Hello Dr Taylor, since your education and my consultation with you, I've adjusted well to the hrt. Thank you as always! I have a question as I'm listening and re listening on preventing Alzheimer's. I've heard more than once and clearly in the one on distraction and focus, that better for brain to learn when not distracted. I am almost always working (work with dogs) while I'm listening to podcasts.y eyes have been opened and I've learned alot this way, but is it actually harmful or just that material doesn't store to memory as well? The add feeling that came with menopause has cleared up since hrt, but I am bored while working and found this fills that while I learn new material. Any thoughts?
No matter how much you think you are able to concentrate with distraction, you are just kidding yourself. What really happens is that your brain shifts from one thing to another (no matte how small and no matter how short a period of time). But the end result is that same: You lose some of the focus that would have helped prevent Alzheimer's. So you are actually sabotaging 2 things: (1) Your ability to learn new things and (2) Your ability to prevent Alzheimer's. If you feel bored, it's because the material you are addressing is not challenging enough to prevent Alzheimer's in the first place. Remember, that one of the qualifications is that it be difficult. It should make your head hurt.
