Thank you all for watching. The Apollo audio interface has been my creative life saver for 5 years now. I hope you all find this video helpful and you can check out the Universal Audio Apollo Solo here: ► amzn.to/2Q2xgHy
What good Archie! I just purchased the twin duo mkII, and I love it! I’m looking to upgrade my travel interface! Would the solo be good, or should I get another twin?
Thanks
That piano line still gives me the chills. It’s like When descending something as 🔥 isn’t hot enough.
Thank you for this. I was gonna get the Lewitt Connect 6.. but I am convinced that this is the way to go
Nice! Great choice for sure.
I just got this interface today and I must say this thing is an absolute beast !! Overwhelmingly excited have this in my studio, Thanks for the video brother !
Can't wait for this to come in, and use it with my Neumann Tlm 103. My Scarlett kinda holding back some of my mics potential I can tell. Great vid boss. 🔥🔥💪
How did it go
You are the man brother!! Thanks for always bringing such great and truthful content!!
lol i love how u went like you can power 48v like any audio interface does it .
Twin Apollo x I love it
Yes! I'm glad you are loving it. My Apollo Twin X is the best investment ever. Thanks for commenting.
This might be a really dumb question, but can you record two mics at once with the Apollo solo? Or do you need the twin for that? I'm looking to make quality podcasts.
10 months later I'm sure you already know the answer, but you can record two tracks at once.
Got mine today. Thank you 😊
Thanks awesome Naomi! 🙏🏾 I hope you enjoy 😊
How you liking it so far!?
We just ordered, it be here in a few days!
@@musicmediaproductions I love it it’s everything I wanted just make sure you get your thunderbolt 3 cable !☺️
I checked your review over the Sennheiser Mk4.... And well, here we are
Hahahaha, that's awesome. UA just sent me the updated Solo and I'm editing it right now. So be on the lookout for that video. Thanks for watching Kenneth!
@@archiebeatz solid.
This interface is now 699 and let me tell you how blessed us Individuals are that got it for 499. Even if you have the "unportable" windows version we are blessed. Very much
Hey Archie, great video. I'm in the market for a new interface as mine is starting to break down. I'm looking to buy the Apollo Solo but I know I won't be using the UAD plug-ins that much (I primarily use Waves and Native Instruments). Do you think this would be a good purchase or should I look at something else?
Currently having the same problem so I was wondering: Did you end up going with the Solo and if so, what do you think? Thanks :)
Came here for an update
Universal Audio did not learn from the Arrow that, A: There are people with Thunderbolt 2 Macs not yet wanting to change their computer but want a bus powered interface for their current Mac as well as their next one, and B: iPads have become serious music production tools with companies like Steinberg making their devices fully compatible with iPad OS. Why would you release a new product line in 2020 and once again ignore those potential customers ?
How much is a tb3 to tb2 converter? I have a 2015 macbook pro not looking to upgrade but interested in that solo
@@urbnctrl You will need a thunderbolt 3 powered hub/dock which i have mine for sale on ebay uk due to finally upgrading the computer. Usually the Startech ones are compatible with Arrow/Apollo One. You will also need Apple's TB3 to TB2 adapter which is about $40/£40
SHARC DSP is old tech and with new processors, you can record without latency too. Unless UAD makes new cheeps that can do more work nothing will justify that price.
interesting info....so the only reason to buy this appolo is to have access to UA plugins like guitar amps
nothing else compared to Audient cards yes ?
@@mesfigas Something like that. If you have really old pc it can help you almost without latency with plugins and that's all. Audient ID14, Scarlett 2i2, MOTU m2, there is a lot to chose now and almost all have good preamps some of them have better ad/da conversion. I just don't have so much money to start using UAD plugins and gear, when there are alternatives, like Plugin Alliance for plugins, For DSP this cheap AMD Ryzen processors are crazy good. I mean UAD just sees himself as an innovator but didn't invent anything new in 15 years. But that SHARC DSP which is very old still worth... Yeah, it is if you have 50 of them. They should get back on the ground and stop tripping Apple...
@@drfleka i have ryzen 5 1600 with 16 giga ram so i ll buy the apollo twin when i have money to enter ua plugins world if its worth
i m a guitar player playing with bias fx-amp so a apollo solo doesnt really worth since my pc is good
@@mesfigas UA plugins are really good if you have money for audio interface and plugins. The cheaper alternative is some cheaper audio interface with good preamps like Audien and Plugin Alliance plugins. But if you have money you can go for the UAD ecosystem. Or RME, Antelope etc.
@@drfleka i have audient id4 but was thinking to upgrade someday. I also play with biasfx2 so to ugrade to a better audient or jump ship and join UA apollo with their plugins was the second plan
I am very new to recording at all, in late 50’s, Looking for an interface , I had an older IMAC , what would the specs be because I here that there software. LUNA? Is free with a urchase of an Apollo? It comes with either thunderbolt or USB?
Hi Vincent. It’s great that you are getting into recording. As long as you are at 16GB of Ram and have the compatible OS with the DAW(Luna) and Interface you will be fine. Most interface these days gives you the system requirements for your Computer. Also, the Apollo Solo comes with Luna and these offer a thunderbolt 3 version and USB version of the Apollo. I hope this helps and good luck 🙌🏽
Archie Beatz awesome thank you.
Bless! Lead me down the right path
I’m trying to choose between the Apollo Twin Duo MKii and the Apollo Solo. I plan to only use one of the UA preamps and maybe one compressor only when I’m tracking vocals. Do you think it’s worth the extra $300 for the twin, or will I be good with the Solo? Also thank you for the great video!
If you don’t need bus powered mobile recording, i’d go with the Twin. I have a twin but want the Solo for mobile capture-just stuff everything in a backpack!
What's up Caleb? The solo will be fine but if you ever decide to use more UAD powered plug-ins (Which requires more DSP), you will have a processing block. The Twin Duo MKii will give you safe DSP room just in case if you ever want to use more plug-ins. I think the Twin MKii is worth the extra money but the solo is also a killer deal. I hope this helps and thank you.
Archie Beatz thanks for the advice!
@@archiebeatz u get auto tune with solo interface?
@@archiebeatz and wym processing block?
YESSIR!!! GOOD LOOKIN OUT AS ALWAYS!!!
No problem. I'm glad you found this video helpful.
Archie are you able to connect the Apollo solo to your satellite Apollo and the solo is recognized by the computer? I have a MacBook Air with thunderbolt 2. I wanted to purchase a Apollo satellite and connect the apollo solo to it in order to use it the record because I have a thunderbolt 2 connection and the solo isn’t backward compatible. Let me know if you read this comment.
Nice channel great content. What computer do use it. I got the Universal Audio Apollo twin x duo heritage thanks man!! Will it matter how many cores? Speed >2.8 GHz 1TB
Thank you. I have an iMac, i7.. Cores don't matter unless you have one, then it would be a terrible creative process everyday, lol.
I just got one of these and did a video on my channel - I agree, it's amazing!
Nice Video but can you do a Video on how you record your own vocals (while standing)🤔👌👌👌🔥
Thank you! Actually that video is dropping tomorrow of how I record myself. Make sure you subscribe and hit the notification bell so you can be alerted about it when it drops. You read my mind, lol.
@@archiebeatz wow awesome👌🤩
Can you make a video of your vocal plug in chain you use for mixing vocals ?
Tbh that apollo solo is still a budget option for me tho....I would check that interface
Awesome content bro
I just got the Twin!
Hey AB! Great Review. As always thanks for sharing.
Thanks Wallace.
Hi sir,
uad apollo twin x adapter does not have three pin plug, only two, All the wires whether mic, Headphones or monitors is connected to twin x all have electric
current, In our studio earthing cable is properly connected, But apollo has only two pins in its adapter, I'm getting electric shocks by apollo, please solve the problem, Thanks
Archie, Thank you for you content!
Wanted to ask you, if it possible that you can recreate 1 cool bit from a song and show how to do it?
I fking lost any ideas in creating that layers of bass and synths(
You are welcome and thank you for commenting. I'm in the process of recording videos to show my song making process in realtime. I will be posting those videos within the next few weeks.
Bought the Apollo x6 cuz it seemed to be the “in the middle” model of the series. Haven’t had time to test it inside out but I looks good so far.
I need two headphone outs and enough DSP power. Lots of reviewers complain about the low DSP power of the solo.. can you confirm that? Not sure how many UAD plugin you’re actually using..
here's the chart that stays updated every time a new plugin comes out, this is % used per chip (solo having one chip). this is optimized for and great for mobile work where you'll be cutting a vocal or an instrument at a time. def wouldn't wouldn't rely on it for mixing, but as a great addition to your already running UAD/Apollo system
help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/215262223-UAD-2-DSP-Chart
Hey Bro I need some help please. I‘ve bought today der USB-Version of the Apollo twin Solo, without cable. So i am a little bit confused, what type of a cable do I need now? In combination with a neumann 102 bk microphone.. a normal XLR cable to connect the mic with apollo or something other?
Are you talking about the USB cable or the XLR cable? For the audio interface connection which is usb you will need a Type-A to Type-C USB. Also, a standard xlr cable for the microphone can be connected at the back of the solo. I hope this helps.
Archie Beatz Thank you a lot! Maybe you can Tell me also something about the System requirements. I have a standart Laptop with Intel Core i3 , Win10, and 4 gb RAM. What do you think would I have a problem with the recording/mixing?of vocals? Thanks for your help!!
ok off to amazon, this man convinced me lol
Hi, great review. Just wondering … how many plugins can the cheapest Solo run at one time without it overloading. Could you put a number to it or maybe give some examples. Thanks!
Hard to put a number on it because different plugins use different amounts of CPU. I can tell you that for tracking vocals, I'm using a Mic preamp, a compressor, and the RealVerb reverb, and it's around 82%. But that's all I need for vocal tracking. The Solo won't replace your computer in terms of running plugins!
I've contacted Universal audio and they said the Twin X is better than the solo (best bang for your buck)
Overall, I completely agree. It's more processing and I/O real estate on the Twin X.. I recently purchased a Twin X Quad to cascade with my Apollo x8p and Apollo 8 Quad. Great investment. Are you playing on getting the Twin X or have you purchased it already? Thank you for dropping by as well.
@@archiebeatz i just got it
Hi Archie thank you so much for the review.I am looking for a smooth sounding audio interface i dont care if its analytical do you think that this is a smooth sweet sounding audio interface?
Hi Archie! Can you tell me if is possible to use a external preamp ( i have a focusrite) with my Apollo solo? It is worth? Thanks and your videos are amazing !!
Thanks for the review
Mk2 or Apollo solo? I’m going to buy a interfaz and I don’t know who it’s better!!!
Best preamps? Best conversor A/D? Best plugging???
good question
I trust you!! Thank you Archie!
Is the Apollo Solo powerful enough to drive my NDH20? My 2019 MacBook Pro audio output for the headphones are not able to drive them.
Based on the fact it's 150ohms in impedance, some engineers and creators need a headphone amp to boost it. It's about preference. I don't really need a headphones amp even at 250ohms because I listen to things low and at 85db with monitors. I hope this helps.
Archie Beatz i smoke with a few techs and they said it would be plenty to drive them.
Could you record guitar and vocals at the same time? Two mics etc.
in the under $500 range of audio interfaces you have to check out the Motu M4. It has best in class converters (the same ESS Sabre as in the high end Apogee stuff), has insanely low latency and has a LED display sort of like the Apollo Twin. For only around $250! Oh, and let's not forget that it has 4 Line outs, 2 Mic pre/combo jacks, 2 Line ins & is also still bus powered!
But it can't run plugins with zero latency for tracking, which is the biggest draw of the Solo
BRO CAN YOU connect that apollo solo with a compressor ?????
GREAT VIDEO !!!!!
why not just an Audit iD for all this at half the price? What is your take on the Audit software vs the software of the Volt 2 or the Apollo Solo you show here? Hope to hear your point of view... on a budget so need to ask what is most future proof for me to invest in now! thanks for a great demo😊
I had 2012 model MacBook Pro can I connect to my Mac.... Because one of the youtuber told it will not work for 2012 model
I love your studio bro
nice vids bro might get apollo soon
Hey man, great video. Is there enough inputs/outputs on the solo to add an outboard compressor/pre amp to the chain? If so could you briefly explain how that would work.
Hey Greg! Thank you so much. Well, you can connect the microphone to the preamp via XLR > to the Apollo Solo Input... 2nd configuration: Microphone to preamp via XLR > Out of the preamp > To Compressor > to Apollo Solo.. You can also switch the signal flow having the compressor before the preamp. I hope this helps.
@@archiebeatz Perfect, thanks!
does the Apollo solo have the same preamps and converters as the Apollo twin? Is the same quality ?
Other comments say yes
Just watched this. Very cool video. Just one question. How UAD Apollo Solo will work with high impendence headphones like Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro 250 Ohms?
Don’t know if I should get this or the Apollo twin x
So the usb version works with usb 3.2 right? Because I have the zephyrus g14 ryzen 5000 series and want this interface to work with my laptop
hi, im thinking to create home studio for rap musics. im gonna buy this AI, but im looking for a good mic for that AI. can you please suggest me the best mic around 800-850$ ? thanks
Can I use a TYPE C to TYPE A adapter? for this product or the USB version I should say.
Great video. How does it compare to the Apogee Duet 2 usb? Thanks.
Thank you. Well, the Apogee duet 2 usb doesn't have the UAD style DSP powered plug ins. I can tell you that UAD apollos sound great and last a long time. The Apogee duets are great too (Which I own the apollo duet firewire).. I'm just a UAD fan because they've solved a lot of my recording studio problems and the Apollo units are super dependable in most production situations. I hope this helps James.
Hey Archie, what you think about the Unison Neve Preamp is it worth buying one for recording rap and singing vocals ? and is it a upstep to the included 610B Preamp ?
I use the Neve 1073 unison for most rap vocals I record. It's actually a great preamp. It's a different sound from the 610B.. I prefer the neve sound tho. I hope this helps.
Thanks very much. Do you know if the A/D & D/A converters are the same for the SOLO as they are in the TWIN?
Ryan.
I own an Apollo 8 thundetbolt 2 and the satelite quad also thundetbolt 2 its posible to connect the Apollo solo with this gear un cascade, i use a Mac mini 2014 It doesn't have a thundetbolt 3 conection ! Thanks!
So would it matter if I got this or the duo I am just recording with one mic and only recording and mixing rap and r&b
Learning & Growing financially Together offcial The Twin duo will have more DSP power where you can use more UAD plugins. If you plan on using a combo of waves and other plugins, you will be fine with the solo. I hope this helps.
@@archiebeatz it really does I appreciate it I use waves and stock plugins but if that ever changed I can always upgrade
@@archiebeatz one more ? I have wave plugins and there is mono and stereo what one do I use for recording and what one for mixing if you can let me know please

@archie beatz I am wanting to get the apollo solo for my voiceovers. I have 80 ohms beyerdynamic headphones and I am having to max out my volume on the focusrite solo. Do you think if I get the apollo solo my current headphones will work fine or should i get 250 ohms? Your vids are great!
Hi Danielle. 80 ohms ( lowest impedance) can get louder than 250 ohms... With 250 ohms half of my colleagues use a headphone amplifier to reach a certain volume level. Also, 80 ohms project more and less highs while 250 ohms produce slightly less bass and more highs, treble which is ideal for mixing. Since you are a voice over artist, I will definitely go with 250 ohms not for loudness but for accuracy and possibly purchase a headphone amplifier to work in collaboration with your audio interface. I hope this helps Danielle.
@@archiebeatz oh thank you so much! Very helpful and thank you for getting back to me!
I love you videos i have a question does the apollo x6 and the apollo twin x have the same sound quality cause theres a sale ending today get a rack apollo get a free L22 mic , whats your thoughts on that much love brahh from San Francisco California
Difference between Apollo solo and Apollo arrow
The Solo is basically the rebranded Arrow. They had a problem with it only being Thunderbolt 3 for Mac & PC but PC computers rarely have a Thunderbolt 3 connection with the original Arrow. So with the new Solo they have a USB version.
Just bought one
Hi have a very important question for you .... I have a TI Virus Polar and a Mac book pro mid 2012 my Mac is running on latest operating system and virus Polar is not on the same operation system compare to Mac just because access Virus haven’t come out with a decent update sence 2018 .... question if I buy and Apollo I can make it run with pro tools on Mac ? Thank you for your videos
Hey wassup bro I wanted to know if this interface was compatible with Mac/ Logic Pro X.. thank you !
Is Apollo Solo the same as Arrow?
Its good with neumann tlm 102(or neumann tlm 102 with good preamp)plz help me im confuse?
I think that if you include a good mic preamp you don't need to spend so much on an audio interface. the preamp will give you a great sound. if you invest in something like the Warm Audio WA12 and you get an audio interface like the Focusrite 2i2 you will have a great sound and no need to spend a fortune on an interface.
How can I fix only heating left side I wanna record on stereo but I’m lost on how to do that
Archie I just purchased the Apollo solo thunderbolt version and my MacBook requires a certain adapter to hold a charge my ilok and my apollo what's the best adapter that I can come across?
Hey Archie, I currently record on a 10year old scarlet 2i2 usb-Interface and want to upgrade my setup to a more professional one - starting with a new interface whic should be reliable and serve me well for the next 6+ years of my production journey. As I now have the chance to buy a used (1y old) apollo solo from a local recording studio for 400€, i was wondering if you would recommend doing so or if I should rather go with a cheaper interface (e.g. Audient Id14; SSL2+ Or even AUDs Volt 276)? I heard that with only one chip, the solo might run into problems with the DSP plugins, but as I would most likely only use the free plugins one gets when buying the solo in the beginning, don’t own any analogue gear and mostly record vocals (rap/singing), I don’t know if this would even be a problem for me. Basically, would you recommend buying the solo - and is it a great interface for long term use or just a gimmick for professionals that wont be worth it for me as a semi-professional (personally I heard everything from totally overpriced and wont be able to deal with the plugins to a total game changer and recommended if one is serious about recording). I just really want a well manufactured, reliable interface and am kind of struggling to find some good information on this. Thank you in advance!
debating this or the Apollo twin. why the hate on this?
Is it much better than native instruments?
In my opinion the converters and sound quality overall, it is.
i need a good sound card for beatmaking
This would be great or a focusrite scarlett.
@@archiebeatz but I don't record any vocals or guitars I just play with samples. Is that Ok?
Excellent
I wish it was 500 where I live, here it's $900 for Solo! Still worth it?
What you think about the evo 4 interface
What's up Kenny? The Evo 4 is a pretty decent budget audio interface. I did a detailed review with audio tests. Here's the video and I hope it helps out. ua-cam.com/video/S942VfvB18Y/v-deo.html
Hey Archie this interface seems really interestimg but ...is it true it's made in plastic? if it's true, very dissapointing... :(
how is the quality of the convertors bwtween the twin mrkii and this solo? or the twin X?
Hey Refugio. Well the bit depth and A/D resolution are the same across all UAD Interfaces.. They don't really specify the difference in conversion (World-class conversion, elite class conversion and etc). I will say this, they all sound equally as great but there are subtle difference that 99% of people can't hear, lol. I hope this helps.
Would the single processing power of the solo
Be enough to EQ ( Compressor, Noise Gate, etc ) on my microphone
If that’s all I’m using it for please let me know ,
Yea should be fine just don’t record a band or use DSP’s in you’re DAW
Do I need a preamp if I cop an Apollo? I heard this interface has a built in pre amp
dang two XFs... that's interesting.
My Focusrite just died and I was looking to upgrade to this interface and I was wondering if there is a sound quality difference when sound is played back with headphones or speakers?
Lol same, the 2i2, were you as furious as me?
@@deengew my 2i2 had volume issues and it kept turning off by it's own and I also tried different cables to test it out
I have a Focusrite 18i20 would this be a upgrade?
hi broo!! a question, a michrophone shure sm7b need pre amp with this interface? thanks for your help and time, very good video
you can use it without any preamp, but if you want to capture soft vocal you better buy cloudlifter or souyz launcher)
Is this the best one for only vocals?
Or should I get the twin ?
If on a budget under $500, I would say go for it. But the twin x would be better for sure. More DSP and durability.
Archie Beatz I’m going to buy the Neumann 103 with the Apollo solo. Is this combination good for professional vocals?
With Antares autotune* but I don’t know if I should get the twin
is this intercaz compatible with imac from 2012 usb 3?
How do I connect my apollo solo tb3 to my mac tb2 port
I appreciate you
Hi. Does it support a loopback feature?
This would’ve been the perfect time to make the UA interface compatible with iPad Pro using USB C. Oh well.
I know right. Hopefully, that's coming. I'm noticing a huge surge in iPad music production and recording in the professional recording industry. Thanks for commenting.

The Apollo Solo is the Arrow's replacement. The major difference is that it works with PC now.
