There are radical Muslims who see our present epoch as being one of "war or oppression" towards islam, which justify in their eyes the perpetration of terrorist attacks. And given the violent verses I have read in the Quran, I know they have solid ground to justify these attacks.

A related term, of broader application, is “kitman,” which is defined as “mental reservation.” An example of “Taqiyya” would be the insistence of a Muslim apologist that “of course” there is freedom of conscience in Islam, and then quoting that Qur’anic verse - “There shall be no compulsion in religion.” {2:256} But the impression given will be false, for there has been no mention of the Muslim doctrine of abrogation, or naskh, whereby such an early verse as that about “no compulsion in religion” has been cancelled out by later, far more intolerant and malevolent verses. In any case, history shows that within Islam there is, and always has been, “compulsion in religion” for Muslims, and for non-Muslims.”Kitman” is close to “taqiyya,” but rather than outright dissimulation, it consists in telling only a part of the truth, with “mental reservation” justifying the omission of the rest. One example may suffice. When a Muslim maintains that “jihad” really means “a spiritual struggle,” and fails to add that this definition is a recent one in Islam (little more than a century old), he misleads by holding back, and is practicing “kitman.”

I enjoyed the 4 minutes in the defining what of Taquiyyah is so that at the 4:18 mark he turns around and says there is not such thing in Islam.
I did some research because there's no way you give me 4 mins of definition, turn around and say there's no such thing in Islam. So for the sake of some Muslims who seek the truth, here is my quick research.
The concept of taqiyyah originated in the early years of Islam during a time of persecution when Muslims in Mecca were facing severe persecution from the ruling tribes of Mecca who opposed the message of Islam. At that time, many Muslims were forced to hide their faith and conceal their beliefs in order to protect themselves from harm.
The origins of the term "taqiyyah" can be traced to the Arabic root word "waqa" which means to protect or to shield. The concept of taqiyyah developed as a means of protecting oneself from harm in situations where revealing one's faith could lead to persecution, violence, or death.
Over time, the concept of taqiyyah was elaborated and developed further by Shia Muslim scholars, who added specific rules and guidelines for its application. Taqiyyah became an important part of Shia theology and was seen as a means of protecting the lives and beliefs of Shia Muslims who faced persecution from Sunni rulers and governments.
Today, the concept of taqiyyah is primarily associated with Shia Islam, although some Sunni scholars also acknowledge its legitimacy in certain circumstances. While the concept of taqiyyah is still debated and controversial in some circles, it is generally accepted as a valid means of self-defense and protection in situations where Muslims face persecution or danger.
The term "Taqiyyah" is not specifically mentioned in the Quran. However, some Quranic verses and Islamic traditions (hadith) support the concept of Taqiyyah or its equivalent, particularly in situations where Muslims face persecution or danger.
For example, the Quran says in Chapter 3, verse 28: "Let not believers take disbelievers as allies rather than believers. And whoever [of you] does that has nothing with Allah, except when taking precaution against them in prudence." This verse is interpreted by some scholars as allowing Muslims to conceal their faith in situations where they face persecution or harm.
Similarly, there are a number of hadiths that support the concept of Taqiyyah. For example, one famous hadith narrated by Imam Bukhari states: "He who accepts Allah as his Lord, Islam as his religion, and Muhammad as his Prophet, should say what is true or keep silent." This hadith implies that Muslims should always speak the truth, but also suggests that there may be situations where it is better to remain silent than to speak the truth and face harm.
Overall, while the term Taqiyyah is not explicitly mentioned in the Quran, the concept of self-defense, protection of life, and prudence in dangerous situations is supported by the Quran and Islamic traditions.

And as you can see intentional, well thought-out lying is even being used to keep you Muslim. It makes is hard to trust a dawah. If the Quran was so great, why do Dawah's resort to lying, just to protect the religion, and from you leaving it. This Means that many Muslims don't know the truth and some are full of much fabrications. The fight is a fail if one is fighting to protect lies. Just keep aware, and make sure to do your own research, and if you even ask yourself why, just look it up instead of asking someone. If that's to hard, then ask someone who you can trust to give you the truth. If you walk around protecting fabrications, that makes you no better than the next con, not to mention you will look brainwashed and maybe even dumb. And the Prophet ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم).) said: ‘Deeds are according to one's intentions’.5 Sahih al-Bukhari, Egypt ed., vol. 9, pp. 24-25.
2.) Ibn Sa’d in his book, "al-Tabaqat al-Kubra,” narrates on the authority of Ibn Sirin that:
The Prophet (S) saw `Ammar Ibn Yasir (رضي الله عنه) crying, so he (S) wiped off his (رضي الله عنه) tears, and said: "The nonbelievers arrested you and immersed you in water until you said such and such (i.e., bad-mouthing the Prophet (S) and praising the pagan gods to escape persecution); if they come back, then say it again."
3.) It has been narrated by Abd al-Razak, Ibn Sa’d, Ibn Jarir, Ibn Abi Hatim, Ibn Mardawayh, al-Bayhaqi in his book "al- Dala-il,”and it was corrected by al-Hakim in his book "al- Mustadrak”that:
"The nonbelievers arrested `Ammar Ibn Yasir (رضي الله عنه) and (tortured him until) he (رضي الله عنه) uttered foul words about the Prophet (S), and praised their gods (idols); and when they released him (رضي الله عنه), he (رضي الله عنه) went straight to the Prophet (S). The Prophet (S) said: "Is there something on your mind?”`Ammar Ibn Yasir (رضي الله عنه) said: "Bad (news)! They would not release me until I defamed you (S) and praised their gods!” The Prophet (S) said: "How do you find your heart to be?”`Ammar (رضي الله عنه) answered: "Comfortable with faith.”So the Prophet (S) said: "Then if they come back for you, then do the same thing all over again.” Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) at that moment revealed the verse: "....except under compulsion, his heart remaining firm in faith...(16:106)"
Note: The full verse that was quoted partially as part of the tradition above, is:
"Any one who, after accepting Faith in Allah, utters unbelief, EXCEPT UNDER COMPULSION, his heart remaining firm in faith -- but such as open their breast to unbelief, -- on them is Wrath from Allah, and theirs will be a dreadful Chastisement (16:106).”

For me, the Koran is crystal clear about it: you are allowed to lie to your enemies. Fair enough, if this originated from a time of persecution. But further the Koran defines enemies as anyone who resists joining this Ideology. So the world is in two hemispheres: the conquered hearts and minds (the Muslims) and the "Land of war" (all other believers/non-believers). Also there is the sword verse which is totally clear about brutality against Non-Muslims, the arrogantly titled "men without knowledge", who of course should be treated mildly if they want to convert. Islam wants to wage the holy war until everybody on planet earth is converted or dead. Until this, lying, deception and brutality are totally legitimate tools for this cause. What else, when so many verses praise the deception skills of Allah himself, the "best of intriguer", 3.54 and many more verses. Sounds more like Satan in the Bible to me.
I think the terror organizations just took the Koran seriously.
That's the "Religion of love and peace" for you.
    Islam needs a reformation, urgently!

We dont See other believing people as enemies. And I do not understand it from the quran as well.
Enemy can someone be called, who actively attacks islam. And tries to harm the believers. No exception if he is atheist or whatever.
You can not just kill someone when he does not believe. And the " sword verses" are so called, because they are cherry picked. Look at the context and history.
It was in a time, where the prophet muhammad pbuh and the muslims were in war. Allah commanded the muslims to attack the enemies in war, after the safe month are over. And they did.
It was a command at that moment. Not a universal one.
Do not forget, that the quran is a Dialoge between the readers and Allah. And also between the prophet muhammad pbuh and between Allah. So its clear that there are commands for specific moments.
And also, the verse you quote is also out of context😂

These are the parts that say that you can lie in the Quran:
Quran (16:106) - Establishes that there are circumstances that can "compel" a Muslim to tell a lie.
Quran (3:28) - This verse instructs believers not to take those outside the faith as friends, unless it is to "guard themselves" against danger, meaning that there are times when a Muslim may appear friendly to non-Muslims, even though they should not feel friendly.
Quran (9:3) - "...Allah and His Messenger are free from liability to the idolaters..." The dissolution of oaths is with pagans who remained at Mecca following its capture. They did nothing wrong, but were evicted anyway. (The next verse refers only to those who have a personal agreement with Muhammad as individuals - see Ibn Kathir vol 4, p 49)
Quran (66:2) - "Allah has already ordained for you the dissolution of your oaths..." For today's reader, the circumstances for betraying your word are not specified, leaving this verse open to interpretation. According to Yusuf Ali in his commentary: "if your vows prevent you from doing good, or acting rightly, or making peace between persons, you should expiate the vow." (Presumably, whatever advances the cause of Islam would qualify as 'doing good').
Quran (40:28) - A man is introduced as a believer, but one who had to "hide his faith" among those who are not believers.
Quran (2:225) - "Allah will not call you to account for thoughtlessness in your oaths, but for the intention in your hearts" (see also 5:89)
Quran (3:54) - "And they (the disbelievers) schemed, and Allah schemed (against them): and Allah is the best of schemers." The Arabic word used here for scheme (or plot) is makara, which means 'cunning,' 'guile' and 'deceit'. If Allah is supremely deceitful toward unbelievers, then there is little basis for denying that Muslims are allowed to do the same. (See also 8:30 and 10:21)

    JOHN 8:44
You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies
MY Heavenly father, GOD Almighty Yahweh is the father of TRUTH and therefore WE shall NOT lie!.
