If you have lots of moisture in your basement, you should get someone to fix it as soon as possible. It could be something simple like a leaking pipe, or it could be coming through the basement walls which would be a lot more expensive to fix. Get professionals to fix it.
I'd just leave it and get a few goldfish and plants and make a feature of it. 🙂
His house is on a slope, hell br getting moisture ingress from the back of his property from the ground saturation and pressure.
His only real choice is to dig a trench around his foundation and put in perforated drainage pipes.
Oh well! He can do it and it'll be fun to watch!
I have some damp patches in my basement. But seeing his is insane. 😮
@@BobDevV Renting a micro excavator for 2 weeks is not that expensive. The hard thing is getting an expert to show you what and how to do it.
@@BobDevV there's more to it then that obviously but I didn't want to write a 20 minute response.
You need to lay down geotextile fabric, clean 3/4"-1" rock, and a good amount to surround the drainage pipe, then fill clean rock around the pipe, fold over the fabric. Resodd.
Works great. Considering houses 100+ years ago used clay tile that are still "somewhat working": it'll work great for our creator. He has an engineers mind, so surely he'll work out the details.
Just digging in a piece of plastic pipe with holes in it will clog unless you can increase the surface area multiple times. This should be well understood by most subscribers on this channel.
[edit]
Yes waterproofing membrane is a good idea, while the trench is open: hopefully he applies it to at least the 3 exterior walls to help divert the moisture.
Here is a coffee for you guys. All the best and happy + successful renovation!
3:44 I'd bet that vacuuming session alone ate at least 100's of tiny SMD resistors. That might be millions of Ohms!!1!one!
Sky blue room?
Is there a "Tiny-Bitluni" on the way?
Either way.
Congratulations on the new place.
Make it your own.
I for one would love to see your renovations on the channel and what you can do with the place.
Solar, electrical, renovation, ( is the stream yours? ) water power generator?
Etc.. etc..
No, it would be a Bitluni Micro or even Bitluni-mini 🤣
He would have to promote himself to Byteluni to free the name for the small one.
Good Luck with your new home !
The most important thing is that your cat has a nice new jungle to play in.
There's a great saying "Renovation is worse than fire", good luck!
Dont even bother with renovating before you found and fixed the water problem. Usually the rain drainage is clogged or not existing. Get a small digger and watch a lot of YT.
Living in your own hause will transform you into a plumber, electrician, carpenter, heating expert and plasterer. You will excel at all tasks.
and roofer
Whan the wallpapers come down in one piece you got water issues. Surprised its not all covered in mold. That little dehumidifier is not going to do much. It looks like you get more water coming in than it can draw out.
I have been following you for quite some time and i was very lucky to take a picture with you at the MakerFaire (which i am still VERY happy about :3) and I am SO excited for the stuff you have ahead of you!
I wish you all the best for your new house! :)
I like renovation projects and how to setup lab spaces. I have been doing that where I'm at now... It's an opportunity!
The house is a 1951 bungalow that my parents bought new... still, never underestimate old houses and surprises. The moisture is the biggest issue, look out for mold hope you get it tested, that will ruin your health with mysterious diseases and you won't connect the two for a long time, at least keep that in mind to get it tested.
Lastly on Time management, you're not bad at it, but I'll say you're more active and have a lot of social activities and such... so you seem to be getting it done, perhaps not on the timing that you had planned, and you have your wife helping you, and you have your health... These are truly blessings. I used to take these for granted, but sadly I lost my longtime GF to cancer in 2020 and then got long-covid that shuts my energy down. I have ambitious hopes to do a lot of things, but I find my limits when I try to push myself physically. Still I plod forward and I try to get my house and my lab in order.
Best of luck putting together your lab, I enjoy your videos, and yes please, put in a renovation how your lab is being setup I'd like to see it. Cheers.
So it’s a young house then..
The house I grew up in (born in 1978) was from 1895, and the house I live in now is from 1897.
“With age comes responsibility, or something.” 😏
@@BoHolbo, right, but the trades were different back then and so were the building codes, and even in my case 1950's to 2023 has changed in how everything is done. What the surprises I had were just that they don't make replacement parts to make an easy fix, oh no... so it's often more work than expected. Slowly I'm converting things over to the modern. Even the DIY project, I found, frustratingly, that the internal doorknobs were smaller and the modern one requires a larger hole, I got the specialized jig and proceeded to switch out all the room and passage doorknobs in my house... It's tiny stuff like that, then it's the bigger projects I can't DIY, like the plumbing... the pipes were galvanized and rusting, re-piped with copper, waste lines rusted out, next was the roof system, gutters, fascia boards, grrrrrr.... and don't get me going on the electrical... sigh. So far I've sunk over $114,000 in all the nice upgrades and repairs.
@@BoHolbo I got a house from 1979, has indoor plumbing and electric lighting.
hope you have fun with the new house , the garden is cool , you can take a break if you want to
Nice PFP lol! That image had been my PFP on Steam for many years, love 555
@@Hexnano me too I love it
Congratulations on this upgrade! Wish you all the home improvement fun there is and I hope the challenges on the way won't be too severe. Thank you for all your video's in the past years and I hope to enjoy many more in the future.
Best wishes for you, I hope that the new lab have a plenty of space for new amazing projects!
Hey Bitluni!
I'm totally with you man, I've spent most of my time in the last 4 months with renovations (also working on a new mancave amongst other things)... Seeing that basement wall my first suspect is the lack of moisture insulation on the outside of the walls/foundation or between the brick wall and the concrete foundation. If it's the former, it's rather easy to fix although takes a lot of digging and buying some XPS. If it's the latter, it's a real PITA as moisture will always seep upwards from the foundation into the brick wall. Anyway, since it's been two weeks since you posted this video, I'm pretty sure you've figured it out by now and honestly I can't wait for the next update on your new lab :) What else can I say? Keep up the good work and wish you all the best!
At 3:50 -- yeah, every time I move I have an emotional moment when I feel a life chapter closing, and a new one opening. I recognize that face!
Good luck with the move and settling in, hope it all goes well.
Congratulations on your new home!
Best of luck to you from Malaysia
Congrats on the new home!
Good luck moving in! Don’t bring that LuniLotte luck with you!
Good luck with your renovation 😀
Hei, do auf jeden Fall not worry, ist ne schicke Hütte 👍
Gutes Gelingen & Hammer-videos (by the way)
Grüßle,
Gunni
Ps Bei Fragen einfach mailen 😉
Careful about the possibility of black mold. Can be an unhealthy problem, as well as unsightly.
Bassement perfect for streaming!
... water
All the best with your new home and lab!
Well done cant wait to see the outcome
excited to see the new space!
Time to start digging I guess, and waterproofing the walls in the ground/draining water. I wish you good luck solving that. the moisture can't be healthy. Aa good moisture meter like a Trotec T610/T660 could be used as indicator(maybe rent it, they are not cheap) or maybe even an IR camera to see where it comes from. I guess you have a new project to film.
Great that you are comming back, take care, greetings from Poland ! CU
Best wishes on the new home, well, you like building projects, and it looks like it will provide many ;- ) As well as a distinctive place to be in all that greenery. Enjoy!
Waiting for the updates mate.
I wish you good luck about that moisture issue, those can be pain to deal with. Other then that, looks like lots of room for projects.
Good luck with the new lab :)
You had me scared for a moment there!
Hello From Latvia! Congrats with new house ! But now You must show us how You deal with leaking wall.
❤🛠🤟👌👌👌 greetings from the Netherlands and good luck with the new house
Wouldn't mind some renovations content, especially if it does involve some microcontroller fidgetry...
Glad to see the move has gone ok.
Even better to see a guest appearance from your cat
Congratulations and good luck. :)
Ich wünsche euch ganz viel Kraft 🙏
Hey Bitluni, you scared me for a moment! Cheers
The house looks way bigger than 100m² living space
Thanks. You're one of the best at what you do on UA-cam.
Nice house. Just have Brian, Seon and David coming on a visit to dig the trench. Fortunately, you've got some experience with plumbing, too. 😊
Sign me up!
I wish you to overcome all issues with this house and make it really good as new lab and really cozy as new place for living
3:51 😢
Moving...
Be careful of mold from all the moisture. It can be very bad for your health.
Good luck mate
Good job! Go on~~~
24 hour livestream of house repair? 🙌🏼
3 year livestream ;)
My move got messy too:
Plan A) Truck driver got the plague
Plan B) Moving company screwed me over with payment, so I did not wanna trust them with my stuff anymore
So we had to take option C) rent a small transporter and throw away a lot including the kitchen and pay for that...
Sorry to see you so sad ,I know how hard it is to move from a place you call Home ... hope you settle in soon (with lots of good memories to come)
Nice.
Ask experts for advice. Talk to everyone around you about it, and especially your neighbours. Getting proper diagnosis of the problem could save you years of stress and mistakes. I’ve found that people are quite often happy just to help, even when they know you can’t afford their normal fees. See if anyone has a spare room that you can offload some of your stuff. Even if it’s just temporary
Good luck ☺
Bravo!
Did I catch a hint of what's coming next to the couple at the last shot of the house ? If so Congrats.
When there's a question in the title, the answer is always: No.
Make sure to find out very concretely the *source* of the water / moisture. That stuff ruins houses & rooms.
The moisture in the basement might also come from the outside... You might even need to digg outside and reseal the wall
4:09 @JeffGeerling got any Red Shirt for Bitluni? 😆
Please make videos about the renovation!
We're only here for the cat. How did the cat handle the move? 😆👍
feel for ya man. it's alot of work.
Danke!
That's not fair. It's not April yet.
no it's not ... !!! one of the best electronics youtube channel.
Best wishes for you
I Love bitluni 👍👍💪🏾
Peak tech engineer house, calm, close to nature, plenty of food comes from tree not fridge
Please make a renovation channel xD❤
Influential and inspiring
Is David Watts going to drop in and help with the renovations ?
Luni - painting, renovation, movers ... if the video thing doesn't turn into success :P
Could it be that I saw an NES in its original packaging in your trunk?
Love from india ❤
Maybe pivot A LITTLE BIT to a renovation channel?????
Moving somehow always manages to be a nightmare. You seem to have definitely had a particularly bad time of it.
Guten Tag.
Rent an excavator, dig tranches around a house and install drainage pipes or fill tranches with gravel.. Otherwise renovation has no sense - you will waste a lot of time an money with no result.
French drains, more accurately, but yes! Drainage, drainage, drainage
When I see the notification on my phone, I just like *the hell my tutorial Channel will gone* but now I can free for breathing😅
Same
Had a fright there for a second lol
I thought you have Hitler sticker on 3:18 😂
didnt see it
You don't turn into a renovation channel? Too bad!! 😊 Maybe start a second channel? I think you already mentioned the title... Haus Luni-lotte 😊
You get bitten by the rebuild bug after helping What's his name (damn I am scared of my memory loss)
At least your not on your own
😢
I do not appreciate the clickbait title
Please don't descend to the level of clickbait, you're better than that.
*cleans keyboard* Luni, are you crazy? 😱You're literally killing your viewers with such messages....or at least a good cup of tea. 😭
great click bait title
