I do hope they added some form of cloth physics. The stiff clothes make the models look dated. Just adding cloth physics could be a huge upgrade
It's next gen only so there's no excuse of Origins level physics aren't back AND improved
Mirage had way better cloth physics compared to Valhalla, so there's a good chance we'll see even better cloth physics for Shadows
@sh1nred if I'm not wrong, that was done via secondary animation, as in, all of it was manually placed by the animators, which is why it always moves the same. I'm hoping for real time cloth physics that moves dynamically and automatically without manual animator input other than the "strength" of the effect.
AC1 Altaïr had good cloth physics and then they lost the ability to do it by the time Watch Dogs came out

They need to scrap the rpg engine in its entirety. I hate the UI and how clunky and flamboyant combat felt. Personally ac3, ac4 and rogue had the best fighting mechanics. It looked and felt so much better. Plus change the running animation. Every time the character would run from the last few entries it felt like they had to shit really bad and was rushing to a bathroom
I still love how there so proud of this being the “first female led” like there wasn’t 3 already and 2 of them being the canon choice

The only thing I'm scared of are the animations. I really hope they improved in that field, especially combat and facial animations.
They should, but ofc with CGI they are not focused on that yet (they improved the engine)

I need origin level cutscenes, and the character movement to feel impactful, not only in combat, but something as simple as walking.

You do realize Valhalla had social stealth?
During this time period, Catholicism had overtaken Japan. I am really hoping to see some more of the Templar/ Catholic influence that we saw during Ezio’s story. But this is about 100 years after that during the time of Pope Gregory XIII. We also need to see much of the Catholic and Protestant conflict as that was a huge issue during this time period as both groups made their way to the Japanese islands. Ubisoft usually handles history decently and this needs to be a pivotal portion of the story being told.
According to Wikipedia, Yasuke was serving an Italian missionary and came to Japan with him. So there definitely is huge possibility.

Basically, there are several Japanese leaders (warlords) who all converted to Catholicism, but were extremely corrupt and tyrannical (to an extent). During this time period, the Jesuit Order (founded by Ignatius of Loyola) had gained traction for some 30 years and it was the Jesuit Francis Xavier who brought Catholicism to Japan. I kind of hope the Jesuits and the Templar Order and one and the same in this game. The leader of the Jesuits was known as the Black Pope and it would be a great tie in if Ubisoft made this position to be the same as the Grandmaster of the Templar Order. During the setting of the game, the Black Pope would have been either Everard Mercurian or if the game takes place after 1580 then it would be Claudio Acquaviva.
In the end, I suppose we will find out.
I don't think there were protestants in Japan yet, I think William Addams and his crew were the first protestants to reach Japan and it was with his help that Tokugawa pushed Catholicism out of Japan.
They hadn't "overtaken" Japan.
They were an influence in Japan and were causing problems, but they were not as problematic as you're trying to make out.

Actually her hidden blade emulates a kusarigama. A farming short scythe that was quickly adopted by ninja as it was easy to conceal as a farming tool. Often chained together or chained with a small weight on one end. It’s a nasty surprise for people who aren’t really for it.
I'm so glad I can choose to play only as Naoe. I miss being a stealthy assassin in Assassin's Creed. I'll give Yasuke a go for NG+ or a New Game. I'm glad they don't force us to play as both or change characters midway. I hope there will be two different story lines, but please no more story choices. That just ruin the narrative.

iirc they said that there will be different stories between them, so imo the main or side quest from both will be different, like when u use naoe, u cant play yasuke quest and vice versa, but there might come time when u can use both for the same quest.

Kinda hate that you can't use certain Shinobi tools and use ninja stealth with Yasuke. I wanted to play as him but from the description of the gameplay, Naoe sounds like the character that best suits my playstyle. That was the beauty of Ghost of Tsushima and Rise of the Ronin, you were allowed to play the style you wanted no matter what.

@@__________..... nah, unfortunately they said both characters have their own skills set and weapons and play different from one another. And that Yasuke doesn't even have the grapplehook or the hidden blade. So from the looks of it he will be this tank like character that fights head on, and probably has slower parkour and climbing abilities. He will probably have more Samurai traditional outfits with armor, while Naoe will have cloth Shinobi/Ninja outfits and traditional assassin robes.
They used to let y play the style you wanted but they now want to change things up
So they’re pulling a ac syndicate? One male character and a female that you can play as either or in free roam but for specific mission you are forced to play with a certain one?
At least it looks like they play differently, we didn’t have that with the Fryes

I played a lot of "Samurai Warriors" many years ago to know a lot about Oda Nobunaga.
Back in the late 1980s my brother and I went to a games shop and each bought GameBoys, plus a handful of games, one of which was Nobunaga's Ambition. Still got it in my gaming museum collection.
Seeing the trailer for this game makes me wish I still had my PS2 so I could boot up SW2 again

Connor’s hidden blade is the exact same as this main characters hidden blade. It’s called a pivot blade, and was what Connor would duel wield with his tomahawk and swords.

It seems like (and I like it) Ubisoft is trying to go both paths now to please everyone (RPG and OG Assassin mode). It comes in a way that feels natural and I hope it will feel that way in game. I'd say I'm somewhat optimistic haha

I feel like having two characters that have such different play styles isn’t gonna work out well. If you only wanna play a stealth character then you are basically locked out if half the game unless you wanna force yourself to play the way you don’t wanna play. As much as I’ve disliked the previous AC games at least you could somewhat choose your own play style
Along with Katana, bow is another weapon integral to Sengoku Era. Nobles and villagers alike usually learned to use a bow from childhood.

He wasn't respected at all, hell, hie name means something along the lines of Black Merchant. He was kept in Japan as sorta a pet being black people were not common there

Not gonna lie I cannot wait for all of the moves that I saw in this trailer the one I didn't actually expect to be real was the fact that she jumped so damn high and double assassinated after pretty much alerting the camp if you can assassinate when alerted like you can in mirage like a small period of time that'll be very cool
We also have not seen the bird yet either or mounts so will be nice to see those as well.

This will probably go back to syndicate when we had the options to play both of the twins. Where Eve seemed to lean towards stealth while Jacob leaned towards brawler/gang leader.

Assassins were involved with Shinobi, some of them actually ended up becoming assassins. They were also involved with Nobunaga and Tokugawa. And according to leaks, which were proven to be mostly true, Hattori Hanzo is in the game. He was one of the first masters in Japanese brotherhood, maybe even the first one.
The brotherhood is Naoe and Yasuke's relationship all along

He isn't that cool, he served Nobunaga for a year, never participated in battle and then he just disappeared, William Addams was far more interesting.
@lucasbelmonte2832 for a foreigner to serve Oda Nobunaga as closely as he did I think this is kind of rare. To be able to rise from a slave to that, and a foreigner one at that, especially in the Japan of that era, was quite a feat/unique case. From an historical point of view, he is a pretty cool person. Adams on the other hand was a merchant. He mainly served the japanese trade interests, and was at sea a great deal of his lifetime. He was also pretty much more involved in religious animosities with the portuguese than Yasuke, which may make exploring Japan and its political affairs much more complex. I think the game story with Adams would take a turn to the religious terrain instead on focusing on the political scene, thus making him less viable for a game. Besides, more is known about Adams than is known about Yasuke, so the latter would give more narrative freedom. Moreover, I think Yasuke is more generally known, and would appeal more to a gaming audience. Bearing all that in mind, to me, a game about exploring Japan is way cooler with Yasuke than it would be with Adams
My issue with him is that, from what the devs said, he looks like he has no distinctive traits apart from some combat abilities and a couple of weapons. This being an RPG AC may translate into just better stats in combat. On the other hand, Naoe looks way cooler in my opinion (traversal, tools, Hidden Blade.....). I'll be mainly playing as her, but I hoped Yasuke would be quite different of the "only a handful of RPG ACs combat abilities and weapons" archetype

Why is there so much hate on the game while people didnt even play the game for 1 second. I will share you one of my lifehacks for free: stop reading/caring about what other people think of games. Play them openminded and decide for yourself whether you like it. This makes playing games a lot more enjoyable, trust me 😊

The fact that in this game will be changing seasons is something completly new to the rpg games it got me more hyped for this game 🔥
hoping a combat redo. as this is set in japan, having swift but minimal movements would be sick. something like ‘L1’ is a deflect button, and ‘circle’ is dodge. but the dodge shouldnt be the same as the roll like we have got in the past 3 games. have it so it has to be timed, so if perfect opens a counter instant kill, or if not just the dodge. have something similiar to the role, but more like sekiro, where you sort of dash. something like this would make the combat feel tight, whilst also giving the control of the recent rpgs.

But anyway we can all agree that the price tag is the main problem and if its a good game no one will care what skin colour or gender the main roles are.

I think they're gonna liberally use the fact that Yasuke had very few mentions in the documented history of Japan. Japanese people really seem to be negative about making him a samurai.

It would be interesting if they return but I was hoping a new secret Society that wears oni mask or fox mask even the tengoo whatever just at least a sinister looking group wearing scary looking mask like we saw in the previous assassin‘s Creed except for ac Valhalla they didn’t wear mask at all, except for it DLC but we’ll see when it comes out

I loved Ghost of Tsushima so I'm kinda excited about this. Stealthing around is my fav too. I wouldn't mind if this was like Syndicate where we could swap depending on missions, but I def favor stealth. I'll keep my eye on this for sure.

the question is... is Naoe an Assassin under the brotherhood or just a normal Assassin... i mean she does have a hidden blade, when i read the leaks way before this i thought that yasuke would be the one to make Naoe join the brotherhood and they would somehow try to make the reason why Yasuke went to Japan was all part of a grand plan to fish out templar activity XD

So far loving this. Im more in keen on playing Yasuke. He is like a 6 ft monster that i think would be a force in head to head combat.
