I'm 70 and went through the whole rock'n roll, beatles, stones, hippie, prog rock, soul, tamla, brit pop, etc; scenes these are one of the best bands I've heard.
If for some reason you can't enjoy all 35 minutes, I got ya covered:
00:31 Floating World
03:19 C'est La Vie Way
06:57 Automatic
09:46 Mr. Startup
13:03 Interview
23:55 Modern World
27:20 Dinner Bells
So nice to hear a live dinner bells
So glad they played Dinner Bells. Thanks KEXP for having them on!
love how much the drummer is into it. 100%. its good to see people be consumed by what theyre doing.
I absolutely love Wolf Parade. Can't wait to see them in Brooklyn this October, as well as hearing the new record.
I absolutely love this band. Saw them live on their At mount zoomer tour back in 2008 i believe, where they closed it with a very long version of kissing the beehive. A song that became a favourite of mine for years to come. So damn glad they are back
Always loved how no matter what he's doing, Dan seems to put everything he has into things. Like even if it's a super simple guitar line, everything's going into those 4 or 5 notes.
sunglasses inside always a bold move
blame the italians
LOVE these dudes! It was a dreary day when I first heard them on KEXP ten years ago or so. I stopped in Portland and bought Apologizes to the Queen Mary. It was just what I needed. Been a fan of whatever Spencer and Dan do ever since. Thanks KEXP!!!
Holy crap, best performance of "Modern World" I've heard
Hells yeab
Yess!!!
Dinner Bells is such an amazing song. I love the EP version so much and this right here is just the best.
So cool to see these guys back (together) with new tracks & old ones.
Would have loved to hear "I'll believe in anything " or "Shine a light" though!
Yeah -shine a light- or -you are the runner-
Caring Is Creepy Ghost pressure
ANYTHING from Apologies is welcome. That is one of the most perfect records ever IMO
I LOVE these guys. welcome back!!!
Omg hearing That they working on a new album and hearing those new tracks omg
The piano on modern world is perfect.
I only discovered this band a few months ago, at a festival. Description in the festival guide sounded interesting so I went to take a look. I was VERY impressed by their performance, 110% into the song. So cool to see that again here!
I discovered them half hr ago . I are old .
Absolutely lovable, everything about this. Everything. Thanks, KEXP.
Please never stop! wolf parade forever!
Love these guys! New stuff sounds great...hecks yeah!
that outro!!!
Can't wait to see them in March
I saw these guys at Osheaga and they were awesome.
YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! Welcome back fellas come to cali
bowiesque, very artistic, emergent, nature appreciating, thank you!
loved it
woooow
they sound better than ever
hearing WF's music gives me goosebumps. love the new stuff/
Spencer absolutely destroying it as always
That guitar solo on Dinner Bells! Top 3 on my list! Proficiency makes a good artist. Passion and impact fulness makes a great artist!
Arlen has to be the most seriously aloof (yet endlessly talented) drummer ever.
Yes, Cheryl, favorite band ever. Finally got to see them at Capitol Hill Block party 7/17 :: "To us it will always be Doy Division" their name for Mr Startup.
Saw them as well at the Block Party, it was funny how many people didn't know who they were, at least around where I was standing, and they were turned up nice and loud, Dan looked like he was having a blast and Spencer even managed a few genuine smiles. The new record is great! They are playing at Showbox Market in January, tix onsale now.
this is pure beauty!
Looks like time passed for everyone except for Dante haha. Loving the new songs.
The version of Modern World on this is fucking awesome. No exaggeration best take on it I've heard them do, including studio album.
Wait, what? They've been working on something new?! I thought Dan was too busy with Operators. This is like getting a Christmas present in September.
Just noticed he says the name of the newest album Cry, Cry, Cry in the lyrics of c'est la vie way. Which stands up against their best works.
Her shirt is super cool.
If Wolf Parade and Arcade Fire went back on tour together I'd fucking lose my shit
Max Hollenbeck Wolf Parade and Arcade Fire will be playing in Austin on Sept. 27th
COME BACK TO THE TWIN CITIES MN
I second that.
Dan's comment at 20:52. gold. I don't know if many Vancouver Islanders thought of Nirvana as a local band!
Yes! I like Cheryl a lot, but pretty funny how she goes ignores the "Manifest Destiny" comment and pretty great how Dan gets in a bit of a dig at America and Americans and politely stands up for Canada! Nice! Nothing mean or nasty, but pretty great exchange and shows Dan's quick wit. I guess most live performers tend to have a quick wit with all that the encounter on stage.
Saw these guys in Carrboro NC in August 2018 and it was excellent.. I'm definitely out ot touch, but it wasn't sold out. I'd been waiting to see these guys for years and assumed everyone thought they were superb.
this Modern World performance, FUCK YES!
Automatic. Great sound
Come to Kraków! :)
Love it. Bring back Sunset Rubdown tho!
Hell yes! Moonface is good but can never compare.
The singer's the guy from Operators right?
Yes, this band (wolf parade) existed long before the operators. But yes he is.
Spencer and Mike have so many side projects.
+Wolfatadoor mike?
Mar Kes I'm an idiot. Dan*
Dan Boeckner. Just wanted to put his name down w/Spencer Krug cuz sometimes only Krug is mentioned :)
:: "This Heart's on Fire"
terminal 5 NYC awaits you
Vocal sounds like mr Bowie
Does anyone else hear strings at 24:37, might just be the sustain of the piano
What kind of guitar is that red one?
Answering my own question.... 'Lincoln Guitars' out of Austin. Expensive but beautiful, handmade guitars. Classic.
He also got another guitar from the same brand; a red guitar with a black top. I saw that one in UA-cam movies from recent concerts. I love that one more than this one. But glad to know which brand they are from.
I see he is aso playing that one in this vid
+Mar Kes love those guitars. both look amazing.
I think it's electric, but I'm no expert
Who makes Dans guitars? Goddam
does Spencer Krug seem like he doesn't want to be there????
dinner bells
Dante has to come back
The sound like the Sex Pistols at times
They did their Television homework . And every other lovable group of scamps .
9/11
First
I think a new marketing strategy would be good for your band, it really seems like you guys are burning out. I find you're not really being practical for a poor audience so to say. No networking for your fans, alot of regression in some cities. Maybe if you told your peers you could fix this for your scene.
drinking. Is that a joke?
Their comeback has been amazing and they are getting better and better. They are a highly respected band amongst critics, musicians and fans alike. The new album will be top drawer.
I love Spencer Krug part of Wolf Parade but the Boeckner part is just not for me. :(
