Thank you for making this. I had not heard the news or heard of God Wars before. I am adding it to my play asia wish list after watching this. The art book for the Japanese special edition is beautiful. I was blown away seeing the pages.
I picked up God Wars recently as well (for vita) and I really really enjoy it! It's a fun one. I find it more challenging than other tactics games I've played but maybe there's a skill issue there 😅
@@journeysilvers9838 I hope you enjoy! The theme seems really interesting and an awesome vita pickup for any vita lover. I will be warned about the difficulty as outside of Fire Emblem and Advance Wars I have not delved too deep into the genre yet either and am still learning the ropes sometimes.
I wouldn't think so, it does ramp up in difficulty and I take it slowly on the maps. But it's never unfair and always gives you a breather in between waves of attack.

I do like a challenge in games especially turned based and tactics because of how accomplished you can feel when somethings works. Something sometimes tough, but fair is great for that. Good summaries on all the games. Worth mentioning that Kadokawa Games shrunk their gaming division last year with a lot of their more niche IPs going to a separate company called Dragami Games run by the former head of Kadokawa Games (+ creator of God Wars). Maybe this has something to do with why NISA has to delist them.
I remember reading about the setup of the Dragami division and being intrigued. We shall watch developments closely!
For NA Switch owners: The two most impacted games on this list are "The Lost Child" and "God Wars: The Complete Legend", which are the only titles of this batch of delistings that are available on the NA Switch eShop.
Unlike the botched final days of "Mistover" before its delisting, NIS thankfully just discounted "The Lost Child" to $5 this afternoon, which matches the previous low price for the game on Switch. This discount lasts until the last day of the game's availability on June 18th. "God Wars" on the other hand has yet to receive a discount, but seeing as how it's getting delisted later than "The Lost Child" I wouldn't rule out a substantial discount later on this month before it gets delisted on the 30th.
Both games also have paid DLC in the form of in-game items as well. The fate of this DLC will be unknown following the delistings, but the DLC for both games is rather inexpensive so grab it while you can if it interests you.

I also enjoyed demon gaze back in the day, but my favorite crawler on the vita was hands down dungeon travelers 2. Which is actually getting a digital PC version in the next couple days, and more importantly 2-2 is also finally getting a localization along with it.
Yes indeed! I have played DT2 on the Vita and I agree it is a fantastic crawler. However, sadly another one that's attracted a lot of scorn and negativity due to the "fanservice" aspect.
I was really surprised when I saw the announcement for PC!
Sometimes PC releases get a Switch port .. which would be terrific. 😀
also the first dungeon travelers game is getting a PC port later on too, and also the first White Album visual novel from the same developer
all of them should get Switch ports.
@@Food4Dogs Unfortunately the western audience seems to have a stigma against that type of game.Tthey'd rather a game have violence than light sexual humor and eye candy for whatever reason. Shame since it's great in terms of gameplay and even characters (not the greatest story of all time or anything, but nice). In general it does seem like less of a barrier for people now than back in ~2013 though.
I was very surprised since I had just picked up the vita version again for a new playthrough recently by coincidence lol

Oh boy do I have major regrets not purchasing the limited edition for The Lost Child. I'd never really played any first-person dungeon crawling games before and I had a really good time with it.

I wanted to say "thank you" for posting this. I had read a news article the same day this video was released that mentioned the delistings, but it wasn't clear to me if some of the re-releases were the same games as the ones being delisted (they have similar but different names). I was able to pick up God Wars and Demon Gaze 1 on PC, The Lost Child I was able to get for a good price on the Switch store, and Demon Gaze 2 on the PSN!

I also didn't realise how many niche JRPGs had an Oceania release over the years. I've missed so many!
As an aside, when you held up God Wars on the OLED Switch, it was incredible to see how the colours on the screen popped. I'd heard good things, but didn't realise what a difference there was from the base Switch. Woah.

yes, the OLED Switch display really is amazing - you have to "see it to believe it". 😁 And the picture from the prologue I showed was basically just black/grey/white. Colours are eye-popping!
It's great to hear that once you tried these JRPG games, you found they were to your liking after all. So many people dismiss them without ever trying.
Which platform are you looking at for Demon Gaze? It is actually available for both PS4 and Switch. Red Art Games have it - but I find them quite expensive. The other route is VideoGamesPlus in Canada; they have Demon Gaze available and the advantage for us (you're in NZ, right?) is that the exchange rate with the CAD is pretty good right now (unlike the US dollar!) and if your order goes to CAD 100+ they ship for free. Which is a real godsend for us. That's the most cost effective way I've figured out for getting niche games to NZ.
No retailer here will ever import them. Well, Mighty Ape very occasionally gets in some stock, but you can't rely on that.

The Red Art Games rec is great, it’s always good to have another site as a back-up as not many ship more niche games to NZ and AU. I’m in Australia, and VGP is indeed a complete gamechanger. Great for my gaming library, bad for my wallet! I’d been relying heavily on Play-Asia previously, which is definitely pricier. It’s excellent to know VGP have Demon Gaze in stock. I think I’ll go the Switch route for God Wars, but it’s also good that there seems to be a reasonable amount of copies of the PS4 and the Vita versions between eBay and VGP.

Thank you so much Britta. I'm a Switch player in US. Lost Child is currently 90% off on Eshop for 1 more day then delisted. I bought it and ordered physical Switch version of God Wars. Interesting to me is Demon Gaze Extra is currently on Eshop but the publisher is Clouded Leopard Entertainment not NIS. Not sure if this is being delisted or not. So grateful to pick up both games before they are gone.

God Wars is one of my favourite SRPGs of all time. I love the mythological tale and it’s a great battle system. The graphics are never a big deal for me, as I find this style beautiful. Those extra battles on the Switch version really up the challenge and replayability is great because you can use different tactics to completely change the style of battle.
Is the DLC worth purchasing?
There isn't much optional DLC with the Switch version (the main DLC is already included in the Complete Legend).
I just had a look and there's only some small equipment DLC on the store, which honestly doesn't look important to me. You get a good range of equipment during game progress as drops and plenty to purchase in a store.
The only thing I would get is the Free DLC (2 Ookami items) which are actually useful in early battles.
I remember being interested in The Lost Child before the Shin Megami Tensei 5 hype got me and I entirely forgot about. Sad to see it getting delisted, along with the rest. For US residents, it's currently only $5 in the Nintendo Eshop until it gets delisted on the 18th this month. God Wars seems to still have a little more time on the eShop, so they might have a fire sale on it closer to it's delisting as well. I'll definitely keep an eye on it as well.
I loved demon gaze on the vita. Really lucky to have a physical copy of it.

Good thing i got this game when i pick it up at gamestop when i saw it a few years back
I am an avid player of dungeoncrawlers and grid based tactical turn based "strategy" games, not just on consoles. I got my baptism on PC in the nineties with titles like: Wizardry 6+7, Eyes of the Beholder 1+2, X-COM 1-3, Jagged Alliance 1-2. And as I am an 80´s-90´s "kid" I am also "blessed" with a need to have my games in physical format ( where possible ). So I might be one of the "lucky ones"as I noticed early on that not all of the games I want to play, or want to have are available ( or available only in limited quantities) in the major retail stores in the EU ( where I live), so I´m more or less constantly "on the hunt" for these niche games. And as such I managed to get my hands on God wars both for PS Vita and Switch, as also Shiren the Wanderer: the tower of Fortune and dice of Fate, and to get the physical release of Lost child for Switch, and the even maybe more rare Saviors of Sapphire Wings/Stranger of Sword City double pack. I just managed to procure Demon Gaze 1 for Switch, and am eyeing Labyrinth of Galleria, as I enjoyed Labyrinth of Refrain. And there is also Labyrinth of Zangetsu and Undernauts.

It is so satisfying managing to get hold of those niche JRPGs, which are often printed in small numbers and tend to become quite rare. Wow, is the double pack of SoSW/SoSC now rare? You probably noticed that I have an unboxing of that here on the channel, and also coverage of Undernauts. I think I also did an unboxing of Galleria, but the Japanese edition ...

And well if I can't find a game ( or any other similar product) in at least speacialty stores in the region, and need to order it from across the globe ( in my case: Asia, USA, Australia), then I consider it rare. I mean I couldn't even get my hand on a Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Pro controller without paying outrageous price for it; in regular specialty stores it wasn't even available for preorders, and it is a limited edition hardware for a well known and well loved series of a "big name" company.
This game looks so beutifull, I have never played, but it looks so cool

No, the Steam version is IMO safe because it is already published by Dragami Games (the new owners/managers of this game). Please check my Community post of 2 days ago for more info!

Absolutely!
Any game purchased can subsequently still be downloaded and played.
That is common practice across all platform holders. I have a lot of digital PS games that are long delisted (like Tears to Tiara 2 in my last PS3 Exclusives video) and I can redownload it, no problem.
As long as the server is running!
Very odd that they’re doing this because some of these games are only a few years old on switch. Thankfully I own all of these physically.
I have God Wars and Natural Doctrine physically. Demon Gaze has a re-release on Steam by a Japanese company called Clouded Leopard Entertainment, I wonder if that company will be taking over the US publishing for Kadokawa? That Switch port is also on Steam, but not from NIS or Clouded Leopard.
I'll have to decide if I want to play demon gaze 2 and the lost child enough to buy them before they go off the store.
As far as I can make out, Clouded Leopard is the publisher for the EXTRA version of Demon Gaze. My R3 copy has CL listed as publisher. So it makes sense that this version is not affected by the NIS license removals.
I redownloaded the lost child for switch just incase. I remembered a few of my 3ds games lost re-download access including one of my puzzler world games.

Never heard about god wars before, but fortunately it looks like the steam version will not be delisted. If nisa doesn't give a last chance discount I'll probably wait for a steam sale to play on the deck, looks like it went for the equivalent of 2 bucks in my country last time it was on sale.

Yes - the reason would be that the publisher there is listed as DRAGAMI GAMES, LTD. If you read my post on the Community tab, you'll see the background for all that.
I assume that it must be a lot easier to change/update publisher details on a pure digital store front like Steam. Eventually, this may also happen for console stores.
The Steam option is also a good one for people who have a SteamDeck!
