Pretty lipstick! I have my MHRM, but I want to take the HRCI just to have that certification also. But I’m dreading the studying. As for you, I’d never tell you that you shouldn’t. If it’s going to be beneficial to have both, then do it!! If not, then don’t right now. But I feel you on the studying part.
I am not familiar with SHRM-SCP but I can tell you as someone that has 3 HR Certifications (SPHR, PHR, and SHRM-CP) it does not hurt to have multiple certifications because I feel like they target different things and they make you well rounded. For example a big portion of the PHR involves employment law so people know that I am aware of different laws and am able to help my company stay out of legal trouble. The SHRM-CP has a lot of situational questions and this helps me prove that I am able to handle a wide variety of situations. A big portion of the SPHR involves strategy so passing the SPHR shows that I am able to create policies and drive strategy. The only reason I have not taken SHRM-SCP is because I am not qualified yet. I am going to do more research and if I feel that it is different than the SPHR and will add to my career I will take it.
I've decided that I will not be getting another certification. I have found absolutely NO benefits in having both SHRM and HRCI certifications. Most folks who have both is because they got the HRCI certification before SHRM came up with their own certs so SHRM literally had them watch a 10-20 minute powerpoint to become certified. I actually watched the powerpoint with my past director and we both laughed at how simple and short it was.
I feel like now may not the time for you to do the SPHR. You don't need it now and don't have time. It would not hurt to get it if you let go of something else, like if you start consulting full-time and quit the day job. As far as credentials go, NOT using them as part of your name is trending for a good reason. It's a great accomplishment but not part of your name :) Having it show up on the 2nd line of your LinkedIn/resume is both cleaner and looks (to me) more humble and grounded. I just moved mine when I added the SHRM-CP and it's much cleaner now. It still gets me noticed on searches and let's be honest, do you really need it listed in 3 places on your profile? Whatever you decide, I think you are hitting it out of the park right now and only you will know when the right time is.
Chill where you are at! You good Sistah! Thanks for sharing your story / journey. By watching your videos I’m close to deciding which certification I will pursue. Thanks again. Many blessings to you! ❤️🙏🏾❤️
@@HeyyyHR - I'm so torn about which one. I keep going back and forth; seems like daily. One day I know, the next day; I don't. 🤣 I'm for sure getting one of them.
I just passed my SPHR, and I don't feel like getting the SHRM-SCP. Mostly, it's because they just handed them out years ago for SPHR's in a grandfathering process.
Gosh I would've agreed if I hadn't already reached all the career goals I wanted without having both. Plus, I'm good with my six figure salary, so what's the point. It was tooo hard to study for the first one! lol
I have my main doubt is this HR job a total people management Job or Just Doing the filing and record keeping of the Employees? I didn't get an answer from Google for this question... Could you please clarify my doubt.
I have both certifications.. SHRM-SCP and SPHRi✌🏼

🗣️🗣️ EXACTLY!! I’m like give me that 10 min PowerPoint yall gave out when ya started 🤣🤣
I’ve seen most people who have both typically are teachers or professors. Otherwise , I think it just depends on the organization.
I just don’t think I need it 😬
@@HeyyyHR nope ! One is enough
To me you’re masters prepared and have a senior certification. If you get it , it needs to be WAYY more money. Otherwise , I’d say you’ve got enough.
