    Nag, I should really say this. This is very crystal clear, I had watched couple of videos about aggregations but the way you explained is awesome. Kudos (y)

      @@AnalyticswithNags Sure, I used to give Cognos and Tableau trainings earlier. The way you explained reminds me my old days. Keep doing. For sure I will recommend this channel in my connections.

    It's amazing! Thanks so much! But I wonder, every time user open this report on power bi service, the direct query run, does it update the aggregate table or not! Or the aggregate table only update when we do the schedule refresh or manual refresh the semantic model? Thanks!

    Thanks for your video. Why are you setting the aggregate table to import mode?? Why can't you set the detail table to import and the aggregate table to direct query mode?

    • @AnalyticswithNags
      @AnalyticswithNags  2 роки тому

      Detail table has more data that is why it should stay in source

    Hi Nag, very informative and explained very clearly.
    In case one more dimension : Region is added.
    So it will be only connected with details table and not necessarily linked with aggregation table ?
    It that case will it be balanced architecture and that Region dimension will not be called dual table?

    thanks for ur explaination on directquerymode....what will be the approach for importmode if we want to reduce the number of rows from billions to millions? pls answer @AnalyticswithNags

    • @AnalyticswithNags
      @AnalyticswithNags  Рік тому

      Not fully understanding your query.
      In order to reduce billions to millions need to understand what columns you should ignore and group by. Then you can use the reduced dataset

    One doubt, Whenever you select the sales column in fact table, how powerbi is taking sum of sales in aggregated table? From which step it is going to happen?
    What if we add a measure like
    sumx(
    fact,
    [sales]
    )
    ?
    will that pick the sales amount from the aggregated table?
    Currently we are using direct query mode and if we need to add aggs into datamodel, do we need to change all the measures which is pointing to fact table?

    Hi Nag, thanks for explaining 😊. I have a small doubt, when you are setting aggregations you've said group by columns are optional. Does this mean it will consider group by command automatically?? Please explain 😊

    • @AnalyticswithNags
      @AnalyticswithNags  2 роки тому +1

      I might be pointing out aggregation are optional.. in group by columns are mandatory

    Very Nice explanation Nag.. I have one doubt ,finally the view is hidden and connected with factinternetsales. why should we create aggregation in power bi, using this aggreagations we can maintain large datasets, speed up the refresh and reduce the model size but finally the factinternet sales will be more colulmns. you are not using sales _agg table, can u explain it

    • @AnalyticswithNags
      @AnalyticswithNags  3 роки тому +1

      Aggregate table is hidden , because you need to use column from fact tables only. Based on columns used in report the data answered from aggregate table or Fact table
