Absolutely our pleasure- we use the Phoenix a LOT here at the studio. We do like the Divided's, but have so many other things here we love there's not a lot of extra room for more amps at the moment - it's quite a collection of great modern brands, vintage-based replicas, and some real small-run boutique amplifiers. If you are looking to add some flavor to your recording chain or guitar arsenal, we'd absolutely love to help! Keep up the great teaching vids - nice work!

Love those Preamps they sound amazing! Just tracked through one the other day and it blew my mind! You guys need some Divided by 13 amps in there they sound amazing! And the Nash guitars are the best bang for the buck guitars anywhere! I have two and love them. Thanks for all the great vids:)

@kusgilb Thanks a lot for the very nice comment- obviously, the preamp helps a lot in us capturing all of that, but yes, we are definitely loving the sound of these rooms. We don't have any impulse files of the room, but you are not the first person to ask about it- perhaps we will do it one day! Thanks again, and if there is ever anything else that we can do to help with any of your recording needs, please don't hesitate to ask!

It certainly wouldn't be a mistake to use external pre-amps. I just downloaded and read the manual [which is unfortunately not as full of information as it should be], and it seems like you can use external pre's by turning the input gain all the way down. Worst case, you may need to get some Shure a15as "inline pads" to put between the external pre's and the input to the zoom.
On the bright side - every studio should have at least 6x a15as -- they often come in VERY handy!!!

Thanks! The last thing I need is another amp haha. Might hit you guys up for another Nash in the near future. And some recording gear of corse.

Would like to have that preamp. It'd go great with my stuff, however, I really dig that big clock-table in the background.

That's very helpful and answered my question. I may have to ask you more questions in the future :D thanks again.

You have one of the best sounding live rooms I have ever heard. Great acoustics.
    Very live 3 dimensional sound.
Do you have impulse files available that could be used in a convolution reverb ?

hey can anyone help with a question please, my interface already has mic pre's in it just not good ones, so if i buy an exernal mic pre and connect that to my interface i will effectively have two mic pre amps in line? so will one of them be bypassed? i don't understand how it works thanks.

    Dear,
I would like to know the difference in signal quality between the XLR and DB25 connector outputs.
Is the quality of the output signal the same?
Is it better to record using the XLR output signal?

@Dadebud It's actually quite a bit less than that from us! Give us a ring, or check the website for the "good guy" price from SoundPure

oh cool thanks for the reply, it's a zoom r-16 it's very cheap but is great for what it is. It doesn't have a pad on it. So if i can't pad down to line level, would it be a mistake to use exernal pre's?

I've got a DRS-2 coming from you guys. I have to say, though, the overdrive sounds in this video when you turn up the input gain aren't particularly good, imho. Don't you guys think they sound thin and buzzy, or maybe that's just typical of mic preamp distortion/OD?

@jawsrock1 You'll have to work at the studio to hang with the table... sorry...

@Michael55443 Well... they do have a very nice 1 and 2-channel variety. Most home studios may not need an 8-channel preamp, but those that do would be hard-pressed to find a more versatile, bang-for-the-buck preamp that is of truly professional, world-class studio caliber.

You didn't mention which interface you have, which isn't a struggle, but it makes it more difficult to give you a definitive answer. The great majority of the interfaces I've seen that have mic-pres generally have "line in" capability as well -- which is usually done by padding down the front end of the mic-amp to accept a line level input. If you have questions, please feel free to give us a call at 888-528-9703

@jcshirke I think what you're hearing on the video isn't something you're going to experience when the unit gets to your control room. The example on the video was pretty extreme - and frankly wouldn't have made it to video in this era of SoundPure video production - our engineering staff is much better trained these days!!
What you're hearing definitely isn't typical of mic-pre distortion... it really was an extreme [spelled: o-v-e-r-d-o-n-e] example.

Personally I dislike the tone of the mic input gainstage. It easily runs into harsh territories where it exhibits this constant cranked sound to it. At those input levels, the micpre renders too strong harmonics relative to fundaments. It will be difficult to incorporate any of these tracks in a reasonable real life mix. But when combined with a ribbon it begins to shine, apparently.
