Voivod had mainly flew under my radar until a friend toted the new album as album of the year. I then dug into this album and was truly blown away. What rock have I been living under the last 40 years? Since I've been digging a bit into the old catalog I'm really impressed with Chewy's ability and that he managed to keep Piggy's style alive. Really glad to finally give these gents an honest listen. Now a fan.
I finally had time to listen to this album today, and honestly. So far. This is my number one best album this year to me, it felt like a rock opera, and again, this gives me the opportunity to dive into another discography, 5/5 for me.
I fkn love this album and i've only had it for two days. I can't stop listening to it, reading about it et al... It's genius. I wish they'd bloody tour Australia. \m/
The album is fun show of accurate technical prowess. Enjoyable from start to finish. It's the first album of the band's new era I have really enjoyed. It has me hyped again to listen to their full discography.
EN: Excuse my intrusion. I believe that with '' Synchro Anarchy '' the Voivods crown their long career. It is an amazing project in every sense, from the refinement of the sound to the mixing that I find simply amazing the construction of the songs totally in line Voivod, powerful and never tiring songs. Yes it's true I love Voivods, each of their albums, I have followed them from their first steps until today. And I can't find any other original band like them, there are, but they are copies ... they are telling a long story, can they like it or not, are they niche? yes of course, for this reason they keep their originality. Great album great album.
I've been listening to metal for about 30 years and I've never listened to Voivod... I'm going to download a few albums on my phone, thanks for making me pay attention to them.
Same here, into metal since 1990. The hype is there, the songwriting is not. Always dig metal genres blending bands when done right as a Nevermore fan but this is not the case
Literally sitting here waiting for the mail to deliver my copy of Synchro Anarchy today. Only one thing can top this album in 2022, and that is Voivod touring Europe this year again. I see great things coming.
Absolutely agree my man. Been playing Synchro Anarchy over and over. Killer video for Planet Eaters…Their recent live set at Reggie’s in Chicago I have watched several times. Band is on TOP of thier Legendary status 🤘❤️🤘
Going through a Fun massive Discog Binge of Amorphis, Immolation and of course VOIVOD. I have VERY high expectations for this album to At least match the greatness of the Wake. Which was my favorite Voivod album post Phobos.
I need to hear this one. I discovered Voivod back in 2014, curiously with The Outer Limits. I enjoy all eras of Voivod so I think I will like this new record. Going to check out that interview with Snake!
Really excited to hear this one. I'm a big fan of this band as well; I don't think they have a bad album (closest being Negatron, but it's still enjoyable). What next? How about a Voivod discography ranking video!
It doesn't click for everyone at first. I highly recommend listening to full albums rather than random songs. The entire run from Killing Technology up to and including Phobos is fantastic and The Wake is one of the most inventive and engaging prog metal albums I've ever heard (their 14th album nearly 40 years in no less!). Personal favourite being The Outer Limits. Get ready for a wild ride!
I started listening to this album and I thought it was kinda weird. So I rolled and smoked a joint thinking that would make it better. I enjoyed it more after I smoked it but being honest by the end I couldn’t wait to cut the shit off
Ah yes voivod ...killer necks , one of my favorite albums by them was dimension Hatros , however this!!! Ah this album ...is no joke there will be no buyer's remorse here I'll so say that ...now perhaps I'm wrong here however seems to get better with every listen and find stuff in there that I missed the first time ...or two killer album indeed 😋💯🤘👊🧠
Author and Canadian Martin Popoff was doing so well for a while listening to bands like Rush and Voivod, but recently he hit rock bottom by picking bands like Lake of Tears as his favorite. Hopefully this new Voivod album can be like rehab, and help him get his life back.
He likes a lot of stuff that I don't really enjoy (I also think lake of tears are quite cool though and have an eccentric charm to them), but he also likes good stuff -- doesn't really matter, the man has a lot of knowledge and perspective. I'll listne to him just like I listen to Meltdown now -- we don't all have to agree on stuff like what bands are the greatest out there and in fact it's more interesting if we don't.
Just out of curiosity, no snark intended, why was this not a 5 out of 5? To me it's 10 out of 5 and I bought the first VoiVod album when it was originally released so I'm an old hat. What Album(s) have you classified as 5 out of 5? Anyway, awesome review of an awesome album by an awesome band!
a 5/5 album for me can't just be good, it has to move me. It can't just be well made, it needs to connect with me on a deeply emotional level, it has to be big and bold and unlike anything else. It has to be a masterpiece. As good as this album is (and it is VERY, VERY, VERY GOOD) its also NONE of those things, not for me at least. It's also important for me to not give out a 5/5 very often. Too often metalheads just stamp a score like that onto any album with big chunky riffs and wild guitar solo's, and I feel like calling something a masterpiece or perfect loses its impact with time when metalheads do exactly this over and over again. This album is incredible, but respectfully, for me, not a 5/5 experience.
I listened to this the other day, I wasn't that huge on it personally. The production wasn't the greatest for me, a bit too dry and confined even, but they sound interesting so I should probably listen to something else by them. Any recs?
@@themetalmeltdownofficial You reviewed their previous album, Ballistic, Sadistic, when it dropped two years ago, although that album does have a CRINGY song called "Lip Service", which is about cunnilingus.
@@themetalmeltdownofficial I forgot to say the title of the new Annihilator album. It's called Metal II! It's a rerecording of their 2007 album Metal with some new tracks added, including the FINAL recorded appearance of Alexi Laiho [RIP].
Ps as soon as I saw this video I instantly subscribed. I can tell you're a true Voivodian. I've been a fan since I was 15. I'm almost 50 now and they are still my favorite band of all time.
i worried about that during the newstead years. not that it sucked. there's a lot of good tunes from that era. but i was starting to lose interest until Dan joined.
For a band that has been kicking ass for 40 years this deserves a 5/5

Voivod returns! This album will definitely be on my “currently cranking” list for some time.
I just got the album today, and I was blown away after one listen, just killer!
Amazing blast of sci-fi metal madness. Great album and great interview the other day too 👽🤘🏿
Thanks man, cheers! 🍻

This is up there with their best work. They nailed it.

I’ve always been lagging on immersing myself in their catalogue but I’m about to check out their two singles on YT..
Thanks Metal Meltdown!
Loving these first 3 singles. Looking forward to seeing them tour!

best album I've heard in years. Dan is the man. it is so good to see my favourite band kicking ass all these years later. amazing. Voïvod is the best.
🤘🤘👍👍 Awesome review dude
So fucking stoked to hear this album. Dan Mongrain is a very strong contender for best replacement ever. Genius
Daniel Mongrain is a fucking beast on guitar! I love Voivod. Stoked!!
Pow ...back real quick to say yup I've been waiting to see what they to next ...they delivered the assault to the ears brutal day to all 😋...carry on
I cannot wait for Friday lmao
Loved the Wake so much as well as like 90% of their discography, I feel it's gonna be something special yet again
Glad voivod is still kicking ass
Freakin' love this band! Can't wait until Saturday.💀

I had plans for one with a special guest, but a cram packed February got the best of us. Maybe another time...
Voivod only knows how to make bangers \m/
Facts
On first listen I declare this their best album for 35 years.
Sounds so damn good... got me even more hyped
Just got the mail: delivery is o its way!
Together with this other little ep by Napalm death 🥳🥳
You got a hell of a killer mail day comin' up then
@@themetalmeltdownofficial will be an awesome friday this week.. 🙂👍

What he said ^^^
If you're willing to wait till Friday, I'd also recomemd this album as a potential gateway into Voivod.
I liked the shirt you're wearing. Where did you get it?
At a festival in Philly a couple years back.

Definitely never.
