The Smiths perform "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others" for the only time live at the Brixton Academy, London 12th December 1986. This live version appeared as a b-side to the 1987 single "I Started Something I Couldn't Finish" and was wonderfully remastered from the best/earliest possible source to avoid modern mastering techniques which crush the dynamics.

The smiths are a British rock alt band from 1982-87 the front man Morrissey is known for carrying flowers, his melancholic and often sarcastic witty lyrics

Not rock at all, just guitar driven and this is a shitty live show, Morrissey is a dick though.

Morrissey is the singer, now solo after late 1980s. Johnny Marr is the lead guitarist you point out throughout. Morrissey is actually playing in San Diego on Saturday, Nov 10. Take a look at the live show from 2017 in Chile or the Holiday Bowl in Los Angeles, where he resides. "How soon is now" or "please please please, let me get what I want"(16 candles soundtrack) are great. "Speedway", Morrissey solo, is a great one for new comers...but really there are so many great songs.

@@portapotty69 Don't bother dude. Google the former Town in the 19th Century. And what it's now become, much like Liverpool, Birmingham and Chester. An empty shell of a former self. Lost Power, Wealth and Glory . There's a reason why individuals leave, just saying. Chester estimated 3 Thousand years established Trading Route for the North of England. Now a glorified Low rent housing Estate with exception for their tiny Roman remains of forced White Slavery they haven't yet been pulled down.

I just want to see that miserable place with my own eyes, to see if it's more or less dreary than Gary, Indiana. Let's go man. Johnny Marr sound is timeless. even out 1986. Their british from manchester. i think morrisey and marr had really big arguments, never ever a band will survive like that, it lasted 5-6 years.
if you look for these nice tunes look for: Johnny Marr

@Thoru Really. As l believe if you do indeed take the Time to re/read and consider the Lyrics. You'll hopefully find and imagine a lot more than the expressive form of the Female Physique duly mentioned. .As with every Track with Morrissey the Truth lays within no more than a simple Phrase and Word, the rest is all ENTERTAINMENT. ie 'Send me the Pillow'. Reference to Ancient conflict with Rome/Egypt. The on going struggle of ultimate Power and Control. EveryTrack admits something. 🤟🤌👌👈

This was at The Brixton Academy by the way. 1986 at their last venue on “The Queen Is Dead” tour. It also seems they dropped Craig Gannon at this point of the tour. Craig was another guitarist who briefly toured with them.

Brixton Academy - it's sort of a small "shed". Hardly an arena but much bigger than a theatre. (One of three London gigs they played in late '86, the other venues were the small Palladium and the much bigger Kilburn National).
It's true what they say - this song is an un-scary Frankensteinian monster. The guitar lines are so sweet but the lyrics are so silly - they don't belong together. So no-one is surprised to learn that song was very synthetically / surgically created, Stephen Street fooling around with the intro on the studio version underscores it.
Is this what always happens when Robk starts on a "new" band? So much inane yakking - I'm banging my head against the desk and saying "will he ever shut-the-horsebuggeringfuck-UP and LISTEN like a normal decent civilised human being?!!!"

Fantastic that you started your Smiths journey with a song from their final gig! A great concert, really showed how good they were just as a 4-piece. Johnny tries harder, I reckon, without a guitarist to back him up

Oh please play Infected by Teenage Head! And on to this. They chose the name to reflect that they were everyman, working class kids getting back to guitar music, in a landscape that was swamped by synth heavy music. I'm surprised you chose this one first, a minor song of theirs, but nice to hear it reacted to. Little chance of a reunion, unfortunately. Apparently they had a chat in a pub about it, but for whatever reason it fell apart. Doubt it will ever happen now.

Man I am digging you enjoying the smiths! But you must enjoy this song from the the original album release. I have been a smiths fan since 1980 in high school. Just a little footnote, on everyone of there old albums they have a fade out and fade in to a song. This live version is not as good as the original track on the album! I plead with you to listen to the original version !
