I saw PP&M in Long Beach in 1964 when they performed the entire 'In Concert' double album. When it was over I was so overcome I couldn't speak for an hour.
This song as sung by Peter, Paul and Mary has always INSPIRED me to want to change the world. Every time I hear it, I feel that anew. Gospel written by Reverend Gary Davis who sang it with passion but these guys sing it with righteous power like no other.
*sighs* Me and my nana listen to this song a lot, this song allways reminds me of her, and my mom, and how much I miss my mom... I love Peter Paul and Mary, they have such great music, ya know, music never gets old if its good. This is a great song that will *_never_* get old!
The temple of the idol worshipers, in the Biblical story. Here it's a metaphor, the building is injustice, greed other cruelties we inflict on each other.

Sing it! Perfection. Every little girl my age back then wanted to look and sound like Mary. That HAIR!!!!
Mary's hair looks like silk here.

I had her hair but no talent! Lol🎶

These guys are the lords of folk music by far!
I love the clear and distinct foot stomp-beat at the end. Power in those feet and emphasis!
P P & M...take me back to that innocence while shaping a generation to come...

Samson was sad about Gaza, his hometown

I've always wondered... what building would they tear down?
Peter Lund its a story from the bible. Samson and Delilah check it out. Blind Willie Johnson first recorded this inb1927

I always assumed it was the Tower of Babel, from the bible. It could be applied to any symbol of corruption: a casino, a church, an arms manufacturer?
Trump Tower
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Like candy for my ears
Yuh
I'll take the Grateful Dead's version on 'Without a Net'.
a different approach to Rev Gary Davis [and no-ones gonna play guitar like him] but pretty damn good!
Samson could of been a woman modern day reversal of fortune.
As good as Rev gary davis
Reverse it to a woman same problem
