How does GPS system work?

- The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system that helps determine a GPS receiver position. This video provides a tutorial on the different segments of GPS system (Satellite constellation, Ground Control Stations). It explains how the GPS determines its position using the Trilateration principle, and provides the source of error that affect the GPS position accuracy.

Your so amazing bro !! What a explanation !! 😁😁😁 You did a good job !! Well done !
Thank you so much 😀
This explanation is the clearest and most thorough about the GPS system on youtube, thank you for making it. The information I'm trying to track down is 'the maximum theoretical limit of GPS refresh rate'. I initially assumed that the satellites sent pulses, but actually they seem to send a continuous bitstream. This makes me wonder why the fastest commercial GPS units calculate your position at 100Hz. I understand that there may be no point calculating at 1000Hz (because there aren't many things you need to track that frequently, and in that time the object won't have moved out of the 30cm circle position that is the max accuracy the system can give you), but I'd still love a further explanation of what the limits of GPS would be (with current broadcast frequencies) especially when it comes to how often you could obtain a meaningful new position update for a receiver.
Can't probably find a better (clear+short) explanation! Thank you so much!!!
Glad it was helpful!. Makes me think I should add more tech videos 🙂
@@TechiTube Sure!
Very good and understandable presentation. I have been researching how the signals are generated by the GPS satellites for use in the reciever. I had no idea how much external input is required for error correction via ground control. It appears as though the system would become worthless in a few days if not constantly corrected. Very enlightening. Thank you.
You are welcome!
Congratulations this has to be one of the best explanations I've ever seen!! Thank you
You're very welcome! Glad it was helpful.
Explanation is really good. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Best explanation that I ever seen. Thanks !
You did very excellent in this video.. god bless you sm
Thank you so much!
Absolutely phenomenal. It was a chance encounter that I discovered this video after having watched tens of them which were half baked.
I have been looking for a video like this for a while. Excellent video!
An excellent and distinct elucidation. Thank you so so much.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This video has clarified my understanding of GPS. Thanks for the clarity!!!
Great to hear!
The best video ever on this subject I guess
Thank you so much for making this great video! Helped me to understand the trilateration and the requirement of 4 satellites!
You're very welcome!
Phenomenally great explanation! Thanks for putting in the time and effort!
My pleasure!
The best I have listened to on UA-cam on GPS 👍👍👍👏
Thank you. Glad to hear that.
very good explanation sending love from pakistan
Thank you very much as this video was quite informative to me as I am a trainee deck cadet on board merchant ship so I have to learn about all the navigation equipments being used onbard ships and GPS is one of them.
So thank you once again.🙏
I found it very helpful and interesting! it has answered the questions i have been wondering how! thank you alot brother! keep it up!!!
Glad to hear it!
Outstanding explanation!
Glad it was helpful!
great explanation, thank you!
First comment on this video👏👍. Glad you enjoyed it!
wow amazing make an other video on these topic thanks my brother
Amazingly explained
Thanks for the explanation! This inspires me to check your other videos also. Good luck to you!
Awesome! Thank you!
great work, thanks
Simple but comprehensive ❤❤❤
Excellent video, thank you
You are welcome!
Wow great video. Thanks very much
Glad you liked it!
I will be so grateful if you could also make a video on different codes generated by GPS satellites and their purposes.
Excellent presentation.
Thank you kindly!
super good video. Thanks a lot
You are welcome
Excellent explanation. Is the satellite sending a continuous signal to the GPS receiver or is the signal sent at intervals?
Good session
really well done...
This was amazing and thank you for putting this together. At 24:05 - Isn't 45 - 7 = 38... not 35?
It was amazing. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent explanations. I learned a lot.
The only bit that is unclear to me is how does the GPS receiver generate its own GPS signal to compare to the received signal? Does it just guess when it should create it? Does it get this timing info from the satellite?
I understand the errors and how they are calculated, but for determining the initial pseudorange, I don't get how the receiver makes the signal "exactly" when the satellite does
"The GPS receiver uses a process called differential GPS, which compares the time from the GPS receiver’s clock to the time from a ground-based GPS reference station. By comparing the two times, the GPS receiver can calculate and correct any time errors."
Good job! 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you!
good job!
Thanks!👍
for the algorithm, beautiful job.
Thank you
AMAZING!
whatever covered iw very well explained
Thanks
ITs help me a lot thanks veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery much
Happy to help
Appreciated.
Tnx
Thank you, sir, for this great explanation but I have one question there is a signal from satellite to receiver the question is (is there signal from receiver to satellite?).
No. there is not a signal from the receiver to the satellite.
How does a GPS receiver determine from which satellites it is receiving the signal ?
Each one transmits an unique signal
Maybe some day I will understand.
You mean it can t move without placing it on a very powerful airplane placed at its orbital with space rocket .wow I think your theory is interesting , you mean every satellite works on standard parameters that somewhere there is a communication between your four satellites placed on 22k kilometers or that each one of them provides a different signal intensity . That position is calculated through analysing some parameters and combining them .
So GPS prove earth is flat or a globe ?
