I saw GIAA live for the first time in my life yesterday at the 02 Islington.. Hands down, one of the best live sounding bands ever. Their music is so raw and heavy, one of the few bands that can actually outmatch their recordings. Any fan should make it a must to at least watch them live once, it is an otherworldly experience.
Gênios Som perfeito e inovador. Gosto muito de ouvir rock. Estou descobrindo o post rock e com certeza giaa é uma das melhores bandas que já ouvi. O som que eles fazem é simplesmente surreal.
I am somewhat new to the genre I have never seen them I did see explosions in the sky who in my mind is somewhat similar about three years ago and my jaw dropped fortwo hours absolute brilliance one of the best concerts ever these guys are just as good forgive me if I am speaking out of turn here
the ridecymbal is barely audible and guitars are different volumes, but still very nice to upload this. havent had the chance to catch these guys live yet
"Distant horizon, the colours colliding, vermillion like roses with shades of dusk. Merging shadows descending upon me, Disturbing my solace, reminding me... Your eyes will forever haunt me, alive then lifeless, so silent and dreamless" I can't listen to this song without crying...
Anyone having an idea about what Torsten Kinsella (the lead guitarist) could sing at 5:47 and after? (song: Epitaph). I think it's just vocals with random, non-existent words, but I am not sure
seen them 3 times. First one was for helios / erebus and it was the only concert that came up close to camel for me. I rate their live performance 9/10 at worst. The only time they kinda made an okay set was the last time because the sound system wasnt the best other than that their energy is perfect. I can tell you that it is totally worth it
robert smith couldn't handle god is an astronaut lol?? for they they alone are mind blowing from what they produce and can really preform a show and more of a atmospheric sensual experience... this band was the sound track to my ever waking moment, my rise my fall my ever weaving dance of suspension. God is an astronaut broke Robert smiths heart. lol me too rs me too, specially went you listen to the album on some lsd with a rad girl that you love and go explore the world in the eyes of a creator. IME
I still remember these, concerts, as they were called.. Nowadays in my time, 2034, kids can't even imagine what an experience these events were. We're still in quarantine, since 2020..
Too bad your prognosis didn't go through, it's 2022 and World War 3 is what's going to kill most of us. I mean, as soon as the war in Ukraine started, where I'm from, everyone forgot about the coronavirus, and people suddenly stopped getting sick or dying from it. It's as if it's a miracle, right?) Just proves how the government and the world made a freaking huge deal out of a thing that most probably ended a year ago and most of us are already immune to it. 😉
Reminds me a bit of "Explosions In the Sky" (all the hipster cool kids I know were way into them for the usual 15 min's about a decade ago) only heavier, darker, far more varied musically. Good by me.
when I look back a decade ago I have to admit that eits made the perfect soundtrack for standing around, making a seriously face while feeling the power of having a "good taste in music" while my classmates made a lot of party to David Guetta. maybe I just missed a lot of fun, don't know.
GIAA really needs that 4th member. Saw them at a small club in November with just the Kinsella brothers and drummer, and a few years earlier with the synth-lead guitarist, and it's a whole other world. Backing tracks just can't replace the extra oomph a 4th guy brings.
GIAA are one of the bands from this era of the genre that still make me feel like I’m in my late teens when I listen to them. Incredibly nostalgic sound permeating through those early albums, especially. Not only cause I grew up with them, but I think it’s part of their essence.
I really love God is an astronaut, but i really feel like quite often the drummer isn't helping the songs, adding too much or sometimes playing too "complicated" grooves for like calm and slow parts... Like there are some parts where he fits quite well the music, but too many times in my opinion where he is almost destroying the overel feeling and ambiance of the song :/
You don't know what is a complicated beat, listen to Gavin Harrison, Marco Minnemann, Antonio Sanchez and many mores into progressive music or even in jazz. He fits the songs here, almost the same as on the album.
@@Jean_Maurice i do know what it is, I’ve been playing drums constantly for the past 13 years and know all these drummer very well. That’s why I put the « », in that case complicated doesn’t mean prog or anything, it just mean it’s too much. Again it’s not on all the songs, it’s mostly the calm and slow passages that feel like it’s not being respected.
Amazing how many people come to someone else's art display only to end up using it as an opportunity to state their own ego. Easy on the 'I' and on the 'my'. This isn't about you.
Art can be personal and evocative. As a musician, seeing others relate their own meaning and experience from something created is interesting. Easy on the faux transcendentalism.
@@brianb4816 , if you were trying to disprove my criticism of taking someone else's art only to promote oneself, chosing to say 'as a musician, [I]' doesn't actually do it. But thank you for the reply, nonetheless.

Rebuttal: ua-cam.com/video/brXyqUTflws/v-deo.html The only thing about this video that sucks is how they sucked the air out of the room with that mesmerizing wall of sound.
Doesn't even come close to them actually performing. You wouldn't believe how loud and heavy they are live!!!

Medea... Astronomisch, Atmosphärisch, Apokalyptisch, Fantastisch
One of the best concerts I`ve seen!
Saw them live in UA back in 2018, that was a great experience!
When I die, I want my body to be shot into space to burn in the atmosphere while Suicide By Star is playing
For me its Post Mortem
That's f* poetic... love it
For me All Is Violent, All Is Bright
For me, Dark Rift.. But I wouldn't mind if it was Forever Lost or Suicide by Star or When Everything Dies, also
++ After 4:50 overwhelmingly touching! ++
Seen these legends in Glasgow. Im a lover of death metal and black metal, but i will never experience any gig like a GIAA ever in any lifetime.
Love this band to pieces
God is an astronaut and we have sent him into space.

Im not sure but i know the whole album was heavily influenced by the tragic death of Thorsten's younger cousin( the song Oisin is named after him)
Hey guys, they will be in Italy next year and the tickets are soooo low cost. Do you recommend seeing them live?

Almost cried at around the 6 minute mark. Truly phenomenal band.
