  • In honor of #Juneteenth, USS Constitution Museum Public Historian Carl Herzog welcomed distinguished scholars Justene Hill Edwards, Associate Professor in the Corcoran Department of History at the University of Virginia, and Ryan Quintana, Associate Professor of History at Wellesley College, for a fascinating conversation on the entwined history of slavery and the harvesting of live oak timbers in coastal Georgia for USS Constitution and the United States Navy in the 1790s.
