Love these older videos, no motorbikes, no pushbikes , just bushcraft. Which is why I subscribed in the first place.

Nice one Sandy, really enjoyed that and such a stunning location. That manor house was unreal, like a doll house as you said! What it would be to own such land.
That bivi looks the business, well put together and roomy.
Really nice video, thanks for sharing.,

    Pete,
Glad you watched it mate. We both thing on the same wavelength. This Dutch bivi is going to open up a lot of stealth camp options for me. I like the warm closed in feel that the bivi give and am amazed at how low the visual impact is. You are absolutelty right about using time in the here and now. Sounds like your in for a busy year. Over the last few months I have managed a camp once every 2 weeks. Got plans too.
    All the best mate

    Hi ekhaat,
The Dutch bivi is really great. Well made but as you say it really does need a tarp over it. With the addition of the tarp it becomes 5 star accomodation. It was so nice being able to unzip the bivi and just lean out and cook my breakfast under the tarp. I will be using it quite a bit this year.

Hi Ken, It was borderline anarchy saying I was tresspassing and encouraging others to do the same. Ofcourse there is often good reasons not to camp in a certain area. For example, there could be rare flora or fauna etc that could be adversley effected, but these woods were derelict and no conservation goes on there but nature it's self, so I didn't feel guillty. I believe we are as much part of nature as the animals anyway!
The history here is immense. If you want any more info just ask.

    Hi Sara,
There is such a depth of history here going back to the great stone culture and the first settlers of these islands. The Ridgeway is the oldest road in Britian. I have walked and camped along the section from Avebury to Ivinghoe beacon. Thats a distance of 85 miles. That part of the ridgeway is known as the Neolithic section with huge open vista's and rolling chalk downlad. Everywhere is the sound of the skylark. Its a beautiful place.
    Take care
    Sandy

  • @WiltshireMan
    @WiltshireMan  11 років тому

Pete, It will be a good shelter for the Ridgeway, but I would recommend taking a small tarp to give additional shelter whilst cooking etc.

Wonderful video Sandy! I'm still in the grip of winter here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, but hope to get out camping in four to six weeks. Two feet of snow on the ground still but the days are getting longer and the sun a little higher. Thanks for the history lessen, the nice music, and beautiful scenery. At 60 years old I understand the importance of using our time wisely. Thank you for making your videos! Sincerely, Ossie

Thanks for the video Sandy, lovely countryside and similar to where I live up in the Yorkshire Wolds. Just getting my kit together and resurecting other stuff to do my first wild camp, unfortunately it too will have to be a stealth camp but at least it is on the junction of two long distance paths so at least I will have some cred for being there. It's well wooded and in a valley not overlooked by anyone so should be undisturbed. I like all your video's, they give us all plenty of tips and nice to see Elsa spending time with you too. Keep em coming. Regards, Steve.

Nice little overnighter with the hooped biv' Sandy. Good you could try it out in situ to a bit of stealth....we loves our stealth lol. Cheers for the name drop mate. Poinient little comment at end of the vid for sure about we're a long time 6ft under or dust to the wind, time is precious, we can't save it.....it can only be used in the "now" not before not after, so we need to use it wisely & more more of it outdoors the better. Plenty planned for me this yr - rivers hills n woods.

Ive got a similar shelter to try out soon .. I spend most of the time outside the tent and only go in to sleep so these types can be a good option .
With you on the private land ! I fish a stretch of river that's owned by a knob who lives in Spain .. I buy my rod license even though al never be asked for it where i fish .. I enjoy myself on whatever bit of land i feel comfortable on and leave it as i found it .
