Great video!! I am a life long friend of Bryan Burkhardt. I see you have an episode with him on a moose hunt!! Good for you!! Bry is a wealth of knowledge in the traditional bow hunting world!!
I'm a little late to the party here, just found your channel the other day. Love your attention to detail. I've never taken my arrow building to this level so I've learned a lot from your videos. Thanks for sharing your skills and information.
This video sounds and smells just like my shop! Notice I didn't say looks, because your shop is way more organized and cleaner than mine tends to be. Great info on burning, especially the feather jigs! Ill be adding that tip to my Fletching arsenal! Thanks
Dang I just commented about burning the feather shape in your other video and then this came up. So they still make a burner after 60 year. Think my cousins was home made. One comment "pew" the smell.
Thanks Joe. I really appreciate the feedback. Making arrows is a true passion of mine. A raw shaft is my canvas for art and functionality. They will shoot as good as they look.
Instead of glue - I use glass bond. It’s made for holding beads on glass. It covers that sharp point on the feather and protects the fletch if the arrow goes under the grass. You can get it at any crafts store.
Just following up on my last comment , Andy..I'm making an Elven shaped feather .with three points from one curve to the next .Is it possible to form at the apex to a point and not a radius .I'll find out eventually..Thank you .How about a video on cresting. Most importantanly how you manipulate your brush once you withdraw the paint from the bottle.I'm thinking that you lay the brush on a piece of paper and draw it back until the brush is flat.
It is possible but I think it will be noisy for hunting. If you making them for targets, they may sound really cool. I do have a cresting video in my wood arrow class. You are correct, when I’m going for a really fine line I smash the brush into a “blade” shape.
How do you make sure you have adequate surface area to get the stability you need? Are these two correlated or do you just need a little something at 12/4/8 to provide stability when the arrow is in flight?
@@VoteDent if your arrow is the right spine you can shoot smaller feathers. I can get good flight with no feathers when tuned correctly and shooting field points. After that you need just enough feather to stabilize a Broadhead.
This video is 6 yrs. old.. these arrows are on a level all their own. Flippn amazing!!!

Thank you I’ve had a young for about four years and have never used it thanks again for showing the forming also
Do you still have the young feather burner?

I always wondered how those worked, thanks!
A good idea is to mark the shafts
to orient your point with the grain of shaft!
Very well presented , Andy . It takes a long time to achieve a measure of artistry like yours . Keep up the good work !!!
Robert Peck thank you.

Nice arrow
I love your feather templates, how did you make them?
Hi Garrett, I made them using my scroll saw out of some scrap wood we had around the shop.
Thanks, how do you combine the different color feathers?.
I splice different color feathers together by carefully cutting them and matching up the quills.
You need to talk about glue. Which is important !
nice
love your work can you make me a set of arrows and feathers I shoot a 40# recurve and i'm a 26 inch draw
mike sipes no problem. Contact me through the website. I have a few more questions for you so I can set you up with the right spine.
ok Andy I'm here your asking me about spine for the arrows I'm asking you too make for me
I'm surprised you never ever tie down a string wrap on a sharp edge on front end.
jenis kawat apa yang di gunakan?
