2020 Crown Championships of Cosplay

- In the cosplay world, there is no bigger (and far-reaching) event than the Championships of Cosplay. Occurring at shows in Paris, Vienna, London, New York City, Seattle, Miami and other locales, the winners for each regional competition are then flown to Chicago's C2E2 to compete in the global championships. In short, some of the best cosplay in the world finds itself at C2E2.
The 2020 edition was no different, with a spellbinding array of cosplay in such categories as Needlework, FX, and Armor. But a description doesn't do it justice: here now is the Crown Championships of Cosplay. Enjoy!

people don't understand why moira won but their costume was so sleek and clean, the led lights and effort and the ability to switch between damage and healing makes it so good and amazing

What’s funny is the prize money isn’t even A fraction of what these people spend making the costumes.

@@amochi7554 Oh boi that one for sure caught that staff guy by surprise coz I didn't tell anyone what I was gonna do lol. I got another video taken by my partner from behind the stage when the detonator hit the staff he was like "wtf" then my partner apologize for me while laughing but the staff guy didn't smile nor say anything lol

There's a lot of criteria like quality, resistance and stuff that can't be seen at first glance !

the lads who know there Arduino stuff have an edge on costumes the mech movements them helmets that move parts & guns & lights that pop up
just seen that w o w 2017 blizzard contest was awesome so many great costumes
I'm working on one now ,that has over 4000 LEDs , 20 motors and 12 servos in his head , I've been working on it for years , I'm competing in master class though
The attitude that guy had saying that he makes all his money talking was so uncalled for. Not to mention that he couldn’t pronounce half of the words that were written down

Ayo why tf did Moira place how they did?? Obviously they were good but their cosplay did NOT stand up to the international ones at all wtf
we need a dutch international winner or benelux one.
It is a shame that the back drops are so boring. Where is the castle, the cave or mysterious forest? There is not even a smoke machine!. The contenders spend so much time money and effort on their clothes yet the developers of the night spend nothing on the stage/set. This event and venue could look so good and attract a huge international audience if it was managed correctly.
COVID-19 never stopped this contest
This was posted back in April and was probably recorded before then. Covid wasn't really a big thing until the end of March.
Me:**snickers**..well ..technically most were wearing masks.
This gives me an idea: how about of everyone in the contest wear costumes that include masks.
I was the Scarecrow Junkrat. This event was at the end of Febuary when Covid already making headlines in China but people still allow to travel. Btw I got fever and terrible headache 3 days after this event but I didn't go to hospital, just rest at my home for more than 10 days. So I'm not sure it was Covid or not but definitely killing me :/

The judging WAS fishy. And it will hurt the cosplay competition in the future. I mean who wanna put money and effort in a costume if you know you just cannot win because your not part of the "clique and friends". This is disgusting.
@@masterdeere Sometimes that is the case of fishiness, but more often than not, people who are good at cosplay tend to make friends and do groups with other people on their same level. When you make it to masters there isn't much you can do but learn from and be buds with other masters who tend to get asked to be judges after enough years pass by...... which means you are friends with judge and those who win. That doesn't mean its suddenly a clique.. it just means birds of a feather tend to flock together and you are really good at what you do and hit all the points of judging frequently enough to win often.
Its hard to beat people who seem to always win and they know all the judges, but its because they are usually genuinely good at what they do and deserve a win for their blood sweat and tears they put into their outfit.
If anything being friends with judges is very difficult as you cannot talk about your projects ever, you cannot ask friends opinion on how to fix an issue with your outfit or get feedback before hand to alter anything. Its very lonely at times spending hundreds of hours on cosplay no able to say a word so the competition is fair, and THEY JUDGE YOU HARSHER because they know what you are capable of and expect more out of you than others. If someone won, THEY DESERVED IT 9/10 times.
Some wins aren't based on what is seen, but what isn't seen underneath and the seer creativity to make something impossible now possible. Keep that in mind as well. It isn't a look alike or popularity contest either.
I have seen only one or two times a judge who honestly doesn't know how to judge that causes issues in judging, or the judging rules/criteria, etc.... that causes issues with how a cosplay contest is run that can cause unfairness issues. Most of the time this is not the case and its understandable that people who don't win get salty after a few years in a row losing to those who do win a lot.
I find just being polite, asking for feedback, and learning from the cosplayer who is winning; what it is that got them there.... what did they do..... ECT.... can clue one in into what it takes to win so frequently so you can incorporate those same elements/skills into your next cosplay is the best help towards winning the next time. Complaining and whining just gets you a poor sport repulation.
