It is true that Star Hotel & Kebab is an old restaurant chain in the Dhaka city that serves delicious food with reasonable price.Star Kabab & restaurant has 11 branches in Dhaka. In 2015 it won the best Bangladeshi restaurant award in The Daily Star Foodiez choice awards. They started his business in 1965. Present locations are Thatari Bazar, Wari, Kawran Bazar, Gulistan, Bango Bazar, Dhanmondi-2, Satmosjid Road, Dhanmondi, Banani, New Elephant road, Johnson Road
They are open from early morning to late night. They are famous for Good for biryani, leg roast, jhal fry, seekh kebab, grill, nan and other spicy foods. In Bangladesh, specially in Dhaka few such restaurants can be found which are special for Bangladeshi food. Star Kabab Restaurant is one of them.Great Local food, Especially breakfast. The restaurant has a clean kitchen, decent service and awesome taste of food. Price is very reasonable. Milk tea is awesome as well.
Food prices are reasonable. For example, Seekh Kabab (beaf) and 1/4th chicken grill with naan, tea and faluda cost 800 BDT
One of the best foods is kabab. One may get different types of kabab like sikh kabab, boti kabab, chap, reshmi kabab,shami kabab.
Biriyani, plain pulao, and roast are also delicious. Different types of fish are also available like hilsa (elish), rue, shrimp (chingri), rupchanda etc. Milk tea is also very tasty. One can get fresh fruit juice,borhani.It's also famous for breakfast. For breakfast naan,paratha is always available.
"Kacchi Biryani" is the most popular food at the launch time. The Biryani was tasty. The mutton Kacchi biryani with meat and egg was delicious and one of the best ones in Dhaka city at a reasonable price.. The Labang is an interesting drink , and the borhani was also really interesting with a chilli and sweet mix of taste.
Good points:
Reasonably priced. 2 people can eat like kings for breakfast for 500-600 taka
In the breakfast period - Families - Elderly walkers - Medical Students etc all categories of people can enjoy the breakfast.
The paaya is popular and available from at 7.30 am
The parathas and naans are nice and not oily
The mutton aloo, mutton daal and mixed vegetables are really good which are needed for breakfast.
The chai on its own is a nice morning & evening drink throughout the year.
Mutton goat meat( khashi) is reliable, soft & tasty.
Bad points:
When its busy you have to wave at the waiters to come to you several times.
Hygiene issues, the hand wash areas & toilets should be more cleaner.
The sheekh kebab and chicken kebabs are not as tasty, like previous & now quite expensive.
The faluda is nice but with less fruit.
They should improve their service, sometimes customers have to wait a long time for the food after ordering.
The crowd and noise levels are immense during launch time. It can solve putting the dining table in a more spacious room.
Parking facilities are not available in all locations.
-Not suitable for foreigners as it might get crowded and noisy during peak times. 7.30 am or earlier is the best time to visit.
Table & food decoration are not considered. May be to keep the price reasonable.
In the video, we visited the Hotel super Star Restaurant at Kawran Bazar. It is very near to Bashundhara city mall. After shopping, we went there for Ramadan iftar. After a long fasting throughout the day, the foods we ordered for iftery were very good & delicious.
