    Great video Jetcast! My brother and I picked up a few out there yesterday. It was a beautiful day on the water too. Certainly the live baits were a hit with the Mahi. We did manage to hook up on an expired 'livie' trolled slowly. We nicknamed that bait 'Bernie'. 🤣 Til next episode.

      “Weekend at Bernie’s “ bit of a classic! I went out on a charter today and they were even thicker at the same FAD! 50 fish onboard in about an hour with 8 fishos and two crew! Great fun!

    Another great vid, for some reason I like the cut to Fred doing something amazing :) I cannot see where you have mounted your vhf, I see the antenna up the front but no transmitter box. Where is a good spot? Also, is a 2.4 m antenna too much? Should I stick with 1.8 m? Any answer is appreciated. Love the channel.

      Thanks John. I always have intended to make the channel more about the sport and less about me but it's been hard getting the other guys to shoot video, so its been mostly about me! When MD comes out with he shoots video so that has been good, and Fred's now on the right rack. The added video will add a little more interest to the overall flow of the videos. Re: Radio: I have a "black box" GME GX750 which has a small box for the main electronics, but all controls are in the handset. The handset is mounted inside the glovebox, and the main electronics under a panel in front of the glovebox but under the main body panels. The longer the aerial, the better the distance, but 1.8m should be sufficient. To tell you the truth, this radio has been a little unreliable over the past years. I've replaced the handset twice. When I upgrade to the next ski I'll be finding a spot where we can keep it completely dry, or if I have to, go to the more expensive Icom version. Just today I found the aerial lead completely disconnected from the radio due to corrosion. I'm off to the chandlery store tomorrow to try to get the parts so I can fix the connectors! I am considering mounting the entire black box and handset inside the glove box for the next ski as safety is my biggest concern for the offshore locations we go. Hope this all helps!

      @@Jetcast This helps massively and I appreciate the reply. I am going to ask if my installer will put mine in the storage compartment under the sea-doo steering wheel. It is near the fuel intake so I am not sure of spark danger. Let's see what he advises. Thanks.

      @@Jetcast Hi Paul, love your videos which is the reason I am starting to jet fishing. I'm going to install a garmin uhd 95sv to my 2022 fx. Not sure how to mount the transducer though. I know you went to transom mount on the current jetski. Would you mind to share your experience on the transom mounting? Will you go transom mounting again for your new jetski? Thanks Ming

      @Jetcast  Рік тому +1

      @@mingni6618 Hi Ming Ni, yes transom mount is the way to go, with only under the ride plate being better. But there are positive and negatives to all sites. For transom mount your sidescan will likely work better on the side it is mounted on, with the jet wash affecting the other side unless motor is off. I very rarely use sidescan so not a big issue to me. Other than that you just need to pay some attention when launching and retrieving that the transducer is not going to strike anything. For me on regular ramps it's also not really an issue , but if launching on beach where there is no concrete ramp you'll have to make sure the ski is deep enough so don't have it dig into the sand. I have had some friends get a mount for the bottom of the ride plate and it's the most ideal position for best readings when motor is running, however two of these guys ended up having the transducer ripped off by hitting a sandbank. Costly to fix and replace. So I still say the transom mounted transducer is probably the best compromise- unless you can install a through hull- which also means not having sidescan. I get really good soundings fishing generally up to 100m depth, and only lose bottom if in neutral and stationery due to the wash from the jet pump. At full speed I still get accurate depth readings. The Garmin 95 has been great and I often see fish others on PWCs near me can't. I will go to transom mount again on a new ski. Make sure you get one of our sounder covers (www.jetcast.au)( for the 95 as they have a removeable head unit and the quick release mounting cradle has a multipin connector that can fail if any saltwater gets in- which it will unless you cover your sounder! Hope this helps.

    I have to locate them up here in Mackay, they must have FADs up here.

    • @Jetcast
      @Jetcast  Рік тому

      Yes for sure. They like water to be in the range 24-30 degrees, so I guess Mackay would qualify for that most months. But you'd have to pull yourself away from the CTs and the Nannies! :)

    Which FAD did you go mate

    • @Jetcast
      @Jetcast  Рік тому +1

      Many different ones, but on this day it was FAD15. We went past 14 after bagging out and it was loaded up just as much. A friend fished some further north today and same story there too! I also go to the FADs off Noosa sometimes...
