I currently work as a mechanic on Brunswick A 2s and I would seriously consider starting an alley with these machines! Maybe not for league players but for recreational users and there are plenty of them out there! I can also envision non sanctioned leagues as I'm not sure if string bowling is acceptable in the bowling Congress.
@@Dogappel Have you seen the comparison video of the tournament in Florida where the average scores were almost identical? Maintenance is also a consideration as one video points out, where his teenagers can perform most Maintenance.
To all the snotty, negative commenters, I have to say... YOU HAVE CLEARLY NEVER PURCHASED A PINSETTER! Or maintained one. And are possibly deaf. This machine definitely has it's place.
Oh yeah it has its place alright ! Place in the dump ! These things are garbage with inaccurate pin action, tangled pins and if you have kids at the age of 3 or 5 something like that, don't let them play Bowling on StringPins because they would roll their balls so slow that the balls would just sit on the pindeck and don't even throw another one yourself to knock it off the pindeck, otherwise you'll risk of tangled pins. I'm not a mechanic but I've experienced clearing AMF pin jams at my local Bowling Center and I was enjoyed by that, better than sleeping behind a bunch of StringPin. If I want a pinsetter, give me the GS-NXT cause that's authentic pin action I'll get and it gives more jobs for the people in my country (Philippines) where poverty and unemployment exists. If you give me a StringPin, I'll hire only 1 person NOT WORTH IT let alone with crappy pin action.
@@Pfd51ff I wouldn't bowl on this pinsetter at all even if its only practice. I'm a Pinsetter enthusiast this thing takes away the fun of watching pins flying around and also watching a traditional pinsetter running like I love watching the sweep coming down then the table came down picking the pins up and the sweep pushes the knocked down pins and places the remaining pins back on the deck.
At :30 you will see the PMI, or pin motion interface, when the strings move a certain distance, a magnet activates a switch telling the CPU the pin was knocked over.
Still a poor answer for the main problem in bowling pinsetters -- namely placing the pins EXACTLY where they were before the downed pins are swept clear. Sometimes, pins don't fall over but are scooted a bit off of their mark. These auto-pinsetters always put them back to their original position, rather than returning them to the position they were picked up from.
@@keithchrysler3732 Then this machine is worthless, no out of range, no messengers and more of the silly pin action like the 10 pin gets tipped over by the string of the 6 pin. So I would pick the GS-NXT anyday, its much more compact and less problems than the GSX. Maintainace costs ? Yeah...hire people set pins by hand.
I wish these crappy pinsetters won't make it worldwide. I don't care if they're already installed in America and Europe but as long as not here in Southeast Asia cause many Bowling centers that had AMF's or Brunswick GS had no trouble with maintainance costs. Especially here in the Philippines that majority of Bowling centers here are standard (meaning they don't go overboard of making the bowling center look cosmetic, all they want is the gameplay of Bowling to earn money) so don't talk to me about Bowling as Open play is the trend now cause League Bowling is still strong here and it made more money than slow open play, League is pretty much the #1Priority a Filipino Bowling center should value the service to. Only problem with Bowling in the Philippines is that the rest of the country had limited bowling centers outside the capital of Manila, mainly people can't afford of making one and also no big corporations were interested.
Eh not entirely. Messengers yes are completely removed, but if you want to count strings from other pins knocking each other down instead of just the pins as luck, well then there's quite a bit
The resistance is psychological. In our subconscious mind when we strike an obstacle (in this case bowling pins) and it falls over our minds say we 'defeated' or overcame that obstacle. But when we knock over the pins with strings we still know that while the pin might have been 'defeated ' the strings are still very much intact. If the strings themselves also became detached from the pinsetter machine when we strike a pin it would be easier to accept this new technology.
Message to Brunswick (AMF and Murrey can listen in too) - So guys, if the concern is for the cost of new machines in centers that allegedly cannot afford the standard free-fall machines, why not put your money, time and efforts towards coming up with an efficient, safe and affordable machine instead of suckering people into thinking this 'garbage compactor' as the way to go??? .... String-pin bowling is TRASH and a FRAUD to the game of REAL BOWLING!!
It kinda seems like it is but, the maintenance is way less and makes the house more money! Recreational bowlers will flock to it because it looks funky and they don't break down nearly as often. League play, probably not although there have been tournaments already with 97%approval ratings!
@@keithchrysler3732 Let's be real, Pinboys can do the same thing as Strings of having less maintainance work while retaining the Free Fall Pin Action. So if I want less maintainance then I would rather hire anyone setting pins by hand than buying this junk of machine that doesn't let pins fly like birds but hang them as if they're suicide. Even that one AMF Bowling center in Ethiopia scrapped their 82-30's for Pinboys which is the best thing they did instead of closing that place down.

Looks like a grand piano in the back
Can pin size be changed with these types of setters? Like if you wanted to swap to duck pin or candle pin could the machine accommodate it?
Keep this away from my bowling center.
Greatly altered pin action and takes away from the game itself hope the usbc never sanctions lanes that use these

StringPin yes, traditional free fall pinsetters place pins exactly where they were found.
Some string pinsetters are capable of resetting up to 11 tryst to ensure proper pin spotting. No out of ranges EVER!

USBC, obviously, cannot sanction any of these lanes...
They haven't yet but, we'll see. Especially if the technology improves.
They already did August 1st 2023
This does effect pin action...not a fun time to hit splits or send messengers

But the whole purpose of the string is to prevent the pins from being free roaming. GSX would be the Pinsetter without strings.
Why not at least try this in a league and see how it goes, at least see what the average is for 3 games on a regular and 3 on the string
Not real bowling.
