When they changed it to Friday it truly was the end of an era. The top 40 is no longer relevant and that is so sad. IMO the last decent presenters were Reggie Yates with Fearn Cotton (although they were nowhere near as good as Mark or Bruno)
You are correct - the date of 9th August refers to when these recordings date from. Unfortunately I had been at work the previous Sunday so had only been able to hear the end of the show, and I wasn't expecting to hear the Pick of the Pops theme on the countdown! So I had to wait for the following week to make any recordings.

The outro was dropped from April 1999
Close, but it was *actually* 28th March 1999 when they dropped the outro for the Top 40 show, until Mark Goodier's final Top 40.
That Fatboy Slim theme actually debuted on 2nd August 1998, not the 9th.
