Watched the whole thing - Such a cool video idea, but I kind of figured you wouldn't like most of these, just because of your personal taste. What if you first sorted your TBR by genre and then picked the top 5-rated books from that genre? I bet reading the top-5 rated thrillers on your TBR or the top-5 rated contemporaries on your TBR would go a lot differently than this video did.
If you ever do this again I think you should find the 10 highest and then pick 5 of them that you want to read. Thus way you are reading the highest rated but still having some say in it so you are getting to read things you are excited for. Or allow yourself a veto or two.
It's funny cause I actually did intend for this video to be that way! I actually filmed a reaction to the top 10 highest rated books, with the plan being I would allow myself to DNF and move onto the next book on the list whenever I wanted, as long as I had read 5 books by the end. Then when I messed up with the Crooked Kingdom stuff I edited that whole chunk out because the video was getting so convoluted. I love that we were on the same page! 😆
I only give 1 star to books that I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Books I personally dislike (because of the genre for example) that others might enjoy I give 2 stars.
How was the book? I just bought it! I’ve heard good things about it. It’s not my typical genre choice, but because of all the good reviews I decided to give it a try and step out of my reading comfort zone haha! (and I also got it for like $5 on Amazon so even if I hate it I barely paid anything LOL)
If you haven’t already, you should try a challenge of most requested reads from your viewers. I feel like they would know your tastes better and you’d have a better time.

Yaaassssssss! I was waiting for another video like this!! I’ve been so intrigued by these type of TBR videos from you, and I’ve been watching them nonstop 😍😍 I’m super excited to watch this one!!
I am CACKLING watching you hate on historical fiction 😂 I'm also so done with books set during WWII they're always either incredibly sad and make you lose all faith in humanity or the exact same love story
With the way you talk about historical fiction, to me it sounds like you've read a lot that is war-based or takes place during a war and that's a major part of the story. Although I have read historical fiction where that's a good chunk of the book, most of my favorites are stories that take place in the past which is influential and important to the lives of the characters but it doesn't like surround a war. Some historical fiction I've read doesn't even take place during a war or highly political time, and it's more so the setting of a past time period and societal aspects are part of the story.
I love historical fiction, but I tend to avoid the World War I and II years and for US fiction, civil war and Vietnam because reading about war just doesn't appeal to me. I really like stories set in the 1800s, 1950s or 1920s.

Love this video. I guess one of my biggest questions is, why are these books on your TBR if you really don't want to read them anyway? Maybe this is a great question to ask myself if there are books on my TBR that I'll just never pick up lol.

I also find it fascinating that we have such different taste in books yet I still love watching all of your videos. (I don’t read contemporary, love fantasy, haven’t read enough thrillers yet to be seeing repetitive twists, love series.) I enjoyed the video, I always love watching your videos, your ideas and way of portraying the subject. I think your conclusion of going through your tbr and kicking some books out, is a good one. Dude I just love it when Lala experiments these book related stuff !!! She should turn her channel into a channel that has book experiments Vedios while doing other stuff too !!!!!
I'm so surprised you haven't read the seven husbands of evelyn hugo yet! I was weary after all the hype but one of the best books I've ever read. I'm also not super into historical fiction but really enjoyed the nightingale. It starts slow but gets better after 50 pages or so. I read it a year ago and still think of it
Your face while reading the synopsis for The Nightingale killed me. I have a similar problem with literary fiction, but probably like me, this experience will have no effect whatsoever on your habit of picking up books you know you're going to hate lol. I know I definitely can't stop myself
I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who's lukewarm on literary fiction about wars! It's dumb, but sometimes I feel a little guilty for finding it so boring because it's "serious" and "important" and a lot of people do like it
YOU CRACK ME UP!!! I haven't even finished this video yet and I'm loving it. I can't wait to see what you think of The Nightingale. I haven't read it but have it and just might read it along with you. Hey, I still see Killing Lessons on the shelf right behind you darling. Can't wait for you to pick it up!!! Hope you guys are well. Love your sweet fam. Hugs to you from Maine.
I loved the Nightingale but it did take me a long time to read. Historical Fiction definitely isn’t for everyone. I love when you do these videos it make me want to do videos like this on my channel. Love everything you do!
Had to laugh when i saw The Lumeniers as one if your predictions for a high rating. I bought that book earlier this year because it was a really good deal, came home and realized that I wasn't actually interested in reading it after all. I've watched this video like six times you just make me so happy
I enjoyed the video, I always love watching your videos, your ideas and way of portraying the subject. I think your conclusion of going through your tbr and kicking some books out, is a good one. Even if they are popular books, if you have good reasons to believe that you won’t enjoy it, why not just let them go and read more interesting ones :)
Dude I just love it when Lala experiments these book related stuff !!! She should turn her channel into a channel that has book experiments Vedios while doing other stuff too !!!!!
I have a bachelors in History, had a good giggle during you reading the synopsis of the nightingale
A man called Ove is one of my favourite books, so hope you're reading it in the future:) I also love his book Britt-Marie was here.
"pardon me, I have heartburn" best beginning to any video ever! hahaha!!!!
“Pardon me, I have heartburn”
Same girl, same.
The nightingale was so good
I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who's lukewarm on literary fiction about wars! It's dumb, but sometimes I feel a little guilty for finding it so boring because it's "serious" and "important" and a lot of people do like it
I’m terrified that you’re going to run out of ideas like this. These are my favorite kind of videos 😂
Cooked Kingdom is one of my favorites ❤ It was a 5 star read for me.
The nightingale was amazing. I hope u end up liking it. Made me cry.
I loved the Nightingale but it did take me a long time to read. Historical Fiction definitely isn’t for everyone. I love when you do these videos it make me want to do videos like this on my channel. Love everything you do!
I just love your videos so much!!!! You make me laugh soo much!!
what a relatable queen -"pardon me I have heartburn" girl me too
you should do a try a chapter video for sequels to books that you rated highly
Had to laugh when i saw The Lumeniers as one if your predictions for a high rating. I bought that book earlier this year because it was a really good deal, came home and realized that I wasn't actually interested in reading it after all. Now I got the audio book from the library and am 4 hours into a 30h book and actually quite like it. 😄
