sad. You could analyze this a thousand different ways, and never really understand how this brilliant man could come to such a tragic end and at the same time wonder at the potential that never came to fruition. It just breaks my heart.
Placing such a big burden on a child.
Damn can we happy black movie for once in a lifetime? Smh, our life ain't always about trauma or drugs
I agree.
I agree 😢
Lol y’all mfs becoming white at this point.. Yall rather see fake bs to give a “false sense” of reality rather than what we we’ve ACTUALLY experienced?? Hey brother you can ignore the cancer but that don’t mean it won’t kill yourself… Take pride in us and understanding that we STILL live amongst this everyday.. It won’t change just cause you ignore it…
I knew I was not the only one.
His name is Jay Will.
Jay Will!!!! Let’s go!!!
This planet here, and this energy is everywhere worldwide, pressure and bad situations
Such a great movie to the last moment. I’m watching it again tonight
Y'all know this movie is not abt Camilla Cabello...geesh...I'm here for MJB and Chiwetel.
She is not main actress, true, but she brings attention and people to the movie, so what's the problem?
I mean at least it will get people to watch the movie
Funny, she's the reason I'm out
She should not have been cast in it with the comments she made
Who cares about that racist
Here for Jay Will❤
I read the book on Rob Peace. Highly recommend to read it before checking out the movie.
Amazing movie loved every bit of it rob really played his part wow
One of the best books I've ever read.
This is the last gasp of DEI in Hollywood..like r u kidding me this shits done
This movie was awesome and yet very touching..Gotta watch this one again!
This film has been in development since shortly after the book came out… been waiting to see what they did with the story. I truly hope they do Rob’s story justice… the book was devastating but eye opening, looking forward to this one
Phenomenal film about the inner strength and grace under fire that keeps you powering forward!
I can't believe they made this into a film! I can't wait to see it!
I can’t lie the dad made me so angry his son sacrificed everything yet lost everything. I can’t stop crying 😭 he was far too brilliant I’m so angry this was the ending another tragedy why does it have to be that way
Camila looks so beautiful 💕 This movie looks really great! Cant wait to watch
Smh

I saw this at Sundance and loved it. I am glad it is now playing in theaters so I can see it again this weekend! Mary and the cast were excellent and the true story captured me in a way that made me feel like I knew them.
❤❤Thank You for sharing your Story. May Rob and His Father RIP 🙏 😢 💔 😔 Choices...
It all started from his dad if only he told his son to live his life he really pressured him I saw one scene and just irritated me
The Father Son relationship here has me sold! I have to see this!
Came Here for my multi Talented Baby girl Camila Cabello❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
She should never be cast in any Black movie after her remarks. Its so funny how Hollywood can vilify Balck actors and blacklist them, but she could be racist towards a black person and still get cast in a movie to kiss that N that she talked about.
here for Camila, stayed for the story
why camila is so basic and bad
you ain't able to do half of what she does @@dkdebest
Naw she's a racist
camila the racist doing a PR stunt
Lots of great actors& great director Antione Fuqua 😊
Jay will a Star❤
I just watched this movie and its excellent. Robert's life is truely a tragedy.
🤩 Chiwetel Ejiofor!!! 😍 I JUST bought my ticket and am spreading the word about this film!
Also, requesting it be shown in more local theaters. 😃👌🏾

@@SIN7ALLAH So I'm lost because I show support to an artist I follow? I didn't diminish the movie, the storyline or any other actors. "No offense" but it's all in your head.
@FernandoCastaneda247 THE VIDEO AND PURPOSE, AND MESSAGE.... YOU BY PASSED AND WENT DIRECTLY TO GIRLFRIEND (CAMILA), .. I LIKE HER TOO BUT.. GO ON HER PAGE, HER IG, HER SUPPORT HER IN HER LEAD ROLE MOVIE... DON'T BYPASS, OVERLOOK,IGNOR THE ACTUAL POINT,MESSAGE,CREATOR OF THE MOVIE... I'm reading the book now. Very excited to see this film

I never thought camila cabello and Mary j blige would b in a movie tv show video game any of them 2gether out of all them
I love Camila Cabello.
Excellent movie! This movie will change lives!
CAMILA WE LUV ITTTT
this cast is amazing the story is amazing so excited for the movie
This is a must see movie. Great casting!
True. P lacing such a big burden on a child.
@@nik-at-nite great point!
I never heard of fandom having to be balanced haha wtf
Can't wait
To my family members who read the book and will see this film, don't be upset. We know the truth, the whole truth about Shawn, Uncle Skeet and everything else. They are resting in peace and have been reborn. Don't allow Hollywood or anyone else's perception make you feel any kind of way. Remember what's real and what's not.
I’m trying not to .. hi I’m Shaun’s first cousin Corey on his mom side..
I read the book, anxious to see the movie.
Watched them shoot this movie in parts of East Orange. Knowing his story beforehand and the selfishness of his daddy, makes this movie even more interesting.
Love Jay Will in Tulsa King!
Camila cabello ❤❤❤
SOLD!! i will check this out.
If this movie didnt get nominated by any of the oscars nominations whether the best actor or suppoorting actor or best movie etc i will biycott the oscars just Jada years ago.
