Seems a very down to earth guy. And a real martial arts fighter, did the full contact competitions in his younger days, a real blood, sweat and tears life he led.
Many people forget, but he was professional bodybuilder (Mr. Belgium) - one of the reason of his success - he just looks 100 times better than anyone in his audition for films
Same goes for James Bond(AKA Sean Connery) He was a professional bodybuilder and won a mister universe contest in 53 before going on to play bond in doctor no in 62.
You would have to pay Segal A LOT to allow it to happen. Choreography and actually being a trained master of the arts is 2 total different things. First ever outsider to open a sanctioned dojo in Japan ain't getting dropped kicked by a body building stunt man unless he lets him.
Timecop,Bloodsport,Double Impact, Kickboxer,Death Warrant , Universal Soldier, Lionheart , Hard Target and Double Team are Van Damme's best movies of all time . My Favorite action star .
HUGE FAN!!! I had a few icons I looked up to in the 80’s Arnold, Sly, JCVD and my dad got me hooked on Clint Eastwood’s old spaghetti westerns so Clint as well!! Blood sport and Kickboxer were my favorites but I also loved Lionheart, Cyborg and Universal Soldier
Well, Enter the Dragon is the genesis of all fighting games, so the genesis of the streetfighter movie, but Bloodsport kicked ass and was a superior movie, even if all of it was based on bullshit from a charlatan like the real Frank Dux
Jean-Claude Van Damme has so much of a big HEART!!!! He really enjoys conversation with people and loves them dearly....Very honest Man!!! tells you how he really feels...💕💕🤗💕💕👍
Hes a good man. 👍 I liked the bit where he mentioned how he got to America by selling flowers then opening a gym. The people in Hong Kong are especially humble and In touch with nature, so unsurprisingly he chooses to reside there. 💙✌️
Jean Claude Van Damn - one of the big guns of the 80s and 90s. Loved the movies growing up. If I saw him in HK while I was there, I'd have bought him a beer (if he drinks them). Legend.
@deenman23 , Arnold and Van Damme were the few exceptions where my generally intolerant country of the US, did not care about accents and were impressed by said actors sheer talent and charisma. Hell! Arnold was even Governor of my home state of California and didn't do too horrible a job, aside from allowing parents to not vaccinate their children, he treated our Vets really good and did a lot to help promote and honor them. Comparing these two guys to prostitutes is an injustice. They came to the US with virtually nothing and became icons, who were adopted by the US and became as "American as apple pie". I could give a shit if they have accents, it does not diminish their achievements in film, athletics and politics.
from my understanding van damme was only into drugs for a short time, i dont think that has much to do with his aging, much more likely to be genetics....
maybe it's just his personality but the way Van Damme's mannerisms and talkative nature... it seems like he's experiencing a little more euphoria here than someone on a base level or sober. Of course, Van Damme probably just really loves the spotlight and enjoys conversation and is very hyperactive when these moments arise. So it can simply be his nature... but this is also how it is when you're high on something like coke or even alcohol.
I had an opportunity to meet him in the early '90s in LA. He was a super nice guy and not hung up on any of the Hollywood nonsense! In fact, he was such a easy-going person that at first, I wasn't even sure that it was him. It wasn't until the proper introductions were made that I knew. Anyway, I remember him being very generous and nice.
Old School Yeah, I sure did have a good experience, my friend. It's strange, I think a lot of those rumors are just that, rumors. Now, the man probably has a temper, but what normal person doesn't get angry or annoyed on occasion. The man might have got angry in front of some people on set, and it went from a normal annoyance, to the guy is a jerk all the time.

His monologue in JCVD was really next level and it moved me a lot. My respect for this guy has skyrocketted since.
@@Riley_1955 even arnold Schwarzenegger was a professional bodybuilder

JCVD seems like such a genuine and grounded person I'd definitely love to meet him. What a class act; Cheers!
I would pay to see Van Damme drop kick Steven Seagal
Me too any day!!
hahaha i'll chip in!
You would have to pay Segal A LOT to allow it to happen. Choreography and actually being a trained master of the arts is 2 total different things. First ever outsider to open a sanctioned dojo in Japan ain't getting dropped kicked by a body building stunt man unless he lets him.
Right in the liver.
@@vinzbronko Seagal is a chump. Van damme would destroy that turkey.
Timecop,Bloodsport,Double Impact, Kickboxer,Death Warrant , Universal Soldier, Lionheart , Hard Target and Double Team are Van Damme's best movies of all time . My Favorite action star .
This great man is wonderful so humble and I love his daughter
A true legend!!!
30 years later his accent hasnt got any better. and neither has my spelling
Grammar
Tremendous interviewer and interviewee.
Enjoyable watch!
He’s quite a character and an open guy.
Jcvd is a humble and a great man, stay strong.
Bloodsport is the true "Street Fighter" movie for me.
You're not wrong there
Well, Enter the Dragon is the genesis of all fighting games, so the genesis of the streetfighter movie, but Bloodsport kicked ass and was a superior movie, even if all of it was based on bullshit from a charlatan like the real Frank Dux
Great guy wish I got to meet him he made mistakes like we all do so keep moving forward and I'll always watch his movies
Im a big fan of Cyborg. It should be way more popular
THat movie is epic
Okay I can agree with that.
The music and the settings are what made Cyborg for me.
Cyborg is great
I tried watching Cyborg.
Jean Claude Van Johnson is an absolute masterpiece. Please make another season!!
Yes!
I loved him in the expendibles 2. My favorite is lionheart, and hard target
I got those in a movie collection of jcvd. The others were sudden death and my favorite: The quest. The Street fighter movie I really wanted. LOL
Hell yeah
Lionheart! Thanks I forgot about that!
Besides bloodsport and kickboxer, i was a big fan of death warrant and cyborg!
*One of the most inspiring action stars!!!* Mortality is truly unbiased.
DOULBE IMPACT .....DOUBLE THE VAN-DAMME.....FEEL THE IMPACT
Double Van-Damage!
Chad and Alex!
haha. hell yes!
Fuck yea
My childhood hero...... can't forget bloodsport, cyborg, double impact & kickboxer.
Great guy. Kickboxer and Bloodsport are my faves. JCVD rules.
Wrong Bet 👍
"J.C.V.D" & "Universal Soldier" - still superb quality movies!
Universal Soldier still holds up.
@Methods Look for something..... something hard 🤦♂️🤣👍 quality
I probably butchered that, i apologise.
My childhood hero! Thanks for posting he seems very humble now, hope he has defeated his demons
Are we getting a second season of Jean Claude Van Johnson? I fucking loved that show.
Amazon cancelled it mate. Fucking assholes. Netflix should pick it up. They should make a Van Damme and Chuck Norris comedy/action detective series.
This guy told off the Rothschild's he's the best.
What's this story?
I seen that! JCVD is awesome
So, Cheesy, do you have any info then? Where can I look?
He told off the Rothschild's what?

Anyone remember "Cyborg" ? 🤖
It was a good movie but very low budget
action is gd, but story line seems weak
I like the death. I like the misery. I like this wooooorld!!!
Actually my second favourite of his ... behind Bloodsport of course. I thought Fender was BADASS :-). Shout out to Lionheart as well :-D
I got dvd Awesome movie
Double Team with Dennis Rodman was a bad-ass of a movie also.
Knock Off with Rob Schneider!!
I love JCVD. God bless him and his family.
Jean-Claude Van Damme has so much of a big HEART!!!! He really enjoys conversation with people and loves them dearly....Very honest Man!!! tells you how he really feels...💕💕🤗💕💕👍
This guy is an amazing interviewer, get him on the roundtable!!!
i saw Bloodsport more than 70 times, for real. respect to JCVD
And i saw 20
He sounds 20 times more humble than Segal. Real class act even talking about the ruut
My biggest jcvd guilty pleasure is double impact. Ill still watch that if its on.
Hes a good man. 👍
I liked the bit where he mentioned how he got to America by selling flowers then opening a gym. The people in Hong Kong are especially humble and In touch with nature, so unsurprisingly he chooses to reside there. 💙✌️
most people in hong kong are racist pieces of shiiit in touch with their racism
Jean Claude Van Damn - one of the big guns of the 80s and 90s. Loved the movies growing up. If I saw him in HK while I was there, I'd have bought him a beer (if he drinks them). Legend.
@@Josep_Hernandez_Lujan Perhaps a coke then.
I'd like to see a fight between JCVD & RVD (Rob Van Damme).
Van Damme seems like he's a pretty humble, sweet guy.
Jeffrey P Yh its a shame he aged so horriby because of drugs he would look much younger if he hadnt used stuff like that
@deenman23 , Arnold and Van Damme were the few exceptions where my generally intolerant country of the US, did not care about accents and were impressed by said actors sheer talent and charisma.
Jeffrey P I’ve heard that about him in the past
from my understanding van damme was only into drugs for a short time, i dont think that has much to do with his aging, much more likely to be genetics....
maybe it's just his personality but the way Van Damme's mannerisms and talkative nature... it seems like he's experiencing a little more euphoria here than someone on a base level or sober. Of course, Van Damme probably just really loves the spotlight and enjoys conversation and is very hyperactive when these moments arise. So it can simply be his nature... but this is also how it is when you're high on something like coke or even alcohol.
Bloodsport was my 5hit
I hate seeing my favorite actors get old.
Bloodsport is a really good movie.
Very good. But bricks don't hit back.
Hey just look at Jack lalane..he was a beast till 95yrs of age..thats how i would like my actors n many people to feel
Then don't look😕😕
We all ,will get older ,that's a fact, its part of life, you shouldn't hate it
I had an opportunity to meet him in the early '90s in LA. He was a super nice guy and not hung up on any of the Hollywood nonsense! In fact, he was such a easy-going person that at first, I wasn't even sure that it was him. It wasn't until the proper introductions were made that I knew. Anyway, I remember him being very generous and nice.
I'm glad you had a good experience, so many people said he was an ass
Old School Yeah, I sure did have a good experience, my friend. It's strange, I think a lot of those rumors are just that, rumors. Now, the man probably has a temper, but what normal person doesn't get angry or annoyed on occasion. The man might have got angry in front of some people on set, and it went from a normal annoyance, to the guy is a jerk all the time.
@@RumbleFish69One dude was talking about him hitting on his wife like he wasn't even there, but again, different people have different interactions
I enjoy most of his movies all the same, especially Bloodsport, The Quest, and Timecop
@@SantaPorter420 Well, the rumor is that the man was kind of a lady-hound. Still, I will concede that if he actually did that, it'd be pretty messed up. I am sure that JCVD might have his own, different version, if he even recalls that event at all. But you're right, people will have different interactions for sure.
@@RumbleFish69 again, different people, different interactions, personally I enjoy his older movies, even as bad as street fighter was
Glad when you met him he was good people
I still say BloodSport was his best movie and the soundtrack kicks ass
Universal soldier bruh😎
You Are NO SHODOSHIE
JCVD is an inspiration for anyone entering a foreign country ,, regarles their goals ...🙏🏻🙏🏻
Cyborg was awesome, it was like mad max mix with martial arts. My top picks cyborg, kick boxer 1, universal soldier, double impact which had steamy scenes lol 😂. And my favorite blood sport.
Cyborg is more, a little Mad Max, some Terminator and Martial arts, cool movie....sequel was sh**t but still
my faves Bloodsport, Universal Soldier, Death Warrant, Cyborg & Timecop
@bee boo but does Lionheart have an amazing synth rock score?? no so it can't be better than Bloodsport....
does Stan Bush do a song on the OST? NO then it can't be better lolz
I demand my action movies have a music video in the middle of em somewhere....or a montage, Bloodsport did both LMFAO!! 11/10
Cyborg is probably my favorite out of movies also!
Exact comparison for Cyborg and Mad Max
Yea great movie, much better than mad max. It really deserves more popularity & respect.
The Quest ,was an awesome movie R.I.P 90s
STR8 UP THE REAL STREET FIGHTER STYLE MOVIE...
AND CYBORG WAS THE SHIT TOO
Finally...I had a similar comment...finally someone else acknowledges this martial arts masterpiece!
Great interview!! Bloodsport and Kickboxer, two of the best Martial Arts movies ever. Great music, action and dialogue.
You don't kick Chuck Norris in the liver. His liver hits your foot.
Fuck chuck
He didn't kick Chuck. He kicked Chuck's other training partner.
true, but unlike bruce lee chuck can vouch if its true or not.
@@alexscott730 Yes, but it was Chuck's liver that caused it.
Al Imspartacus2 Not talking about lee
And how would anyone know if lee “ couldn’t be touched”. His death raises his fame to a God’s level in the martial arts which is silly .
19+ wins to 1 losses as a professional kickboxer. And there is Steven Seagal saying he can beat JCVD's ass lol
JCVD would rape Steven seagal
@deadboy600 Chuck zito is the real deal. JCVD would beat Chuck zito only in the movies lol
