Ah yes, truly a maverick of our time. An extremely online political pundit who recently had a very public and humiliating divorce from his open marriage. Who recently also had very humiliating sex tapes and nudes released that likely would never have existed if not for his extremely degenerate lifestyle. Who is so great at establishing dialogue by openly stating that he will laugh and mock his political opponents should they be murdered by political terrorists.
Without him, truly the party is lost.

The main problem is that the world has changed; we are post-truth. The dems are, generally speaking, far more connected to reality than republicans, and lying is a very effective strategy; otherwise nobody would use it.
The only way to win is to control the media environment to some extent. Unfortunately, media is totally in the hands of republicans, and I don’t see that changing any time soon.
The dems can have the best messaging in the world, but if it never gets in front of the public due to an antagonistic media environment, it’s worthless.

6:30 It feels so close, but I think it's missing the mark.
To answer the question I would say that you can acknowledge that the Biden administration has done good things, however you and the media gaslit the people with the whole vibecession argument. You can acknowledge the good, but you did so by directly arguing that the people who were saying the economy was doing poorly just didn't understand. That was true, but only because people judge the economy differently. They meant that they are worse off in the economy and that is how most people interpret the status of the economy. You didn't need to fight against that to give Biden credit and I don't understand why it was such a common narrative.
He does pretty good addressing this. I actually thought this was one of the best parts of Harris's campaign. However he misses the mark again by pointing to specific pandemic era policies expiring. If you look overall at wages vs inflation people are still on average worse off than before the pandemic. The tax credit was good and certainly helped offset that, but arguing for a tax credit as a solution to people's economic problems is not really an answer. I would go on, but acknowledging the problem is one step and providing solutions is the next.
The last thing is that the Democrats need to focus on the middle class. They have spent far too much of the past decade focusing on the poor and disenfranchised. When they look to make changes it isn't ever actually the rich that pay for it in Democratic bills, it is usually the middle class that ends up paying.

God, the amount this guy just operates in the progressive sloganeering 'corporate media' 'ultrawealthy' 'rigged economy' and etc is v annoying. As someone who lived in WI for part of this cycle, the incessant texts, multiple door knocks and pamphlets each day, and annoying moveon style messaging was NOT a plus and was def inefficient. Ive liked all the other candidates interviewed thus far a lot more. The successes in Wisconsin(and by success I mean just clawing back to almost even in a state that generally should be favorable for democrats already) I think are far more influenced by Republicans clearly going too far in an easy to understand/visible way than this guy's strategies.

Absolutely. In one video Destiny mentioned how often he manages to convince people that he's not one of those crazies... but then struggles to convince the interlocutor to join forces with the broader group that contains the crazies. The solution is obvious (though not easy): make the broader group only contain the sort of people who are not the crazies.

We see this from both sides. Host places soap box, uncontested drivel pours out with narry a term or notion challenged, everybody who watched walks away as if no video had been watched at all.
Edit: I watched Destiny steadily for quite a while. Now that he's on his Operative Arc, I just can't watch. He's so much smarter than this.
Challenging people you agree with, especially in this setting, is exactly how you elevate the message and expand the listenership.

One way to do this is having a comedian run for office. A Jon Stewart character that leans into engage the public through the other side’s lies and contradictions.

@babyamyxo-o6c By online left I simply mean left-of-center/liberal/progressive political commentators/pundits. An example of a purity test is the Gaza litmus test… commentators (e.g. Hasan Piker among multitudes) who will rebuke any Democratic candidate or left leaning commentator who is not categorically against Israel, and who treats such candidates or commentators as greater enemies to the cause than a right wing opponent.

Other than fear mongering about racism, sexism, transphobia, and inequality etc.... there seems to be no other substance to the left.

As a Democrat/ Progressive, honest question… I’d ask you the same thing. Most of us could care less about Trump, we acknowledge he’s purely transactional and found the party that indulges him precisely because they have no true “values”. You’re experts at taking about “values” but even Trump understands those are negotiable with your party. We only hate what he’s done to this country and your party. “Don’t like or fear Trump” … What’s to like? Honest question.

    • @vp2008

Same question to you, other than fear mongering about Mexicans taking your jobs, trans people in sports, woke mind virus and DEI, the Republicans have nothing else other than cutting social spending that helps Americans and giving tax cuts to the rich.
I’m not even American but I’ve been watching US politics for decades and it’s insane how much the Republican Party has changed in the past 10 years. Like, at least republicans like mitt Romney or john McCain were decent men even though I might disagree with some of their policies. Now the party is just full of conspiracy theorists and grifters.
