Glad to see better experience with the replacement machine ! We recently added the MK4 to our print farm and also added it to our Prusa Connect setup . It works amazing , super quiet , faster print times than the MK3S+ the first layer detection is putting out amazing first layers to build on . Definitely a move forward and very excited to get the upgrade kits for the MK3 machines .

Thanks for the review, really interesting! It's funny, the one feature I found particullary helpful is the led indicator. It is just great to take a quick look into the workshop: blue - working, green - finished, yellow - out of filament, or red - something broke. It's like the lights on big industry machines. That being said, I came to the same conclusion, it is a great printer, but times have changed, and it is not a default recommendation over the alternative anymore.

I started with a Neptune three got a Saturn 2 8k. Then got a bambu x1c and Neptune max. Got this prusa sold it two weeks later didn’t find the quality the same speed didn’t help and I disliked everything about the interface in the wireless to the point to where I just couldn’t do it. I will write Network code and I saw how bad their network code was and I just couldn’t have it. Thanks as always for the honest review I know a lot of people like this product and are happy with it and I’m happy for them sometimes things just don’t work for one person and that’s how it is. Most people don’t like me that’s OK I’m not the most likable person if I was maybe I’d like this printer more. Anyway can’t wait to see the four of you always happy to see the contact definitely going to look at that subscription for the STL files I think I found something new to do today. Be well Be you

And maybe a detailed pros and cons comparison of the two? That would be fantastic. Or maybe that should be a separate video now that I think of it lol. Keep up the great videos! sounds like another home run for prusa. My biggest caveats are the prices and print volume. When my ender 3 has a bigger build size at a 1/4 the price it's hard to justify. I have a P1P as well and it's an excellent printer at 1/2 the price.

before either camps attack me, I have Prusa machines that are great, I have an X1C that I love. I'm not brand loyal...I'm good 3D printing loyal. With that being said though, I really wished Prusa would have re-evaluated the value proposition with the new generation MK4. I think Prusa makes a very solid machine that even with the Mk4 advancements, feel outdated. while reliable, are extremely over-priced for the feature set. I would love to see prusa innovate to the point where their price feels like they have value or consider pricing decreases to be more competitive. My X1C produces as good prints but with less faults than the MK4 at a fraction of the print time. I'd really love to see the MK5 shake up the industry because I'm routing for Prusa but cant recommend them this generation.

Regardless of whether the X1C or the MK4 is better, we should acknowledge that they represent significant advancement for everyone. Ten years ago, 3D printing was only hobby for experts and enthusiasts. However, this has changed thanks to new technologies, and it is now much easier for anyone to become interested in and participate in the world of 3D printing. Personally, I think both Prusa and Bambu are great because they both produce models that I have designed. A larger print area, like the one available on the Prusa XL, would still be welcome addition to my current printer.

At 8:52, BINGO, thank you! This is what I want to hear. I really don't care about tremendous speeds like you get with the Bambu X1. I want to see examples of print quality.. for instance, does it produce vertical lines? Just how good does the final print look compared to other printers? The less post processing I can avoid is a good tradeoff for a machine like the MK4 giving me better quality prints and smother surfaces than the X1. And I wish someone would print either a large cylinder or cube (like a large X Y Z cube) using a color/gloss material that shows print details the best. Thank-you!

I think my biggest gripe with Prusa, at the moment, is they only sell in US$. All other competitors, or semi-competitors, are selling in Canada dollars. The their asking price, is their asking price! So the big deal? US$ to CAN$, it can vary from day-to-day, week-to-week, etc. If I were to purchase the same kit as you did, it costed you $1,284.00 USD. At today's exchange rate (1.37), it would cost me $1,759.08 CAN$. If hesitated and waited until next week, the exchange could be at 1.5, for a cost of $1,926.00 - extreme example, but potentially possible. That's actually 27 bucks more than the Snapmaker A350T 3-in1 with a 320 x 350 x 220 bed. Or, $377 bucks more than a Bambu Lab X1 Carbon.
I own 3 Original Prusa MK3.5s, at the time they were worth the money because nothing compared them. They were the best, or near best, you could get at the time. I can't actually and truly say that any more. Price per value, they have become even more expensive, for what they offer, when compared to the modern market. It does make me sad, I enjoyed my time with my Prusa's; e.g. upgrading 2x 3.0's to 3.5s, etc. At this point, I can't even see me purchasing a MK4 upgrade kit at $579.00 (w/ shipping, taxes, etc.) and then exchange rate. Most certainly... not three! It makes me sad, but my next purchase will probably not be a Prusa! In reality, they're giving me no choice!

I ordered my printer on April 12th based on the shipping information that prusa has provided I should be receiving it in about 2 weeks from now idc how long it takes. I got absolutely fed up with my ender 3 with the constant fiddling and constant issues I went and bought a mk4. After my ender 3 debacle anyone who says “but x printer is cheaper and just as good” I was told that exact same thing when I bought my ender 3 5 years ago and here I am buying a prusa. I have also heard “just upgrade your ender 3 and you’ll get all the features of the prusa” absolutely not. Every time you change something about your printer you’ll need to do more tinkering with it after the fact. I honestly thought about buying a x1c or p1p but I didn’t trust them I didn’t know how well they would be supported 5+ years down the line and on top of all that my files go to their servers that was a no go

being a closed system, your concerns are valid, though their spare parts are quite cheap.
going thru server enables you to start remote print, unless your design is a potential multi million cash maker i dont see why not.
Or, you can enable Lan only mode on the printer and your files wont go thru the server, or u can just have your g-code on sd card

    • @boomerguy3368
      @boomerguy3368 Рік тому +1

@@thamjunyan6992 cheap parts today does not guarantee availability of parts tomorrow. Any printer is not immune to a total redesign including prusas. But a prusa only really uses a few non printed and not widely available parts like the frame, the y carriage, the power supply, the mainboard and the heatbed. I can pretty much replace the rest on my own or print my replacement parts. Bambu labs have already issued a design revision for the p1p; some x1c parts are not compatible with the p1p. I could use LAN mode but the thought of them even trying something like that just irks me like what else are they doing in their software. Why print it over the cloud at all when the alternatives are open like octoprint and prusalink.

For anyone who already has a Prusa MK3s or later, the MK4 is $699 I believe via the upgrade kit… I’m personally more interested in the XL. I find the rod & mitsumi bearing solution to be too noisey & create far too much slop & vibration. So the MK4 won’t be for me. Even though it looks like they have increased the diameter of the rods used, ’ll retire the MK3 once the current set of rods are worn out & call it a day. The Prusa XL with linear railing has caught my attention.

Prusa printers are open source, along with the firmware and software. This means you aren't locked into a product ecosystem, like with Bambu. Even if Prusa as a company disappears, the firmware and software will likely still be updated and maintained by the community and parts will still be available from third party manufacturers. Supporting a company that builds a quality product and balances profit with positive contributions to the 3d printing community is a great reason for preferring their product over others.

If the files read cleanly from the old USB drive to a new one - then it doesn't sound like a corruption problem, as the corruption would be copied over. Printers are pretty time sensitive, and if they can't get information from the drive fast enough, that can lead to problems. So I think it's actually a problem with the speed or latency of the drive (or with the file system the drive uses).

It's odd that it doesn't show the total print time, as that is on the MK3 models. Seems like they got rid of some of the data the older model provides.
If you want to know how long something takes to print though, just use Prusa Slicer. The ETA times are about 99% accurate.
It's also funny to see features you are loving, which Prusa users are "Wait, other printers don't have these features? They are just logical things every printer should do."
Prusa makes a bigger printer for people who want a bigger print volume. This is the smaller model. Just like other manufacturers, you want bigger, pay up.

They have the build quality, make a bigger print volume with all the quality of life improvements that you can get in other printers (for less money) and they could be sitting at the top. It just doesn't make sense that they'd make you give up everything else you can get on other printers just for print quality but still be so expensive.

I do not own a Prusa printer but this appears to be a solid machine and the company support is appealing. But it seems to me that they missed their timing by about 2-3 years. If this printer came along then, it would be a must buy for me. But unfortunately, the bar for what I expect from a printer has gone up in those same 2-3 years so that the MK4 is now barely checking the boxes and for a price that is at least 2x the cost of other printers that boast similar feature sets. I did end up going with the Bambu Lab (haters, don’t hate - I’m not one of those Bambu Lab only guys) for a number of reasons: 1) it’s the same price as the MK4 after taxes, shipping, etc. I think Uncle Jessie set the MK4 at about $1,280 and the X1 is $1,299 plus tax; 2) It prints faster with high quality; 3) Orca Slicer has, for me at least, leveled the slicer playing field between say Cura and Prusaslicer; 4) I get an enclosed printer that prints ABS and Nylons as easily as PLA (that’s not an exaggeration. I print a lot of PETG, ABS, Nylons, PC’s. It just works). So that’s why it ticked my boxes. Again I’m not trying to make a us vs. them statement. This is just my experience. And the “open source: thing doesn’t bother me because I can buy all the X1C parts I want for a fraction of the price of “open source” parts of similar quality. In the end, hats off to Bambu Lab and Prusa for continuing to innovate and provide products that will suit different needs for different people.

  • @ScytheNoire

The Prusa Link password is so long because it will be connecting over the internet and be remotely accessible. It's not just local. So you need to have a password longer than 12 characters for security. If it was just a 4-5 digit code, every Prusa Link account would be compromised in seconds. Each character added exponentially increases length of time to crack. So 15 characters is a good size to have. Any password/passphrase you use for banking, etc should be over 12 characters. This is why passphrases are better, it's easier for the human brain to remember a sentence, and length is what matters for security, not complexity. Computers running cracks don't care if it's a letter, number, or symbol, a character is a character. Adding symbols just adds to the pool of characters that have to be checked, but as long as the site allows those characters, they'll have to be checked again, but you using them doesn't mean it's more secure. We've been doing password security wrong for so long now. Bad habits and horrible policies just make it worse.
