People do not appreciate s30v enough, especially done by Spyderco. But Spyderco s45vn is going to be a rough equivalent level steel, just slight give and take in attributes. S35vn has no value (to the consumer) in comparison to these two steels. But yeah, I agree s30v is an excellent and usually underappreciated steel. I like it over Elmax too.
I love spydercos s30 (this is in response to both) and to Davec's point - in case you didn't catch why he said there's no value to yhe consumer - it's cheaper (s45 even slightly more so) to work with and easier on tooling ultimately making spyderco more money in the end (despite the constant price hikes) I've mostly stopped collecting a ton of knives I'm down to like 12 (sounds obnoxious unless you one of us still) most of em are spydercos. That being said their customer service is ... dumb and takes forever- the prices are insane at this point (by comparison of two years ago) but relative to the market honestly their still not as bad as benchmades prices. But weirdly enough - I'm still a customer and fan boy of em for life
Also the sage would take it down - but I've never gotten a sage to have the action without bladeplay I want and the para 3 almost always can get that action not to mention I really dislike how skinny it feels around the "neck" finger choil area ... weird I know I want to love the sage more but ehhhh I dunno

This has been the best review I have seen. Now…When I first saw the PM2 I love the way that beast looks, like a claw or fang. The Para 3 didn’t hit the same way though, causing me to avoid it for years. I need a 3” knife though due to job site restrictions. I am leaning towards the Para.
Oddly enough, if we swapped the grippy scales to the Sage 5, I'd be more likely to purchase it. I actually prefer a grippy knife, I hate carbon fiber scales. Nice battle brother 💪⚔️💪

It's tough, the Para 3 I love that talon shaped blade, but the Sage 5 has that leaf shape that's also a classic

Good point, before i owned a Spyderco, i thought they were all pretty ugly. Now most of them are beautiful to me.

I like both. I think the best configuration between both knives is the sage 5 LW.

Looks like there’s a huge difference in the lanyard hole. I suppose that would make the difference for some users.

Have MANY Spyderco knives. Many Para 3’s. But love my bhq mint M4 Sage. And even the s30v lw version is great. Just the stand off looks more quality.
Took me 2 years into the life to like spyderco. Crazy to say looking forward from back. But they shit on bearing knife in performance not theory
I think the sage 5 looks goofy. It just looks weird to me. I think people just judge the para 3 on its hump and not the actual blade shape
