Jeasus... Mariner is a hammer looking for a nail when she gets drunk...
She's spent so long fighting against un-happiness and defining her freedom in complete opposition to responsibility that once she has both, she's unsure of how to process her life or how to proceed with it.
Yeah, you can tell that Quimp is legitimately worried about how much Mariner is drinking.
Damn, Zek's and Rom's reforms really took off. Even the biker gang has a clothed females. Brunt must be freaking out.
I appreciate how Mariner fights with full fists instead of doing palm strikes like I see all Federation officers do in hand to hand combat
The thing that gets me about a ferengi female biker ganger is that ferengi women are implied to perhaps be even more cutthroat when it comes to earning profit then men, and it's only been a few years since ferengi females have been allowed to start going out in public and earn latinum. Which means that "ferengi biker ganger" is actually a fairly lucrative and well paying job! XD
I wonder what ferengi biker gangers actually do? Do you think they're more like teamsters or more like hired muscle?
Since Ferengi are at a similar tech level to humans, they likely have no need for ground transportation anymore. Hate to say it, but this is probably just a bunch of financial managers who cosplay as bikers over the weekends for fun.
They're probably city delivery service or something. Bikes have an easier time navigating traffic.
Yeah, I kinda looked at it like a "not teaching women to Water Bend in their largest nation" in Avatar situation.
Excluding the women was less an act of sexism, _and more an act of self preservation!_
All the Ferengi seemed cool about Mariner wearing clothes. Ferengi society sure has changed a lot since Rom became the Grand Nagus...
I don't think they would ever be able to enforce the 'females don't wear clothes' rule on other cultures, so she probably gets a grudging pass. Honestly it's Lita that should be the surprising exception to that rule as she's married into the ruling house.
But that said, a lot of the reforms like females wearing clothes and earning profit were started by Zek and Ishka, and simply continued by Rom/Lita. And there was a grudging acceptance that spread quick cause no one wants to mess with the Nagus, even if he's possibly an idiot, because of the devestating repercussions to their life that could result.
Rom, despite being somewhat benevolent, is still a dictator with pretty much absolute control and the powers to wield serious consequence on any challenger.
Funny enough, if you look in the background of this episode, you do still spot the occasional nude ferengi. So I assume it's just clothing optional.
Ferengi females were permitted to wear clothing in the last years of Zek's rule, Rom just kept it going.
Ferengi have been missing the untapped market of female clothing. And their ability to spend, spend, spend.
Want to see a spin-off about Ferengi bikers` adventures. Something like BIKER MICE FROM MARS😄
Hadn't seen this guy back In Season 1 and glad him amd Mariner still have a bond friendship nowadays Instead of a temperatly one deal.
Mariner is like a warrior princess. She takes on everyone. Slowly it becomes clear why she is a great crew member. Even Worf would be impressed by her. 🖖
You miss the point: Mariner has a self-destructive behavior, and is sabotaging herself out of the promotion, as she did many times before.
The episode is about Becket acknowledging her issues and hopefully seek help. Maybe we get to finally discover what happened to her during the Dominion War.
@@raistlin3462 That's right. She's unconventional, but that's what has saved the Cerritos many times. Her manner is not in line with the Starfleet's gait, but what is it? She is brave and has experienced a lot. What Starfleet officer didn't fight when he or she felt like it?
I don't think it makes you a self-destructive personality. She's just undisciplined and has a mind of her own. Like a certain captain we all know well. Maybe she just needs some time to come to terms with her feelings and thoughts. Until then, everyone should consider a safety parameter. ✌
@@CSLucasEpic Okay, but he decapitated a Ferengi in the Picard series. That was a bit worse than beating up a few bikers. Or am I seeing this wrong?😏
Mariner had just arrive on Ferenginar and what did she do when she got there by getting drunk and start a fight with the Ferengi.
Her friend just sounds so sad and disappointed and worried about her.
Ferengi ladies look cute in this style.
Sheesh. Mariner can talk and talk, but she also has guramba to match. 😛
It's 10 AM? Ugh! Make it 3 shots! 😂😂😂😂😂
Hmm, is that Simon Petrikov as a Ferengi?
1:07 Public library!
leave it up to lower decks to create a Ferengi Biker gang without showing the bikes.
Honestly, it'd sound like a Lower Decks gag to have them riding said bikes even in the casinos.
Perhaps it means something different on Ferenginar? Perhaps a " By kerga Ng" is the ferengi word for "Gentlemen-tea-and-conversation-meeting"?
I love how the animated ferengi can move their eyebrows! 🤨
Wait Cardassians have other drinks besides Kanar?!(sp?)
My headcanon is that after the Dominion War decimated Cardassia Prime, whatever plants/substance that make up Kanar were also decimated. So someone came up with the idea to bring agave plants to the Cardassia Prime and they took to the planet's soil and atomposhere quite well. And thus Cardassian tequila was born.
@@hfar_in_the_sky IIRC Cardassia was supposed to be a fairly dry, almost arid planet, so agave and cacti like plants would probably do well there. So Cardassian Tequila is probably a top notch drink! Just don't forget the Telerite salt and Risian limes!
1:52 Poor Quimp.
They need to explain at some point why Mariner is so chronically self-loathing
I'm hoping we're building towards some sort of reveal here. But we'll see.
Probably because she's been denied freedom all her life and her understanding of the world is that authority is always working against her. She learned to thrive on the chaos and misery and doesn't know how to function without it now that she's been granted autonomy and support
@@DETHREAPER11 But she *had* nigh-complete freedom when she left Starfleet last season. If that's her goal, why did she go back? And why didn't she just leave Starfleet a long time ago?
@@Brasswatchman because she does feel like she belongs in Starfleet and can do more good with them than being a space adventurer, she cares most about doing the right thing and helping people. She figured out how to do that really well as an ensign under authority she deemed hostile
I'd say "The Inner Fight" did a good job of that. Plus there's probably some Dominion War trauma in there too.
Mariner: Agent of Chaos! XD
Sometimes in the background of this episode you see some Ferengi females still do the no clothes thing.
Oh wow, I didn't notice until you mentioned that. Nice catch. That's some attention to detail.
Man mariner is a heavy drinkers
It probably doesn't help that Mariner is experiencing a late quarter life/early midlife crisis, where all her friends are becoming responsible adults and Mariner is having to face up to the fact that her wild and adventurous days are quickly falling behind her
I didn't know Ferengis came in that size
Is nobody going to mention that she CRASHED an Oberth-class starship? and somehow ONLY got demoted? I've got several questions now.
Yeah, that was my first reaction too. I mean, we already knew she'd been a higher rank and got demoted. . .but she crashed an Oberth-class starship? For her to have not wound up in a stockade or discharged from Starfleet there had to be more to the story, but at least we now know why she was an Ensign when most of her classmates were senior officers by now.
Q"WIMP"!!!!!???😂😂😂
Fun to watch especially after watching Fiona and Cake
Just ... was just sad to watch.
Nika: Mariner is started to Fight for Ferengi Biker Gang as well and has become the most successful.
Manor, please don’t start another interstellar incident, well drunk on glowing, alien liquor, again.
Mariner is a self destructive person. She always pushes people away.
SPONGEBOB
Damn this girl is boss! 😂
I like Lower Decks, but I feel that the voice actor for Mariner really needs to improve. It's just the same shouty tone in every scene for four seasons.
You mean Black women can talk quietly like Janet Jackson ? I thought that was just a act !
Can we appreciate how this man is the most polite and considerate person you could ever hope to spill a drink on? Not even by Biker gang standards, just by "people in bars" standards!
To be fair, they are in a public library.
