Over the years I have owned several copies of the original and reprise of this album on several different mediums including LP, Reel to Reel Tape, Cassette, CD, and I believe even 8 Track at one time. (I used to own a machine that transferred R to R on to 8 Tracks for portability)
Of all the recordings, in all the genres, I have owned this is my most favored by a mile!
Thank-you, now I don't have to even bother to put the CD in my computer!

After Mantovani's death, his orchestra started recording alone the maestro's greatest hits. This was a most unfortunate event since this new renditions were actually poor and fully lacked the unique charm of Mantovani, but many post-Mantovani people came to "know" his music from this recordings and think they know him. Only those uf us who grew with his original 33-rpm acetate recordings know how magnificent he was and can immediately spot this, sorry, false renditions of his music, which is very difficult to find in digital as London records (then Decca) released for conversion very few of the original masters. Then many digital recording have to be taken from the 33-rpm acetates, which are now 50 years old and no matter how much you protect them, they always have some clicks and hiss that diminish the overall quality of the result. Too bad, I wish people could actually know the real "Mantovani and his Orchestra", as the record must show, and not "Mantovani's Orchestra" as are labeled such post-Mantovani's recordings.
I must agree with you to the letter, sadly, although I appreciate the spirit and enthusiasm of the New Mantovani Orchestra. Annunzio Mantovani was one and only, who singlehandedly explored the ultimate possibility of orchestra music. A genius who lived in the right place at the right time (London in the 50's and 60's with so many superb performers and record engineers).
You are right. Given adequate equipment, vinyl records were definitely superior to CD, thanks to the wider audible range of frequencies.

took me quite a while to spot the difference between Mantovani and The Mantovani Orchestra. The penny dropped when i saw an album of film music that included the Superman theme! 🥴
