I've recently discovered Jack Hylton through the wonders of UA-cam , although remember playing a couple of his records when I was a kid, from my late father's collection .There is little doubt his arrangements and orchestra were top notch musicians , and with Sam Browne on vocals what could be better ?.Although I grew up in the 60s and with a wide taste in music including American R & B and Soul , this band is simply wonderful and capture all the ingredients that made Jack Hylton's style so great. My current favourite ' Did Youn Mean It ? ' which I just cannot get out of my head !.

In the first tune the singer sounds like John 'Pazz' Parry, formerly of the PRO. The tenor saxist does a very good impression of the Bean!

Having watched this event live at Newcastle I went on to do some research on Jack Hylton. I was amazed at the quality of his recordings right from his first jazz band right through to his final early 1940's orchestra. He was a real pioneer of Jazz in the UK. What a shame his records are seldom played these days.

Stumbled on this after Hylton Pathe films. Captured the Hylton spirit very well and the evolution from the 20s Jazz, through dance band and into big band. Breakaway particularly good. Thank you.

Into the age of the big bands. Lost is the aura of traditional New Orleans Jazz.

@@joostkiefte7683 The title states ..Play Hot Hylton,so these two titles are the hottest Hylton recordings and would perhaps have been more suitable....
