- The advertising slogan for Schaefer beer is the jingle "Schaefer is the one beer to have when you're having more than one." An earlier advertising campaign from the 1950s asserted, "What do you hear in the best of circles? Schaefer, all around!" In Spanish, Schaefer's slogan was "Es la mejor, cuando se toma mas de una!" ("It is the best, when you are having more than one!")
Schaefer had major exhibitions at both of New York City's World's Fairs, held in Flushing Meadows Park. During both the 1939 New York World's Fair and the 1964 New York World's Fair, Schaefer sponsored "Schaefer Center", a restaurant that used beer as an ingredient in many dishes.
In the mid-1970s, Schaefer Beer was one of the top selling beers in the U.S., ranking as high as fifth in both the 1950 and 1970 rankings. Though it was producing more than twice as much beer in 1980, the gap between it and the top national brands was dramatically widening. In 1981, the Schaefer family sold the company to the Stroh Brewery Company.

*Of interest:*
*The History Channel began a new series called The Toys that Built America. The first episode was yesterday. You can watch it online also.*
*The young man who got Parker Brothers on the map was only 15 years old at the time!*
*The consumer end just sees the commercials, but it's totally fascinating how these toy companies got started and the competition between them.*
Your channel has the best, nostalgic commercials on UA-cam. Always the best quality-Thank you!!
This Schaefer Drinker loves these commercials
Love your channel. So much fun
The Best!!!!!
Cute and creative commercials. Madison Ave. can't match the old commercials. All that Madison Ave. can come up with these days are frantic dancing idiots.
I don't think Schaefer is in business anymore though. I don't recall seeing a can in the stores anywhere. I don't drink beers anymore myself, so I don't really know.
It's still around, though it passed through so many hands.

Thanks. I was right. It was Schaefer.
They had a brewery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on Whyte Ave. (or maybe it was Division Ave.), right down the street where i was born, and nearby was the Brooklyn Navy Yard. An uncle worked for Schaefer's for years and retired. This uncle was a celebrity in the family. Possibly he was getting beers at a discount for the family. LOL I wasn't sure if it was Schafer's or not, but when I saw the wiki article, I knew it was Schafer's Brewery. As a kid, when we played on Whyte Ave. we could always smell the beer being made.
There was also a pickle place where pickles were made across the street. The front was always opened in the day for the pickle trucks and ventilation. The smell was intoxicating. One day I ventured inside a little and looked into one of the wooden barrels and saw some pickles. A man came out and gave each of us kids a huge dill pickle each. It was so delicious and I remember it to this day. There was also a small tile factory around the corner and the owner gave me a handful of assorted small tiles which were perfect for playing house and making little chairs, tables, and counches out of.
Having more than one. Promoting alcoholism. But still, great commercials.
You must be a Calvinist exaggerating they were promoting alcoholism LOL They were selling a product, not promoting alcholism. Beer has been around since the ancient Sumerian times.
*The beer was so bad that even to this very day (long after the beer is gone) being "Schaefer'ed" means to be ripped-off!*
Yep that was some crap beer just like blatz
Proud sponsor of Brooklyn Dodgers for many years... Large famous sign at Ebetts Field🥎👍
