The world deserves vendor neutral instrumentation. At Honeycomb we believe in a future where instrumentation is table stakes. You shouldn’t have to worry about whether or not your particular language or framework is supported and you should never have to re-instrument your code from one format to another. OpenTelemetry is a collection of tools, APIs, and SDKs that can be used to instrument, generate, collect and export telemetry data for analysis in order to understand your software’s performance and behavior.
In this session, Paul gives an overview of how Honeycomb has embraced OpenTelemetry as a key part of our instrumentation strategy, how this can help make instrumenting your code easier, and what you can expect from Honeycomb and OpenTelemetry in the near future.
