Today I'm sharing with you 20 things I've decided to stop buying. These are things I don't need in my life anymore, after becoming more intentional with what I bring into my home, how I spend my money. After decluttering our home towards a more minimalist lifestyle, I want to make sure I'm not making a lot of random impulse buys that would get me back to a cluttered state.

🫶 ABOUT ME
Hi! I'm Madeline, mum of 2 little ones, after dealing with miscarriage and infertility for years. I love making videos about motherhood, minimalism, decluttering, cleaning motivation, speed clean with me, homemaking, Ikea favourites, and everything in between.
I strive to upload new videos every week. Hope you stick around and subscribe!

Some of the links above are affiliate links, which means I get a small commission if you purchase anything through them (without adding any extra cost on your part). Occasionally I get sent products for review purposes and those will be marked accordingly. I will always give you my honest opinion. I only work with brands that I love and use myself.
It has taken me awhile to make the transition from buying cheap sales to buying quality products. It feels really good to buy one well made item rather than 5 cheap items that will not last well or function well. Thanks for another great video
I feel the same way. Thank you for watching, Susan 💛
I use white vinegar as fabric softener! Your clothes will be so smooth plus it protect your machine from limestone!
Cool that you’ve found something that works 🫶
I've started making my own laundry detergent from UA-cam videos. It makes 10 gallons of detergent from about $3 of materials. As a bonus, clothes come out soft and I don't need fabric softener.
Please tell me how.
@@soniaansari8161 There are lots of UA-cam directions. I used a grated 14 oz bar of Zote soap and 1 Cup borax powder mixed into a 5 gallon bucket of hot water. Stir, let set overnight and stir again. Fill jugs for detergent 1\2 solution and half water. Use about 1\2 C per load of laundry.
I buy water filter for my personal water tumbler.
That’s so interesting, thanks for sharing 💛
That dress looks so pretty on you! 😍 It compliments your skin so well!
I love that you mentioned waiting until you have used up make up products, I do this too. It is amazing how long products last, I don't buy sale items either.
Thank you for watching, Sarah!
I do use water filters as tap water in our area tastes horrible. But I do not buy any cleaning products except laundry powder, dishwasher tablets and washing liquid. For cleaning I use raypath glove.
Thank you for watching, Anna 💛
Yes, we need to talk more about stopping buying too much. Otherwise minimalism is impossible to maintain. And I mentioned about sale items in the last video that I watched from you. But yes, I don't go shopping just to see whats on sale anymore.
Completely agree 💛
Never clicked on a video so quickly. You have helped me so much. Hope your all well xxxx
Yay, thank you for being here 🤗
I do nearly all of these things without thinking, I do still buy fabric softener and souvenirs though. I just get overwhelmed with stuff. I want to keep decluttering.
Thank you for watching! Yees, decluttering will help so much
Lovely video..I also stopped buying books from bookstores.they are expensive 😢 rather I buy them from our local spca charity shop and then after I read them I donate it back to them.
Oh I love that 🫶
What are the names of the two nail polishes you use? Do you use base and top coats?
I believe it's Essie Ballet Slippers and Essie Blanc. No base/top coat at the moment 💛
Thanks for sharing!! What is the model of your piano? I like that the top slides into it and doesn't fold up!
Hi Constance! It’s a Yamaha 145 💛
If you live in the good ole US of A where they feed us recycled toilet water…filters are a must.
Oh no. Thank you for watching!
Yes! The dress! Link please. It’s so lovely.
Sure, here it is: numph.com/products/nuslish-dress-pink-lemonade?variant=49468199403849
Can you share where that beautiful dress came from? So lovely!
Sure, Kerry. It’s this Pink Lemonade one: numph.com/products/nuslish-dress-pink-lemonade?variant=49468199403849
And the video is so helpful. Thank you, Madeline.
Yay, thank you for watching, Zoe!
Clothes 100%, I stopped buying especially on sale. Unless it’s an item I absolutely love and it so happens to be on sale, that’s a bonus. x
That’s awesome!
I love your spice racks and bottles - this is something i would like to achieve but have no idea where to find them
I linked them here: liketk.it/4rNpw 💛
@@madelinehegedus thank you
Water filter, random spices, plastic water bottle, cleaning products, uncomfortable shoes, clothes that I don’t necessarily loved but are cheap, I don’t shop for sales, fabric softeners,
Thank you for watching! 💛
Do you have like any shopping stores that maybe sell spices and Seasonings in bulk that you can just put a tiny little bit in the bag and that's all you need if you do want to experiment with food
Oh that’s a good idea, not sure if we have any around, I’ll have a look. Thank you for watching, Lori!
Lovely video, I am not sure if I can stop buying water filters though 😅. Also, Can you tell us your nail colour name brand?
I use Essie nail polish at the moment, Ballet Slippers I think is this one 💛
Essie is the best..I've been using it for years now.
You look in amazing shape by the way! Is that thanks to the little one or any fitness routine? As for the video great stuff, i just keep bleach, washing up liquid and sodium bicarbonate for cleaning. Though I still seem to need to declutter every week! It feels amazing after though.
Thank you! For me it was all about balanced eating. I do run here and there, but no real routine at the moment. 💛 Thank you for sharing what works for you when it comes to cleaning.
Do you find the Purdy and Fig bathroom cleaner works well on limescale? We live in quite a hard water area so need something that tackles it well!
Yes, it works great for us 💛
Getting rid of water filter is a big big mistake. They add so many chemicals in to the tap water and hormones as well. But Im not going to get into the extra theories here. Do better research. Cleaning a filter takes two minutes. Its not a big deal. No offence to you! I like your videos.
Where is your colorful dress from?? ❤
It’s Numph 💛
This was a great video. I really enjoyed watching it and loved some of your ideas. Thank you x
Thank you for watching!
