    Love the vids. I been using the pancake drill with the foam roller. Getting the hips to roll in the pancake is very difficult for me.

    "We teach people how to move and not just how to exercise"
    1. Ostrich walk for 2-5 minutes to get warm. Keep legs straight and keep weight on front leg and bounce up and down and walk forwards
    2. Weighted hamstring stretch - static. Scapular retraction. Hold for 30 seconds
    3. Bum elevated pancake stretch. 10kg plate on back. Three reps with toes plantarflexed and three reps with toes dorsiflexed. Pancake has to be excellent in order to proceed. Need to get to 45 degrees
    Strength
    5. Hang from bar. Knees to chest. Toes to bar. Straddle legs to bar
    6. Pike compression dynamic using large round ball or use gymnastic sliders
    Actual practice
    7. Straddle Eccentric press to handstand. Keep bum on the wall but not the shoulder. 2-6 reps
    Compression Practice
    8. Seated on floor, compression practice. Legs in circles outwards and then inwards,
    9. Practice pancakes static

    Your a kid. I'm 56 and started back after hitting 110kgs. I'm down to 84-85 now and working on a lot of these exercises. Your keeping it real when a lot of channels are putting up stuff only elite athletes will ever do. Enjoying the channel.

    This was amazing. I’m older than you and always had the dream of learning gymnastics. I didn’t get to learn it as a child, but wanted to so bad. I feel I could have been really good. I had recently been on the search for a gym that has adult gymnastics classes or even an open gym, and of course there were none in my area, and especially none that had any adult classes. I am super flexible, like doing the splits flexible, I have a trampoline and enjoy doing some self taught flipping The one thing I would love to learn is a back tuck or handspring!! It’s so great to finally find so that wants to teach gymnastics related things to adults, and you are right, videos for learning anything like this are solely geared for kids. I hope you do more gymnastics related videos!

    • @jin394
      @jin394 2 роки тому

      I know this is a year later, but if this is still a goal of yours and you're looking for classes, I suggest looking up gyms that teach things like parkour, freerunning, circus arts, aerial. IDK where you are located, but near me those types of gyms are more adult oriented than the gymnastic gyms near me are. Personally I go to a parkour/freerunning gym and we do work on flip and tumbling skills including handsprings, and there are people in their 50s and up who go! I didn't learn as a kid either so it's great to be able to work on it now (tho I'm still only in my 20s). Hope you are able to train it!

    Thanks! I used to not be able to do this, but my parents and whole family said to stop trying and just re,as get fat and watch TV.I really didn't want to so I kept on going! Eventually I was still doing it for 8 months and I still couldn't do it.I (of course)STILL didn't stop and tried to do it, so I saw my friend at school sophie doing SO MUCH amazing press handstands splits and so much cool tricks.I got a little jealous but still I kept it back out of my mind.Eventually I figured out how my friend learnt it by watching step-by-step videos, so I tried them ALL but they were really going like....straight forward to the next LEVEL.I was gonna give up until I tried this last video......
    2 months later
    And it worked and I did it...Thanks dude!

    I'm 32 I started almost 4 months ago I'm trying to learn this myself I found that it's all in the flexibility and how much you can extend your wrist for the back roll.

    • @UnityGymOnline
      @UnityGymOnline  4 роки тому

      Yes SG, but although the wrist may seem like your limited factor, you should not be leaning to far forwards. Compression strength and flexibility is a better focus for your training. Leaning forwards does require wrist strength and mobility, but you'll find it hard to stay up with so much weight over your wrists.

I work in a gym, have lost my passion for weights after doing lots of yoga, so to be honest I feel a little out of shape, but I’m still around 10 percent body fat, but you know I really have been just dabbling in some animal movement and I really want to get this press to handstand nailed. When it comes to the wall lowering, I can’t round my back at all, and when I lower I just fall away from the wall, but i am going to stick to it, I’m just thinking of getting my workouts back on track Monday, as I’m still planning my routine, but I don’t want to neglect mobility.

    Hi Rad. I'm around 2 months into my press to handstand journey and this video along with the intermediate routine is really helping. I have one technical question if I may; when I perform the press against the wall and allow my my head to press into the wall I can perform the full movement from toes off the floor up to handstand and return. I have tried to perform it without the head touching and its a real struggle just to perform the negative. By letting the head assist (touch) what strength or technical improvements of the movement am I missing out on? Are the head touching wall presses still worth doing or a no, no? Any help will be warmly received.

    • @UnityGymOnline

    • @UnityGymOnline
      @UnityGymOnline  3 роки тому

      Mathias, this is because you have not yet conditioned your muscles to the required level of contraction at the end range. Don't worry though keep training the straddle and the cramping will ease. more exposure to the position and you'll adapt.

  • @RandomEntertainClips

    I did the mobility routine yesterday and my hamstrings are pretty soar today, I definitely don’t think it’s a good idea to work through this soreness. Do you think I should wait until the softness goes away? I don’t see how it can be done 6 days a week for me right now

    • @UnityGymOnline
      @UnityGymOnline  5 років тому +1

      Hey MJS - yes, let your muscles and tendons settle down a little. You may have pushed it too hard, or you have some adaptation ahead that will increase tissue tolerance and resilience. Either way, just embrace it … it's all part of your journey.
      Remember, try not to train above 70% max effort in the early stages. This will help you stick to your planned frequency. Let us know how you go.
